What Cozy Did You Just Finish Reading??? (Archive)
Stephanie wrote: "I just finished
Hexes and Hemlines - my cozy group read the first in the series back in January and many of us continued to books two and three..."I am reading this one now and i love it. Really started getting good havent been able to put it down much.
it's okay but not that interested in the series.. easy to figure who did it and I don't care much about the characters.
Just finished
. It started out really good, but then I got to know the main character better and realized she was going to be one of those TSTL annoying types. If she's that bad in the next book, I'll have to give up this series.

Kathy, I just finished The Walled Flower by Lorraine Bartlett as well. I did read the first one. Enjoyed both, obviously!
Finished reading
Naughty in Nice, the latest Royal Spyness by Rhys Bowen. Very good mystery. This one involves Georgie's mother and friends of her father so you learn more about her family. Twists and turns keep it fresh and interesting.
Just finished the Tenth Saint by D.J. Nico. It was unexpectedly different from what I thought it was but I enjoyed it very much
I finally finished with
which I really enjoyed alot of witchiness in this one. I also finished
again really enjoyed it.
Just finished reading 'The Affair of the Thirty-nine Cufflinks' by James Anderson. Lovely cozy read along the lines of Agatha Christie: the family gathers at massive old house for reading of the will, and then...suddenly a dead body!
Very enjoyable.
Very enjoyable.
Just finished
and I was pretty disappointed in it. The story jumped around too much and Hamish (actually most of the characters) were too cranky.
Finished the "Ghost Dusters" series by Wendy Roberts this afternoon. I liked this trio of books and wish that there were more, especially the way the third one ended.
I just finished re-reading
. This is one of my favourite series and I always enjoy a re-visit. :) It was also part of my Spring challenge. :)
But I Wouldn't Want To Die There by Nancy Pickard - I read this for the March challenge - oldest cozy in your TBR. This mystery, published in '93, has the main character traveling to NYC for an interim job. It's eerie in an unexpected way - the twin towers are pictured in the skyline on the cover and there are a couple of references to the World Trade Center as Jenny arrives and orients herself to NYC.It's a great mystery with plenty of possible motives and murderers. Pickard does an excellent job portraying the city and the character's 'fish out of water' experiences.
I finished The Sunday Philosophy Club which had a number of the same references as another of his books 44 Scotland Street. This bothered me at first but then I got used to it, LOL.
Melodie wrote: "Finished
. Gave it 3 stars. Not a bad story and a couple of recipes I think I'll try."I just finished this one last night. I agree it wasn't a bad story but not as good as some of her other books. Maybe I was just expecting too much as I was really looking forward to it to see where the characters were headed next.
Just put down
. Just so-so. I'd hoped for more in this book but the characters are still a bit too two dimensional. I liked the ending though.

These books are NOWHERE near what they once were. The "triangle" has worn more than thin and she really needs to wrap that part of it up, or quit writing the books.
I finished Double-Booked for Death i really enjoyed this one too. I have been reading alot of new series starts lately.
Just finished As the Pig Turns by M.C. Beaton--it was okay, there's something about Agatha that is very familiar and real.
Kari wrote: "I Just finished Trouble in Spades
It was OK. I kept hoping the characters would figure out the mystery as quickly as I did."Kari, Ive been reading this series also. I dont have all of the books yet, but I like this authors books.
Have you read her new witch series? written under the name of Heather Blake?
Melodie wrote: "Finished
. Love Jenn McKinlay's writing style!"I agree whole-heartedly. I recently finished this one myself and thought it was terrific. Jenn McKinlay never disappoints me!
Finished both Frozen Assets and The Taste of Copper in the last few days.Love the main character and had hoped that the second in the series would smooth out some of the issues I had with the writing and plotting. Unfortunately, they were even worse. Will probably try the third when it comes out, but the main character was the only thing that got me through the second book.
I hate it when that happens!
I just finished Getting Old Can Kill You which features seniors who investigate murders. This one had a neat twist to the whole murder. Also finished MURDER IN THE HOUSE BY Veronica Heley. I just discovered this series and enjoyed it.
Kari wrote: "Melissa wrote: "Kari wrote: "I Just finished Trouble in Spades

The Winter Garden Mystery
-- the second in this series. Took me a bit to get absorbed in it but it paid off in the end. The first one was the same way for me.
Just finished A Red Herring Without Mustard
and just love this series! I am also almost done with A Charmed Death
, which is good, but I am a little anxious to be done with it for some reason. I think because I keep thinking about the classics I want to read when I get done with the current pile. I wish I could be more present in what I am reading instead of constantly thinking about the next book. Oh well!
I just finished
. Another really stupid title (imo) but not a bad start to a new series. I see potential for improvement in the next book.
Jennifer E. wrote: "I just finished

Hunh - I did NOT make that connection. And - I didn't recognise her writing in this book at all. That's not to say it's a bad read - but it's definitely in third place in the competition with her other two series.
Read
A Spoonful of Poison, an Agatha Raisin mystery by M.C. Beaton. Very good. Several threads in this one and more than one wrong-doer.
Finally finished Twin Killing by Marshall Cook. Not the best installment of this series. The plot tended to drag, and it seemed to take forever to get to the real mystery. Here's hoping the last book in the series, Obsession, is better!
I read Jenn McKinlay's Due or Die, and loved it. A fantastic sequel to the first book in the Library Lover's Mystery series!
