Heidi | 2446 comments Suzanne - I know how you feel! I have added over 80 new books to read since I started reading these threads. I am trying to practice self control now and not add anymore. So far, I have been pretty weak.

Is it any good? I have recently got a hold of this book and would love your feedback on it. Thanks!

Trine (trinespageongoodreads) | 200 comments Just finished reading Death Loves a Messy Desk . Great series with interesting organizing tips at the start of each chapter.

Aw, thanks for visiting! Like Heather said, it means "One word". I thought it was fitting for a book blog!

Anyways, I need to go to the library and get the next book in the Tea Shop Mysteries series! I love them.

I'm not sure why I didn't like the Teashop mysteries Trine. I like tea, but I felt like I was getting a history lesson (on the setting) when I read them. I think I quit after 2 or 3 of them. I quit the Cleo Coyle Coffeehouse series too. Hmmm..do I sense a pattern? ;)

I quite the Coffeehouse mysteries after one or 2 also. I'm not a coffee drinker and all the coffee talk was boring to me.

I know what you mean about the history lesson, Susie, but the historical information is just one of the things I like about this series - that and reading about tea, of course. :-)

alicia grant (shesha556) I finished Doom with a View (Psychic Eye Mystery, #7) by Victoria Laurie and really enjoyed this one. I like the fact she is moving to Texas and all her friends will be there too.

I read The Christmas Cookie Killer (A Fresh-Baked Mystery, #3) by Livia J. Washburn from this series in 2008 and really didn't like it. It was TOO cozy.

message 362: by Kelley (new)

Kelley (booknerd69) I just finished Plaster and Poison by Jennie Bentley and it was great! I love this series so much. I pretty much knew who did it, but it didn't detract from the story, the characters or the anticipation of what would come next. And while, Red Delicious Death overdid it on the description of apple harvesting, the decorating part of this book was secondary to the actual story. It was very even handed and I was glad to see the author continue to have the actual story and characters be the main part of the book and not a lesson of some sort. I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes good character development and a solid mystery!

message 363: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 2446 comments Just finished Thyme of Death (China Bayles Mysteries, #1) by Susan Wittig Albert . I liked it. It was different than the normal "funny" mysteries I gravitate to, but still really good.

Glad you liked it! As I mentione before, this is the only one in the series I've never read. CHILE DEATH was the first I read. Then I went back from there and read all but the first one, and have read all of them since.

message 365: by Susan (new)

Susan (sumagoo) | 131 comments I just finished Earthquake Games by Bonnie Ranthum. It is not really a cozy but I did enjoy it. It is a book about the area I live in so it was really good. Very true to my area.

message 366: by alicia (new)

alicia grant (shesha556) I finished Leftover Dead by Jimmie Ruth Evans and did enjoy just like the rest of the series. I will say I also liked it because one of her dd's was not really in it and she so annoys me.

That's the part I hated about it! I started reading the series because it was Michigan based and in a city not far from my own. Then Michigan gets hit really hard by the bad economy and Abby ups and moves to Texas ALONG WITH EVERYONE SHE KNOWS. Not only does this show people bailing on Michigan instead of sticking it out but how many people do you know who are forced to move due the economy get to take everyone they care about with them?

Suzanne | 188 comments I finished The Silver Needle Murder (A Tea Shop Mystery, #9) by Laura Childs over the weekend. I enjoyed it, althogh not as much as some of the others in this series. I started wondering why Drayton, nor Haley ever seem to have a love interest.

I think Drayton is a closet queen....which explains why he is the way he is! He & Haley both deserve some companionship!

*chuckle* I'm not sure if Drayton is a closet queen or just an old fashioned souther gentleman but I would be interested to see love interests for Drayton and Haley.

Shannon (dolphinlover) | 290 comments I have just finished Rotten To The Core by Sheila Connolly. I did enjoy it but not nearly as much as the first book. It started off pretty strong and then kind of lost it's spark in the middle. The reason for the murder kind of made me mad. It was a bit silly to me why the victim was murdered. I will read the next installment but if it is not better than this one was I will stop before I get too involved in this series. Overall a good read and worth reading though.

Shannon, if you weren't crazy about the 2nd one, then be prepared to be disappointed in the 3rd. That series has really gone downhill after the 1st one. I read the 3rd one, but I won't be reading anymore in the series.

Oh no! Really? Wow I hate when that happens-a series starts out promising and then just crashes. Well I guess we can be thankful it did not start like 10 books into the series or something lol. I will probably still try the 3rd but if it sucks then I will have to quit while I am ahead. Thanks for the heads up Kelley.

That's what is so frustrating about this series! The first one was so good and then it went downhill rapidly. Sigh...oh well, there are some really good books out there, so stick with those Heidi! :)

Agree with Kelley. RED DELICIOUS DEATH was mostly a waste of time. I've decided I just don't like this series. And thanks for the get well wishes. This cold just seems to want to hang on and I hadn't had one all winter!

I still enjoyed the 3rd one but not as much as the 1st and 2nd. I liked the addition of a "local foods restaurant" and the info that brought into the book but was a bit sad at who the murderer turned out to be.
