Just finished
Duplicate Death a classic mystery by Georgette Heyer. It was delightful. Some of her descriptions are LOL funny and the mystery is more complex than it seems.
the second in a series by Cathy Wiley. A little disappointing-I loved the first in the series,
but certainly good enough that I'll read the next one (when it comes out).
I finished
last night. This series started off frustrating, but the premise had me sticking with it - and luckily, the books just get better and better. This was a great read.
...and blazed through
this afternoon. Not sure why I like this series enough to keep reading it, but I do! :P
I read
on Saturday and
on Sunday. it was a quick read, even seemed a little short, but I was caught up enough by them to wan to continue reading.

I read this series quite some time ago, but thought it was pretty good!
I just finished Ten Big Ones by Janet Evanovich (it was okay!) and Death in the Clouds by Agatha Christie (this one was really good).
I just finished The Weed that Strings the Hangman's Bag. It is one in a series of Flavia de Luce Series by Alan Bradley. I liked two of his three books so far.
I finished
...I really liked this 2nd book in the Coffeehouse mystery series. Definitely planning to read the 3rd book soon

Definitely planning to read the 3rd book soon"I started this series this year and read the whole set except for the last one, which I just got. Addictive. You might also like A Veiled Deception -- Annette blair's series-- I read the first one of those this year too and loved it.

This is one of my all-time favorite series, in fact it was the series that got me hooked on the whole cozy mystery genre.
I read
yesterday, and I am just not sure about it. I will defintely try to read another before i pass judgement, but I didn't like the flighty, goofball way the lead was protrayed in the first few chapters mostly, but even throughout the book.

I admit some of it was funny, but most women in cozy mysteries are independent and confident, and i found the way Jenny was portraied as bumbling and oblivious to life a little off putting. That was one reason i said i would have to read another before I pass judgement, it just may be the "getting to know" you phase of meeting a new character and it may be better in the next book.
I never judge a series by one book alone.

Michelle - I'm in complete agreement with you. Except I liked this series. :) But I do remember that the first book left me unsure, so you might find the second (or third) is more enjoyable.
I flew through
yesterday. A great collection of stories, I thought. Only one or two left me thinking "meh". I'll be reading a lot of the stories again and again.
Dru wrote: "I finished Behind the Seams by Betty Hechtman and it was an okay/good read."Yeah, Dru. I wasn't so sure about that. Didn't like how things were going with the significant other and Adele became more and more grating.
But I did finish reading some GREAT ones! Including
(love the Deborah Knott series),
- I much prefer this series to the dead end jobs one. Also finished
. I've enjoyed all Mary Stanton's (Claudia Bishop's) series, Beaufort anhd Company, Inn at Hemlock Falls, and the vet series too.
Just read that Claudia Bishop has a new Hemlock Falls coming out in April - Dread on Arrival. Was thrilled to hear this as I thought she'd ended the series with the last one.
Just finished The Amazing Mrs. Pollifax. Very engaging and fast paced. I'm thoroughly enjoying this series!
Just finished
and enjoyed it. I was surprised by some of the steamy scenes, but not offended. The humor in the book is great! Violet is one of those characters you can't help but root for from page 1 to the end. Well crafted story. Good series.
Linda wrote: "This evening I finished
, and found it positively charming. I love this series!"I read that recently too and really liked it. Great series.

Red Velvet Revenge!
Just finished
. I wanted something with a Christmas theme. Liked the setting. Even though it's the third book in the series, I didn't feel lost. Not great, but an enjoyable read.
I just finished reading Miss Julia Rocks The Cradle by Ann B. Ross and I loved it. Just started The Body In The Bonfire by Katherine Hall Page and I started Bones Of A Feather by Carolyn Haine.
Kicking off my Christmas reads, I just finished Frank, Incense, and Muriel. Aside from some truly shocking editing, possibly the worst I've ever seen, I really enjoyed the story - it was great fun and a quick read!
I just finished
. I liked it, but expect that I will like the second book in the series better, since the backgrounds of the major characters have been laid, and they won't have to be reintroduced.
Just finished
. Despite a few awkward stylistic moments, it was great fun. I will probably read more in this series. I like the "hero": a 60 year old man living with his parents. Very charming and amusing.
I finished Needled to Death, and thought it was good. Now, on to something to wake up the brain cells. lol
Last night I finished
and it was wonderful! I love this cozy series; it simply keeps getting better with every installment.
Just finished Death of a Village . This is another fun crazy Agatha Raisin story meant to be light and very fun
I've just finished A Peach of a Murder
(it had been in my TBR for a long and it was useful for November challenge), and it has been a good read. I think I'll continue with the series.

Robin wrote: "Never read any Agatha Raisin stories. Are they good?"I tried the first one and ended up skimming it. I just found it unreadable, with characters that were more stereotypes than people. But I know some people really like them, so you should probably try for yourself :)

I'm one of those who love Agatha Raisin. I think it depends somewhat on whether or not a person enjoys Agatha's very sandpapery personality. For me, she represents my very worst self flaunted indulgently.
Death of a Village is a Hamish MacBeth mystery. MC Beaton's other series is Agatha Raisin. She was a featured author this summer so you will find a list of her books and comments under that thread. If you're tired of saccharine doormat protagonists, Agatha is the character for you. She says things you might want to and gets into hilarious situations. Agatha is a mix of brash behavior and assertiveness with insecurities about aging and romance. Her fixation with her neighbor is over the top and sometimes annoys me. He's so not worth the effort.
She is/was a brilliant advertising executive with lousy interpersonal skills. I'm a fan. Read at least a couple of her mysteries before you make up your mind.
I love M.C. Beaton's Novels...they are really good especially the Agatha Raisin Series. I would love to have them all in my own Library.
Finished
and really loved it! It was fun to find I had been mentioned (not by name but I knew it was me). I love the Elizabeth Goodweather books. To me, they are like full course meals while a lot of the cozies I read are "snacks" or "dessert." Highly recommend this series!

Yeah, we could do better with a lot less cousin. She is beyond annoying!
