That was kinda what I thought, too. I really like this series, but this one wasn't as good as the others!

Georgette Heyer writes a wonderful mystery. I read Behold, Here's Poison not too long ago and really liked it.
Finished The Chick and the Dead by Casey Daniels -- am really liking this series. Must find the next couple of books so I can catch up!

Hmmm.. adding, Behold, Here's Poison to my ever growing To Read list...

4 new series that I've read lately are Ella Barrick's Ballroom series, Kylie Logan's Button Shop series, Jacklyn Brady's Piece of Cake series and Melissa Bourbon's Magical Dressmaking series. All were first rate!

Nice to know it wasn't just me Melodie!

Lori, I just finished

You're cranking right along with the Benni books!! DOVE IN THE WINDOW is one of my favorites in the series.

Caren, I agree...I think it was my least favorite...so far ;) I'm getting ready to read The Chocolate Pirate Plot. Hope it's better, or I may give up on this series.

Two books I couldn't finish -

Caren: Earlene Fowler was our featured author for last month. Skim down the homepage of our group for the "featured authors" section for a complete listing of her books, and to read what others think of them. I really liked the first book in the Bennie Harper series, Fool's Puzzle, and recently picked up book two, but haven't got round to reading it yet.
This month's featured author, Leann Sweeney, also has a series with a quilter in them (The Cats in Trouble series).

The Benni Harper books, along with Susan Wittig Albert's China Bayles books, are my very favorite cozies! Hope you'll decide to give them a shot!

Two books I couldn't finish -

Have all 3 of these, Caroline, and am currently reading LIVER LET DIE. So far I like it. I'm thinking I'm going to be hugely disappointed with SHOE DONE IT. I don't like Annette Blair's series because of all the "fashion" stuff and I think this one will be much worse along that line. Looking forward to the Gayle Trent book!

Great that is perfect timing too!

Melodie - I think I enjoyed Dove in the Window about the best so far too. I've been lucky enough that the series has been trickling in via BookMooch. And I'm really enjoying reading them in order (I know, life's short, but I'm loving the character development. :-) ) The next, Mariners Compass is on it's way, but it might take awhile. It's going to drive me bonkers waiting for it! lol

Two books I couldn't finish -

I read Shoe Done It and while I don't mind a bit of fashion speak (I love the Annette Blair series, for example) I found the constant discussion about putting outfits together off-putting, like the author was trying to sell me. It also makes the main character feel shallow. I'm not against reading the next one to see if perhaps the rhetoric dies down and it becomes more balanced, but I'm not going to rush out to buy it.

I love Mariner's Compass, too, Melodie!

I really enjoyed the whole series, I would like to see some more come out. It gets better. Keep reading!

This is an amazing series, good characters and of course the crafting tidbits. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have. You might also want to check out the authors web page.

Hmm... not at all sure who you're talking about, but I remember people saying Lois Greiman's books reminded them of Evanovich's for humour. I know there are others, but she's the only one that pops into mind at the moment.

Kathleen Bacus?? She was our featured author awhile back.

Oh, I love the Phryne Fisher mysteries. Cleo Coyle is another goody. So many suggestions that I'm adding to my list.

Finished up I is for Innocent

Thanks, Jennifer. I've heard of this one, but it's not who I was thinking of. A few people commented that the one I had in mind got better with each book.

I'm one of an apparent minority that doesn't like this series at all!

I'..."
I'm with you Melodie. I got really tired of everything about it and couldn't finish it :(
