Mike Farris (mikefarris) I haven't read a mystery in a little while. I just finished the book Mockingjay but I started reading A Study in Scarlet, the first Sherlock Holmes novel. I want to read all 4.

Robin (goodreadscomtriviagoddessl) | 630 comments I just finished The Woman in White, it is a Victorian Mystery by Wilkie Collins. I still prefer Moonstone, his other book.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) I finished Naughty in Nice (Her Royal Spyness Mysteries, #5) by Rhys Bowen and loved it! It might be my favourite so far in the series.

message 3254: by Leslie (new)

Leslie I finally finished Beaglemania (Pet Rescue Mystery, #1) by Linda O. Johnston today. It's taken me forever to read as I just can't stand to start a book and not eventually finish. I had already decided no more of the Kendra series because I do not like Kendra...well I didn't like Lauren any better and won't be reading any more by this author.

I just finished this and really enjoyed it. Was in the ER with my husband this morning and it made the time go fast.

Dianne | 218 comments I finished The Circular Staircase If you like classic Mysteries this one is great. I found the movie The Bat with Vincent Price and Agnus Moorehead on Hulu for free it is loosly based on the book. As always the book is better.

Elaine, I hope your husband is ok. That's a unique review and one that makes me want to pull this book out of the TBR stack.

Definiely not a 5 star read but I liked it enough to give it 4* and would read any sequel to it.

Jessica Beck is one of the many pseudonyms for Tim Myers. (He's also Chris Cavender, Tim Myers, Melissa Glazer, and several others I can't remember off the top of my head). : )

I also did not know that Tim was Jessica. I have looked all over and have not seen that. But then for Jessica nothing says very much about her. Ad Tim does no mention that on his web page, just he writes under different names.

message 3264: by Toni (new)

Toni | 32 comments I just finished reading Sprinkle with Murder (A Cupcake Bakery Mystery, #1) by Jenn McKinlay . I liked it but thought it would be better. I also finished Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder (Hannah Swensen, #1) by Joanne Fluke just the other day and I really enjoyed it. I have a bunch in that series all lined up. In fact I just started reading cozy mysteries and I am HOOKED! I hit the used bookstore and bought a ton of cozy mysteries to read!

Nell- Thank you He had kidney stones, which are bad enough but three weeks ago he had to have a hernia repair done. He does seem to finally be on the mend, I hope :) I think you'll enjoy the book. A couple of times it made me think of Paula Deen. I did figure it out but the characters kept me reading;

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Just finished Ghost in the Polka Dot Bikini (A Ghost of Granny Apples Mystery #2) by Sue Ann Jaffarian . Another great read in this series, I think. It was a fast read and an interesting plot. I hope there'll be more to look forward to.

i have to say that i hate when authors write different series and use different names. it is very confusing to me. why don't they stick to the same name? how would you know unless someone tells you, especially if you happen to love their series with the only name that you already know.

message 3275: by [deleted user] (new)

i finished On What Grounds by Cleo Coyle. I recently purchased all her books

Some of the authors that I read and follow have said that some of the time it is the publisher that requests a different author namne for a series, especially if it is a bit different style of writing even if in the same genre. And then other authors do it themselves.

message 3278: by [deleted user] (new)

but don't you find it confusing?

Nancy Bradford (nlb1050) | 77 comments Peg wrote: "but don't you find it confusing?"

Yes, mainly if they use more than 2 names. But now with so many having web sties and Facebook pages it is easier to find who is who.

This second Mattie Winston book is a great read. If you have not read and love Cozies you need to add this to you TBR list.

While it appears to be a Halloween book I don't feel that is the case as Halloween is only in the beginning.

Oh yeah, he's also Casey Mayes. : ) Tim has a bunch of series and the publishers (for some reason) keep changing his name).

I just finished Flash and Bones (Temperance Brennan, #14) by Kathy Reichs and (although it's not a cozy), I really enjoyed it! This one mixes in NASCAR, which I love. (Sorry the Lavene's NASCAR series ended!)

I also tried to read a Rizzoli and Isles book by Tess Gerritsen but it was too intense so I couldn't finish it (a serial killer who had it in for Rizzoli).

I've read all those books and really enjoyed them. Speaking of pseudonyms, Kylie Logan is also Casey Daniels of the Pepper Martin series and Amanda Lee is also Gayle Trent of the cake making series. Of course, Lorraine Bartlett is also Lorna Barrett. LOL

Peg - At the top of the page on the right is a box for search discussion posts. I use that to find what others in this group have said about authors that are new to me. I have the Jennifer McKinley series in my TBR because so many readers here loved it.

I've read A Crafty Killing (Victoria Square Mystery, #1) by Lorraine Bartlett and loved it.

Also read and loved the first two in the Cupcake series
Sprinkle with Murder (A Cupcake Bakery Mystery, #1) by Jenn McKinlay and Buttercream Bump Off (Cupcake Bakery Mystery, #2) by Jenn McKinlay .

Read the first in the Library Lover's series and enjoyed it, but not as much as her Cupcake books. Books Can Be Deceiving (Library Lover's Mystery, #1) by Jenn McKinlay

I have the first Amanda Lee in my TBR list, but haven't gotten to it yet.

I gave this 5 stars a month ago. Thought it was well-written, great plot and a great new series. I already ordered the next book!

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Finished up Button Holed (Button Box Mystery #1) by Kylie Logan this morning. I'm not sure how I felt about it - I think initially I didn't like the main character much. The ex just needs to go away. But by the end of the book, I liked her quite a bit more and I'll definitely read the next book.

Really? I'm glad you enjoyed it; I really wanted to like that one more than I did but I was put off by a number of things. There were one or two inconsistencies that jumped out at me (like Casey's hair being described as brown at the beginning of the book and later she talks about her "blond locks") and I also have issues continuing to follow & sympathize with the sleuth if she's running around quizzing people that frankly wouldn't seem suspicious to anyone else. Casey latched onto Joanna and the banking people far too quickly - it makes me wonder whether they had "SUSPECT" stamped across their foreheads, because I certainly wasn't seeing what Casey was! I still liked the book, though, so I'm definitely giving the next one a chance.
