I don't know if it got better. I found that the series annoyed me more and more with each book.

Nancy Bradford (nlb1050) | 77 comments Just finished A Deadly Snow Fall by Cynthia Gallant-Simpson and Loved it.

message 3054: by Ellen (new)

Ellen (elliearcher) Just finished Calamity Jayne by Kathleen Bacus -started out not caring for it at all and finished really liking Jayne & ready to start another in the series! I'm grateful she was this month's feature.

Yay! I felt the same way. She annoyed me to no end in the beginning and then I liked her by the end.

Caitlin C (caitkom) | 199 comments Just finished Alpine for You (Passport to Peril, #1) by Maddy Hunter . I really enjoyed it! Emily, the protagonist had a Stephanie Plum-esque vibe to her and I couldn't get enough of the members of the tour group! I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series!

message 3057: by Tracy T. (new)

Tracy T. I'm reading Vision Impossible (Psychic Eye Mystery #9) by Victoria Laurie and I'm having a hard time getting into it, which is very disappointing.

message 3059: by Naomi (new)

Naomi (tribalcat) | 307 comments I've just finished Diane Mott Davidson's Chopping Spree, the 11th in her Goldy Culinary series. This is a great series, the main characters are easy to relate to, and the plots are well-fleshed out and researched. The recipes sound so yummy, too!

message 3060: by Melodie (new)

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments Finished Tempest in the Tea Leaves (Fortune Teller Mystery, #1) by Kari Lee Townsend . It was an enjoyable read.

message 3063: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Randall (tammommy) I just finishedGrace Under Pressure.

This was the second book by Julie Hyzy that I have read, but the first in this series. I liked that he took her time to introduce u to the characters, there is a budding possible romance, but it wasn't rushed into and the characters are more real-life.

I reviewed it on my bookshelf, but don't know how to link that here. Sorry. I'm still learning my way around, have been on Goodread for awhile, but just yesterday joined my first group.

I've also become a real Levine fan-thanks to this wonderful site! I have to add
Pampered to Death (Jaine Austen Mysteries) by Laura Levine to my list.

adlin | 101 comments Just finished The Language of Bees (Mary Russell, #9) by Laurie R. King and enjoyed it.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Just finished up Kaleidoscope by Dorothy Gilman . I really enjoy this character and these books - it's a shame there aren't more of them.

Nancy Bradford (nlb1050) | 77 comments Just finished Death of a Trophy Wife (A Jaine Austen Mystery, #9) by Laura Levine and enjoyed it but not at the of my list to read again.

message 3068: by Jackie (new)

Jackie Finished Calamity Jayne by Kathleen Bacus . As others have mentioned, I didn't care for the book at all until about half way through. By the time I finished it, I found that I liked it. I guess Jayne grew on me or the writing really improved. I'll read more in the series.

message 3069: by Marge (new)

Marge (glasspizazz) Finshed A Killer Plot first in a new series. This author also rights under JB Stanley. Enjoyed this book, I liked that the main character was a bit prickly, and was a well off business woman, whining about money by business owners in some cozies gets a bit old.

Nola, I just downloaded this one to my Kindle. I enjoyed the first book!

message 3072: by Leslie (new)

Leslie I finished How to Survive a Killer Seance (Party Planning Mystery, #3) by Penny Warner last night. Except for her excessive ADHD comments I enjoyed the book. I will definately read the next one.

I love this series! One of my favorites. I've only been disappointed with one of them.

message 3075: by Ellen (new)

Ellen (elliearcher) Ok, Melodie, I can't stand it: which one were you disappointed with? (I have to try this series, btw, with such raves!)

Night of the Loving Dead (Pepper Martin, #4) by Casey Daniels , which is the 4th one, is the only one I didn't care for much. The others have been 4 & 5 stars for me. My favorite is the 3rd one Tombs of Endearment (Pepper Martin, #3) by Casey Daniels . It has a "Jim Morrison-esque" ghost!

message 3077: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Randall (tammommy) Well, I sat down and finished Death Swatch (A Scrapbooking Mystery, #6) by Laura Childs today. This is the 6th book in the Scrapbooking series, and since I scrapbook I find that I enjoy them. I can picture the techniques that they talk about, and have even tried some in my on book later.

message 3078: by Susan (new)

Susan I finished Stay Tuned for Murder. I gave it three stars as it held my interest well in the beginning, but then just seemed to drag out the time capsule theme.

message 3079: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Randall (tammommy) I'm on a reading binge at the moment, just finished Tragic Magic (A Scrapbooking Mystery, #7) by Laura Childs late last night.

I really like this series also. I just started Fiber and Brimstone (A Scrapbooking Mystery, #8) by Laura Childs this morning. I love to scrapbook, too, but haven't tried any of the ideas in the books (I always want to though! LOL)

Murder in Miniature
Margaret Grace

I read this book recently and can't wait to read the next book in the series.
The dollhouse/miniatures theme was fun and the author does character development really well.

Rebecca | 19 comments I finished How to Host a Killer Party (Party Planning, #1) by Penny Warner by Penny Warner last night. While I enjoyed the mystery of the book, I was really put off by the excessive foul language. For those that have read more of the series, is this the case in the entire series?

I've read all the ones that are available right now, but must say that I don't remember any excessive cussing. However that doesn't bother me anyway, so guess I'm not a good source. I probably wouldn't consider it excessive unless there was an "F-bomb" in every other paragraph!

Jennifer A. (jenn05042005) | 9 comments just finished Motif for Murder (A Scrapbooking Mystery, #4) by Laura Childs and Buried Stuff (Jane Wheel, #4) by Sharon Fiffer ... I read Buried Stuff in two marathon sittings; I couldn't put it down! And I'm glad Carmela has finally (I hope) gotten her feelings about her husband sorted out-- looking forward to the next ones in both series!

message 3092: by Caroline (new)

Caroline | 661 comments For those of you who didn't enjoy How to Host a Killer Party (Party Planning, #1) by Penny Warner , you might want to check out her Connor Westphal series. I thought that was excellent!

I just finished re-reading a couple of books I've saved including A Touch of Gold (A Missing Pieces Mystery, #2) by Joyce Lavene . I really like the Dae O'Donnell series.

Ariel (sevenmoonlight) | 138 comments I just finished reading The Broadway Murders by Agata Stanford . It features Dorothy Parker in the 1920's NY. I enjoyed it. I know there is another Dorothy Parker mystery series out there. Anybody read both?

message 3100: by Jennifer (last edited Aug 24, 2011 07:43AM) (new)

Jennifer A. (jenn05042005) | 9 comments I just finished reading The Quiche of Death yesterday. I thought Agatha was pretty un-likable at the beginning, but I actually really like her character for some reason. I think I can identify with her, about how difficult it can be to make friends, especially when she totally up-rooted her life and moved from London to a small town, where it seems that everybody knows everybody already. I've already got #2 in the series! (I could totally see her as a character in a BBC television production shown on PBS, too!)

The book title is pretty corny, though... if I hadn't read about this series here, I probably wouldn't have chosen it. Actually, I'm getting a LOT of good book recommendations from this group! It's great-- makes my trips in and out of the library a lot quicker!
