What Cozy Did You Just Finish Reading??? (Archive)
Just finished reading The Clairvoyant Countess by Dorothy Gilman, now reading the sequel written 25 years later--Kaleidoscope. Fun and fast.
I read
, and I must say I didn't care for it at all. I found all of the characters rather irritating.
I finished Drip Dead. It was OK, but I was frustrated that after the body was found in the first chapter, the next 50 or so pages were devoted to telling how much Georgie did not want her mother to live with her.
Just finished Dirty Rotten Tendrils by Kate Collins. Love that series. Also finished Skein of the Crime by Maggie Sefton - another favourite. Just love vacations - plenty of reading time. Just started Finger Lickin Dead by Riley Adams

I forced myself to finish it so I could use it for the August Challenge. Otherwise it would have gone back to the library unread.
Just finished Calamity Jayne instead of reading The Three Musketeers. I think another cozy is in my future!!
Just finished reading Kaleidoscope by Dorothy Gilman. Now thinking about reading a Michael Connelly. Not a cozy but a good summer read.
I started
while on vacation but it turned me off so I stopped reading it. Made myself finish it up today since I'm a bit behind on my yearly challenge. It didn't improve for me and I'll not be reading any more in this series.

I just finished
, and loved it. If you haven't yet met the Blackbird sisters, you're missing out on some good, fun books!
Just finished
. I won an Advanced Uncorrected Proof copy to review for another site. This was the first book by Tracy Kiely that I have read and enjoyed it very much and willhave to read the 2 previous books in this serives. I have added a review.
Finished
and
. Really liked the former but loved the latter. I think I just liked the family relationships in the second book a bit better. Both were good reads though. I enjoy the sort of paranormal aspect.

. I'll have it in the mail to you in a day or 2, Caroline!
Storm FrontThis is a great book, hard to put down. It combines a wizard, a mystery and a dash of humor. I enjoyed Dresden as a character and the story telling is just that. I felt like Dresden was telling the story only to me. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Glad you liked STORM FRONT. I hated it when I read it, but liked it when I listened to the audio a few years later. I'm currently reading GHOST STORY, the new Dresden book, and trying to make it last!

I just finished A Stitch In Crime by Betty Hechtman, and am now starting A Crafty Killing by Lorraine Bartlett.

Ah! I LOVE Dresden. Love love love.
Caroline wrote: "Finished

Just finished
. I was afraid I wasn't going to like it because of all the cheese talk, but I did...and plan on getting the 2nd book ;)
Just finished up
. I'm still not sure I like the marshal all that much - the author doesn't make him all that likeable to me. But I'll watch out for the next one to see what happens.
I finished Spanish Dagger last night and liked it. I like Susan Wittig Albert b/c her cozies aren't too fluffy and have substance.
I just finished the 3 Miss Margarets by Louise Shaffer. So good, finished it in two evenings. I love how she weaves the past into the present in her books.

[bookco..."I love Coben, too, but don't consider him "cozy" at all. I don't care for his standalones, but love the Myron Bolitar books and have read all of them. I have his YA Mickey Bolitar book on order at Amazon. It comes out 9/6.

[bookco..."Kyle, have you checked out the Mystery/Thriller board here on GR? It's called M/T Reading Friends. I've been a member of it for a couple of years now. It's a group of people who mostly migrated over here after AOL started shutting down their boards, and hardboiled & thriller type mysteries are pretty much the order of the day over there.
Even though I seem to be "in between reads" due to headaches right now, I am thoroughly enjoying your posts and my TBR pile is growing by the day!
Sherry wrote: "I just finished

[bookco..."Yep - Coben is highly entertaining. One of my favorites.
Just finished
. I'm wondering if this will be the last book in the series? The ending kind of gave me that impression.
I just finished Quick Service
I'm a huge fan of Wodehouse's Jeeves and Wooster short stories, but this is the first time I've read this novel of his. Absolutely hilarious with hoot out-loud sentences that you read again just to savor them again. I highly recommend this funny, classic read.
I just finished Choke
By Kaye George. I can't wait for the second in the series. Choke is a humorous cozy and it's wonderful. Humor, they say, is hard to write, and George is great at it. Somehow she manages to balance a wonderful mystery, a mother/daughter relationship that rings true on all levels and never lose her light touch. Well done!
Just finished
, the first I've read by Kathleen Ernst. I really enjoyed it and plan to read the second book in the series.
Just finished
. Very satisfying. Nasty & funny. Poor old Agatha (although she's younger-very slightly-than me!

I'm partway through the second one right now, and I agree with you-- she's kind of annoying, how she's trying to worm herself into the investigation just because she's the one who found the body.

I'm just the opposite. I prefer Cricket McRae's series over Laura Levine's. I quit reading Levine's books after the one where she was on a cruise. She just seemed to be trying too hard to be funny. I like that McRae's books are more "real".
