What Cozy Did You Just Finish Reading??? (Archive)

Zoe wrote: "Kaye wrote: "Zoe wrote: "I finished

I think Debbie Reynolds should do really good as Grandma, she is really good with comedy.
Zoe wrote: "Kaye wrote: "Zoe wrote: "I finished

Jeanette wrote: "I should really stop reading these posts. It gives me too many ideas for books I want to read! :)"I agree, my wish list for my Kindle just keeps growing and growing. Just need to find the money to buy them.
I just finished reading
. Nancy Martin was a new author to me; I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and will certainly continue with the Blackbird Sisters series. This "cozy" had a little bit of an "edge" to it, which gave it a flavor all it's own. It's not a series I'm likely to confuse with any other one I've read!
I just finished Tracy Kiely's Murder on the Bride's Side. It's got hints of Jane Austen in it, and a twist at the end I didn't see coming.
PS: how do you get the book covers to insert neatly where you want them?!
Currently reading Sentenced to Death by Lorna Barrett. Also reading Bound by Suggestion by L.L. Bartlett (Jeff Resnick Mysteries) on my Kindle. These are actually the same author with different pseudonyms. I really enjoy her Booktown Mysteries and this is my first foray into her Jeff Resnick Mysteries.

At all.She drove me nuts and I had a very hard time not getting angry with her towards the end of the series. Very annoying.
Mick was a very interesting character and try as I might, I could not picture his face as being scary or ugly (or however it was described).
Has anyone read her Roxy Abruzzo series?
Is it any good?

The default postion for the book cover or title links is at the end what you have typed. You can either click add book/author and insert it as you write or you can cut and paste the bracketed info where you want it to go. To do this there have to be spaces between the text and the bracketed book cover/title.
Nancy wrote: "Jeanette wrote: "I should really stop reading these posts. It gives me too many ideas for books I want to read! :)"Well, this gives me an opening to mention that my latest book, Old Murders Never Die, is now up on Kindle. Long story short, it's about being stranded in an old ghost town. That's it. I won't say anything else, but I'm excited about this one.
Melodie wrote: "Kaye wrote: "Zoe wrote: "I finished

Marja wrote: "Melodie wrote: "Kaye wrote: "Zoe wrote: "I finished

Not too sure about the Morelli and Ranger casting. The person playing Morelli is Irish?
I noticed some people said they don't picture Katherine Heigl as Stephanie. Who do you picture then? Since I knew who was playing Stephanie before I read any of the books, it's who I picture by default.

It's a good thing I was in the house alone or they'd had been really worried about me!
I find I can only read like two in a row and then I have to walk away from the series for a few months. Three books is just too much.

Thank you for the suggestion Marja. I am excited to read your books!

Marja, I have added you rbook to my Kindle wish list.

Toni in the past Sandra Bullock and Reese Witherspoon were both mentioned to play Stephanie. I would have been fine with either of them.
Heidi (ok you can listen to me) wrote: "Toni in the past Sandra Bullock and Reese Witherspoon were both mentioned to play Stephanie. I would have been fine with either of them."Ah this is news to me, thanks!
Not sure that I can picture Reese as Stephanie. Reese seems to innocent and naive. Sandra Bullock on the other hand I can totally see.
Karen wrote: "I just finished two cozies:

It does get progressively better with each new entry, as she fleshes out the characters. The last one was the best. I was sad to find out there would be no more. Good mysteries with Witches treated realistically and respectfully are hard to come by. While I enjoy Madelyn Alt's books, I liked Shirley Damsgaard's better.

Anne Morgan Guilbert played The Nanny's grandmother Yetta. She would be perfect but not too sure she is still alive.
I just finished Agatha Raisin and the Wellspring of Death
- a quick fun read. I picked up this series again last month when MC Beaton was our featured author.
Jeanette wrote: "I should really stop reading these posts. It gives me too many ideas for books I want to read! :)"Thank you, Jeanette. Really. :)
Nola wrote: "Just finished

I finished Unholy Death in Princeton yesterday. It was OK, but was a little too "preachy" about the differences between Princeton University and the theological seminary. I figured out one of the murderers well before the end of the book, although the two protagonists, McLeod and Fiona, stumbled on the solution by accident.

At first I didn't think I'd like it but I'm glad I stuck with it.
Dru - I think I'm falling behind! LOL (Or I'm just reading in different order!) I just finished
and now have to read
and
. : ) I'm having a great time this summer (when it isn't to stinkin' hot!).

Thank you so much, Nancy. I'm leaving for a conference today, and I'd hoped the new book would be here so I could take some copies with me, but it didn't happen. Oh well...
Somehow I pictured Lula as taller like M'onique or Queen Latifah not Sherry Sheppard but Sherry is funny. Anne Morgan Guilbert played The Nanny's grandmother Yetta. She would be perfect but not too sure she is still alive.
I couldn't think of her name. Thanks. And I agree about Lula, although I'm not familiar with Sherry Sheppard. Probably seen her but can't put a name with her.
I pictured Queen L. and Monique too. I picture Lula as tall and larger than life and both those women could play that. Oh well, we'll see how Sherry does.
Nancy wrote: "Sherry is exactly what I pictured for Lula."I have just never seen her act. I am sure she will be fine.

She's on 30 Rock sometimes. You should definitely check out those episodes. I think her character on there has some of Lula's attitude.
Toni! I just realized after you said that she is Tracy's wife on 30 Rock - love her on there! Can't believe I missed that. That makes me feel good about her as Lula. Thanks :)
I finished
last night, too, and liked it a lot. Think I still prefer the Cupcake Bakery series, but this one was great. Liked all the references to other authors! Especially the little old lady who was a Black Dagger Brotherhood fan!
Just finished listening to
. Love the narrator. I'll have to see if I can find more of them at the library.

What do you think of Debbie Reynolds being cast as Grandma Mazur?
