What Cozy Did You Just Finish Reading??? (Archive)

Kimmie

I checked Heather's website. There will be another Lucy Valentine mystery - YEA!!
And she is starting a Witchcraft series with the first book due in January 2012.

You've definitely been missing out! Loved the first 2 in this series. My copy of A PARFAIT MURDER has been shipped so am really looking forward to getting it!

Ooh, how exciting! Glad to know you loved the first two. Thanks, Melodie!

I've read a few of these and will probably read a few more but I have to admit the author's use of "wailing" sticks out so badly that I'm pretty convinced she doesn't actually know what the word means.

I haven't read a Matthew Scudder book in years. I don't quite consider them cozies, tho.

Plus, cat lovers - here's another one for you! Highly recommended for a nice summer read. I think book 2 is coming out later this year.

I finished

I enjoyed

I just finished the third 1920s Daisy Dalrymple mystery -
by Carola Dunn, in which Daisy's next-door neighbor is dramatically murdered on stage by poison. The love interest between Daisy and detective Fletcher continues to develop. An enjoyable read.

I'm reading this one on my Kindle right now and enjoying it very much!

I was wondering about this because I love her daytime series too. Thanks for your thoughts.

I've read the first two in this series and I did the exact same thing - comparing it to the daytime series pretty much guarantees disappointment. But I've got the third one and I'm going to give it a try - some of the characters grew on me in the last book so I'm hoping the mental comparison will fade.

Nooo are you kidding i love this series.

Oh good there was too much still left open.

So you'd recommend the series, Jennifer? I randomly picked up A Rose from the Dead from the library and was thoroughly unimpressed with it, but I've read a number of reviews that said it was an uncharacteristically bad one, so I'm pondering whether I should give the series a second chance.

Not Jennifer, but I recommend it. A ROSE FROM THE DEAD was probably my least favorite of the series.

I really enjoy both of Elaine Viets' series. I saw her do an interview where she said that with her Dead End Job series, she actually works each job before she writes the books so she honestly knows what she's talking about.
