What Cozy Did You Just Finish Reading??? (Archive)

they really are very good.

Agreed! I'm done with this series after this one, too!

I thought this one was much better than the other 2 also.

Having said that, the story was good, and the author did a good job with character development and setting. But I don't know if I'll read another in the series or not.

The new one comes out this Tuesday! Looking forward to it!

I thought Sinister Sprinkles was better than the first 2. But it's still not a great series. Still not a series I like enough to buy the books.

How'd you like "Cookie Dough", Susie?"
Melodie, I thought it started out really slow and I didn't really get interested until I was half way thru. Sometimes it just takes me awhile to get used to new characters, so I will give the next one a try.
Not too sure about this "monkey" book either. I think others liked it more than I'm enjoying it ;(

I saw the new one at Border's yesterday.
Finished Faux Finished by Peg Marberg. Can't say I really cared for this one. I had a hard time getting into the plot and keeping track of characters, even with the cheat sheet included in front of the book. The editing in this one left a lot to be desired too. The thing that made me cringe the most was reference to Christie's "Hercule Perot." Cringe. Shudder. It would be bad enough for any other genre to get Poirot's name wrong, but in a mystery?! Simply unexcusable! Will probably (eventually) read the second book in this series only because it is on my shelf. Both books were thrift store finds.

Nora Roberts writes across several genres. The 1st and 4th in the Bride Quartet series are the best ones. I like her romantic suspense novels. I have a few mysteries she's written as JD Robb in my TBR pile. Dru's commments and yours will move them up. Based on other comments you've made here, you might find Roberts' Circle Trilogy, starting with Morrigan's Cross, or the Sign of Seven trilogy, starting with Blood Brothers, more to your liking.

Have you read Hess's other series? I like the Maggody series better than that series.

Karen,
The first few in the Claire Malloy series are really very good. The longer the series has gone on, the weaker it has become. I would go back and read some of the earlier ones to see if you like them a little better.

You're right about Caron. The way she treats her mom and her BFF Inez is annoying. That character could have been developed into a lot more and wasn't.

i think that this was a real good book i cant wait to get the next one

Okay, you've both convinced me to give the series another try. This time I will try to get the first book in the series. Thanks for your input!

I just kept feeling that since it was Book #8 she should have been a bit smarter about staying out of dark alleys and dark houses and dark parking lots??!! LOL

Just finished
, the second in Carola Dunn's series featuring bold and charming 1920s amateur sleuth, The Honorable Daisy Dalrymple and Scotland Yard detective Alec Fletcher. Delightful series so far.

I really like this series too!

I think that perhaps the Mystery Group's May read The Coroner's Lunch could be called a Laotian cozy as it's rather quiet.

I used to like this series, but stopped reading it after the one where she went on a cruise. It was just TOO over the top!

And, if you are in for a quick fun read pick up Paws for Alarm and join a family taking a trip to England for a few months. An adventure turns into a mystery when someone begins trying to kill the husband. Arnold finds himself at the wheel of a car with no brakes and a vehicle out of control. An accident? Then he is attacked by a group of rugby players on the train platform, one of whom comes at him with a knife. Lastly, while waiting in line for a bus someone gives him a shove in the back pushing him into the path of a bus. What is happening to this poor American who has come to England to pursue his research? The truth is a tangle that needs to be unraveled.

Uh-oh: I'll be sure to look out for that one. This is pretty close to the top on its own! I hope there's a few before that one, though *wistfully*

I felt the same way about the 2 of these. What a shame #1 was really good and #2 was really bad.
