What Cozy Did You Just Finish Reading??? (Archive)
Just finished Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder. I know lots of people like the series, but the book moved too slowly for me and the author reatedly recaped what was going on. I like stories where you have to follow what is going on and you are not told everything. I just read Catering to Nobody right before reading this and liked that one a lot better.
Just finished "A Snake in the Glass" by Sarah Atwell.Really like the main character, she seems smart, perceptive and knows when to step in without being obnoxious and the supporting characters are fun too!
I just finished Bookplate Special by Lorna Barrett. This was a really good story. This book had some real substance to the story and covered a group that many don't talk about "freegans" or those who dumpster dive to survive (as well as those that participate to make a statement about how much we waste in our country). There was a preview for the next book in the series that will be called "Chapter and Hearse". It picks up with sister Angelica's first book signing. I'm looking forward to reading it, I hate how long we have to wait between books in the series that we really love!
Hey, Melodie: Finally finished A Touch of Dead, and did enjoy the stories. Man...I want what Sookie got for Christmas! ;)
I just finished the second book in the Vicky Bliss series, "Street of the Five Moons" and it was a really fun read. Peters seemed to hit her stride with Vicky in this book. I enjoyed it much more than the first, and I look forward to continuing with the series.

I just finished Plum Pudding Murder by Joanne Fluke. A fast read and an enjoyable mystery. I do enjoy her books. Wished I could read more new from her more often.
Just finished Joanna Fluke's Plum Pudding Murder last night. I really liked this one. It had a bit more excitement to the ending. She is doing a good job of keeping the plot's interesting and different.
I just finished Joanna Carl's The Chocolate Cupid Killing. I enjoy the series. They are quick light reads.
I just finished Embroidered Truths by Monica Ferris.I enjoyed this book, I did not expect the "ending".
I really have enjoyed all of Monica Ferris's books that I have read.

I like Betsy Devonshire a lot, too. I am a couple behind--I've only read through Knitting Bones, book 11 in the series. I need to stop reading "new to me" series and catch up with some of my "old favorites", like Monica Ferris. Thanks for reminding me of a series that I really like.
Post a giveaway on my blog for Ian Rankin's Exit Music. Stop by and enter to win.http://masoncanyon.blogspot.com

Thanks for the review!

I just finished How to Wash a Cat. Would the group be interested in a separate thread to discuss this book. I was left a little (or maybe alot) confused by the ending and would like to discuss this new book/series as a separate thread if several would be interested.

It was throwing me off. No name, not even a description of her. I know that sounds trivial, but having these things helps me picture the character while I read the book. From what I was able to get from some reviews of the book, she is finally "named" at the end. I will go ahead and continue the book and when I am done, I will let you know. I don't know whether to be intrigued by this book or start feeling frustrated at the outset...
Kelley wrote: "Denise wrote: "I just finished How to Wash a Cat. Would the group be interested in a separate thread to discuss this book. Actually it is pretty stupid and I'm not sure why the author did this and didn't just use it throughout the book. Rather than feel frustrated just open the book to the last page and look, it really won't affect the story at all.
Eggs Benedict Arnold
No big deal but also kind of fun for a relaxing read I didn't have to pay much attention to.
I just finished reading Hail to the Chef by Julie Hyzy. I actually enjoyed this book more than the first one in the series. I love the behind scenes in the White House and the description of the rooms and feel of the building. I think the author is allowing the reader to really get an idea of who the lead character is and everything she is about. I also like the fact that the author offers no political agenda in her story telling. The President in the book is ambiguous in his political background and that is a definite plus. If I want politics I'll read the NY Times or watch MSNBC. I'm looking forward to the next one in the series and any more that follow.
I'm still reading Aunt Dimity takes a Holiday by Nancy Atherton, my father passed away last week so I am behind on everything.I also just started Biggie and the Mangled Mortican and I think the author is Nancy Bell.
Pam
Sorry for your loss Pamela. My Dad passed away on 12/7/05 and I still miss him each and every day.Sending you lots of prayers and big hugs. Hang in there.....

In fact she is guest posting at my blog Thursday and giving away a copy of Hail to the Chef.
Today on mine and Terri's blog Cynthia Hickey is blogging she is a cozy author and wrote Fudge-Laced Felonies. our blog addy ishttp://mayhemandmagic2.blogspot.com

I just read Spin a Wicked Web by Cricket McRae. She has 2 other craft mysteries out there. Easy fun reading. Always interesting info on various crafts and small town life.

I think this is the best of the 3 series she writes. I also like the Tea Shop series, tho I know many don't. Don't care for the scrapbooking series at all, as it's not a subject I have any interest in.
I just finished The Shaman Laughs, the second of the Charlie Moon series (Ute Indians). I liked this one a little better than the first, I will continue with the series and see if it grows on me.
I just finished Town in a Blueberrry Jam by B.B. Haywood. It is the first in a new series. It was an okay read, not sure how much I liked the lead character though. She doesn't seem to be someone who has much empathy for people, but that maybe because of her past history with her husband. I will probably read the 2nd in the series, when it comes out, and will reserve judgment until then.
I just finished the first three in the Harper Connelly series by Charlaine Harris Grave Sight An Ice Cold Grave Grave Surprise and I look forward to reading the fourth in the series. These are not highly complex mysteries and I typically solve them before the final conclusion. But they are enjoyable.
Thanks Melodie! I added Something Borrowed, Something Bleu to my Wish List. I really like that series.I just finished Wiped Out by Barbara Colley. The bad person was just a little too obvious, but the story was OK.
Dru wrote: "I just finished reading If Books Could Kill by Kate Carlisle and this was the best one yet in this series."Good to know. I have it coming up soon!
Amy wrote: "Just finished Dune to Death by Mary Daheim. Great cozy read. "Ah, one of the early Bed & Breakfast mysteries. Are you reading the whole series? I like both of Mary's series. I like the Emma Lord series better than the Bed & Breakfast series but have been long time reader of both.
Dru wrote: "I just finished The Diva Paints the Town by Krista Davis and it was the best one yet in the series."Great to hear about this one! I have it next on my list to read right after I finish the two I have going now :)
Susie in KS wrote: "I just finished Raining Cat Sitters and Dogs by Blaize Clement. I always enjoy this series ;)"Me, too! I really like Dixie. She's a very well drawn character.
Dru wrote: "I just finished The Diva Paints the Town by Krista Davis and it was the best one yet in the series."Good to know! I'll be starting this one over the weekend probably.
I just finished Thereby Hangs a Tail by Spencer Quinn. I love Chet. The book makes me look at my dog in a whole new way ;)
Just finished "Murder Boogies with Elvis" by Anne Geoerge. ( cute, but sad to say, last from an author who passed in 2001)The Diva Paints the Town by Krista Davis and "If Books Could Kill" by Kate Carlisle. The Diva was very good and I loved the comaraderie between the characters and a very interesting mystery! My favorite was "If Books..." very funny, witty, couldn't put this down! A Book about books! If you haven't read this series ( there are two in the series) give it a try!
I finished Holiday Grind and it was another good one in the series. I really love all the great coffee and goodie recipes in this one too. Now I have to finish Grave Sight.
alicia wrote: "I finished Holiday Grind and it was another good one in the series. I really love all the great coffee and goodie recipes in this one too.
