Susie Fevella (susieinks) | 821 comments Just finished Aye Do or Die (Darcy Cavanaugh, #2) by Candy Calvert . I enjoyed this one more than the first book.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) I finished up Deadly Collection by Elaine Flinn last night. This is a series I started when it first came out, really liked it, then somehow it dropped off my radar until one of you kind souls reminded me about it. :) There are only the last two I hadn't read but I finally tracked them down and I'm enjoying having them. :)

message 2403: by Ellen (new)

Ellen (elliearcher) Just read Death of an Outsider (Hamish Macbeth, #3) by M.C. Beaton M.C. Beaton today. I think I'm seriously addicted to Hamish Macbeth.

message 2404: by Ellen (new)

Ellen (elliearcher) Uh-oh. I see a new addiction coming on :O

Have you read it? If so, what do you think?
(And no, I didn't know)

Liz | 42 comments Between reading Hell's Corner by David Baldacci & Room by Emma Donoghue (an EXCELLENT book, by the way) I managed to slip in a cozy - Maid for Murder (Charlotte LaRue Mystery, #1) by Barbara Colley which I enjoyed. I'm about halfway thru Happy Never After (Callahan Garrity Mystery, #4) by Kathy Hogan Trocheck now.

Finished Celebrity Sudoku by Kaye Morgan over the weekend, an okay read. Looks like the love triangle may finally be resolved. Also wondering, by way this one ended, if there will be more to come or if this is the last in this series.

message 2408: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Noel (1972booklover) Just finished Vintage Murder by Ngaio Marsh . It was pretty good. I am enjoying Ngaio Marsh's books.

I've read a few of Ngaio Marsh's books, not the one you've read, but I've always enjoyed her. She's up there with Margery Allingham and Dame Agatha.

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments Finished Night of the Living Dandelion (A Flower Shop Mystery, #11) by Kate Collins yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. One of my favorites in the series! Currently reading One Was a Soldier (Clare Fergusson and Russ Van Alstyne Mysteries, #7) by Julia Spencer-Fleming and Vision in White (Bride Quartet, #1) by Nora Roberts . The Nora Roberts book is not my usual kind of read, but I'm actually liking it!

message 2411: by Mollie (new)

Mollie (molliebee) | 53 comments I just finished "Pushing Up Daisies" by Rosemary Harris. I LOVED it.

message 2412: by alicia (last edited Apr 18, 2011 05:11PM) (new)

alicia grant (shesha556) Just about finished with Fatally Frosted (Donut Shop Mystery #2) by Jessica Beck and while it okay I can tell it's not going to be a favorite series. I just have to much of an issue with some of the conversations the people in the book have with each other.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Just finished up Aunt Dimity and the Family Tree.
I love this series and have from the first book. These are cozy mysteries, but without any murder. Always a delight to read. :)

I just started [bookcover:One Was a Soldier|6388272] also. I just love this series and author.

message 2415: by Tammy (new)

Tammy Kaehler (tammykaehler) Oops, party foul, posted in the wrong thread. Sorry everyone! I got so excited about Melodie reading the same book that I just hit reply.

I just finished Roast Mortem (Coffeehouse Mystery, #9) by Cleo Coyle , which I liked (slowly worked through that series again). I'm slow on the monthly challenges, but I get there!

message 2416: by Susie (new)

Susie Fevella (susieinks) | 821 comments I only listened to this book because it was available on my library's audio site... Secrets of a Shoe Addict by Beth Harbison . It was at least entertaining to listen to while I work out at the gym ;)

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Just finished Buried Bones (Sarah Booth Delaney, #2) by Carolyn Haines last night. I enjoyed this book quite a bit. The characters, the sense of place, and the mystery sucked me in and the authors talented writing had me in Zinnia Mississippi for the duration. I'm not sure how I feel about the revolving door of men that seem to be in Sarah Booth's future as I really enjoy watching the romantic part of the story build up over time in a series, but I'm willing to read a few more to find out.

message 2418: by Sandra J (new)

Sandra J Weaver (sandraweaver) | 308 comments I finished Best In Show (Melanie Travis Mysteries, #10) by Laurien Berenson . I'm not a huge fan of first person POV, but this was okay although I found the narrator kind of annoying. The setting was interesting, and the plot was okay. I may try another in the series since my library has several of them.

message 2419: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I finished reading Live Free or Die. It's a good book, if you want a break from the intense, complicated reads.

message 2420: by [deleted user] (new)

I just finished The Alpine Betrayal (Emma Lord Mystery #2) by Mary Daheim and enjoyed it just as much as the first in the series featuring small-town newspaper owner Emma Lord, who is an engaging narrator. Brisk plot, lively characters, puzzling crime, and tangled romantic subplot keep things moving along nicely.

message 2421: by Sandra J (new)

Sandra J Weaver (sandraweaver) | 308 comments I really enjoyed
The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie (Flavia de Luce, #1) by Alan Bradley and The Weed That Strings the Hangman's Bag (Flavia de Luce, #2) by Alan Bradley . But I really enjoyed the audio versions of both books. Flavia came to life-especially her glee when discussing chemistry and poison.

message 2422: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Noel (1972booklover) Just finished The Cat Who Tailed a Thief (Cat Who..., #19) by Lilian Jackson Braun . I picked it up cheap at the library. I read it and now it's listed on my PBS and BookMooch sites to swap. I do that with quite a few cozies. I think I'm going to read Flowers of Evil by John Sherwood next.

message 2423: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) Dru wrote: "I finished Deadly Notions (Southern Sewing Circle Mystery, #4) by Elizabeth Lynn Casey by Elizabeth Lynn Casey and I loved it."

I have this coming up very soon in my TBR so I'm glad to hear good things about it.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Just finished Anthem for Doomed Youth (Daisy Dalrymple, #19) by Carola Dunn last night. I like the way the author tied real events into the plot for this story and I like that Daisy sees the difference between justice and law. :) I hope Ms. Dunn has many more Daisy Dalrymple mysteries up her sleeve.

message 2425: by Maryalice (new)

Maryalice | 10 comments I just finished reading the ARC of Julie Hyzy new book. It's great!! It's the second in the Manor House Mysteries. It's called "Grace Interrupted". I love the way Ms. Hyzy describes the Manor and the grounds. She builds the suspense. Really a great read!!

message 2426: by Susan (new)

Susan Just finished The Fashion Police: The fashion business just got deadly... (Comedy Mystery) by Sibel Hodge who is a Goodreads author. Lots of sub-plots in this book, but everything ties up nicely in the end. Comparisons have been drawn between Amber Fox and Stephanie Plum, but Amber is way more competent (although there is that scene where she gets green paint in her hair. . .).

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments Finished Cookie Dough or Die (Cookie Cutter Shop Mystery, #1) by Virginia Lowell and really enjoyed it!

Sherry | 137 comments Just read Truly, Madly (Lucy Valentine, #1) by Heather Webber today, and loved it. When I started it, I didn't think I was going to like it. Was I ever wrong! Read it straight through, and can hardly wait to read the next in the series, Deeply, Desperately (Lucy Valentine, #2) by Heather Webber .

message 2437: by Nora-adrienne (new)

Nora-adrienne (nora_adrienne) I read Sinister Sprinkles and Fruit of all Evil this week. I gave them both 4 stars and will post a review of them on my blog site sometime this afternoon.

Shannon (dolphinlover) | 290 comments Cow Crimes and the Mustang Menace (Ruby Taylor Mystery #3) by Sharon Dunn and I loved it. I was satisfied with the ending of the series.

message 2439: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Noel (1972booklover) Dune to Death (Bed-and-Breakfast Mysteries #4) by Mary Daheim and I didn't care for it. This was my first Mary Daheim book, and could be my last. I did pick up The Alpine Gamble (Emma Lord Mystery, #7) by Mary Daheim at the library, so I may try it. I sure hope it's a better book!

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Just finished Capable of Murder by Brian Kavanagh . Very average book. The author has talent but his characters interact in a very clumsy way and his female protagonist acts as though she has been written by a man. The idea for the plot was a good one and the author draws the scene very well, but otherwise, not great.

I very much want to read some Sara Rosett but I'm having a hard time finding her. Hopefully soon.

message 2442: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Noel (1972booklover) Went ahead and read The Alpine Gamble (Emma Lord Mystery, #7) by Mary Daheim and really didn't like it either. No more Mary Daheim for me!

Ariel (sevenmoonlight) | 138 comments I just finished Blast from the Past by Toni L. P. Kelner Blast From the Past. I enjoyed it and will read the next in the series.

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments Need to pick a cozy from The Pile. I just finished Bed of Roses (Bride Quartet, #2) by Nora Roberts and REALLY didn't like it. I liked the first one in this series, but this one just reminded me why I usually steer far away from Nora Roberts! The books were a gift, so I figured I'd give them a shot. I have the other 2 in the series, but won't hurry to read them. Don't know how I can dislike her usual stuff so much, but then like the "In Death" books!

message 2445: by Ellen (new)

Ellen (elliearcher) I just finished Oolong Dead (A Tea Shop Mystery, #10) by Laura Childs by Laura Childs which I liked quite a bit. I enjoyed the descriptions of the tea (even though I am myself a coffee drinker) & the shop & the chief protagonist. She wasn't special but I found her very likable & easy to be with. I look forward to reading more in this series. I'd like to try out the recipes too, they looked delicious.
I was disappointed in You Bet Your Life (Murder, She Wrote, #18) by Jessica Fletcher . It gave me my "Y" for the A-Z challenge & I loved the tv show. This was the first Murder She Wrote that I read & I found myself wishing I could just flip it to TV. Jessica's voice was fine & the plot was interesting enough but the Las Vegas locale left me bored-the descriptions were not interesting & most of the characters were disappointing as well. I'm hoping it's just this book. Or that I wasn't in the right mood. It happens. I try not to judge a book in a series too much by just one of the books since the writing is often uneven. I've read in posts here people who loved this series, so maybe the next one!

You're not alone, Ellie! I remember watching some of the episodes when it was on TV, but just could not get into the two books I read last November. I know many here love this series, but I had difficulty getting into the author's voice, and the plots seemed to drag.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Just finished The Vintage Caper by Peter Mayle and really enjoyed it! The characters were well written, the scenery gorgeous and the story very clean and enjoyable.

The Jessica Fletcher books were a featured author last fall (November?). You'll find comments in that discussion thread which is probably archived. I loved the series, but had a hard time getting into the book. I ended up thinking it was ok. Sometimes it felt like I was reading a movie script.

Nell | 1223 comments I just finished April Fool Dead April Fool Dead (Death on Demand, #13) by Carolyn Hart by Carolyn Hart. It was another good read. I narrowed down the suspects to two just before Annie did, then picked the wrong one. Oh well, I got the motive right.
As usual, I finished this Death on Demand book with more mysteries added to my TBR.
