I just finished this one recently as well. For some reason I didn't like it is as much as I like the others, but I know I will keep reading this series! I love it! Murder by Mocha coming August 2011.

Melodie, I'm patiently waiting for this one from my library...glad you liked it! It took me forever to read the rest of this series.

Zoe, you did better than me...I had to stop after the first three books ;(

I had a slow start due to work being busy and my being tired, but the other evening I whipped right through it when I decided my neck and arms needed a break from computing and knitting. I really enjoyed it once I got far enough in to be more invested in the characters and the sub-plots.
It probably falls more into the soft-boiled detective than a true cozy. In common contemporary form it involves a fair bit of romance and sexual tension, though nothing too terribly graphic. I enjoyed it enough to be considering the Kindle bundle with the first 5 books of the series for $9.99. This one I had gotten free at some point.

I really enjoyed that book too, Dru. And the weird thing is, my middle sister collects cookie cutters. I guess I had no idea it was such a collectible. LOL

I didn't care for the first one and didn't try the second. Maybe I'll just jump ahead and give this one a try ;)

Ugh! Sloppy editing is one of my biggest peeves.

Thanks everyone. :D
I think. ;}

very good."
This is a fun series. You have several good reads ahead in this one.

Finished The Ghost and The Haunted Mansion last night. Another good addition to the series, and really liked what this book said about censorship and not judging what other people read. This comes up as customers complain about a racy standee used to promote a new thriller. Here is what Penelope's Aunt Sadie says on the topic:
"[Customers] are perfectly free to purchase what they like to read. In this store, everyone is, and no one will ever be made to feel bad about reading whatever speaks to them, whatever makes them happy. Did you know a St. Francis (local college in the book) Ph.D. candidate once asked me in serious, earnest tones why I sell cozy mysteries?
"...Apparently this young man hadn't heard that Agatha Christie is one of the most widely read authors in the English language, and the genre in which she excelled is still very much alive and loved, not to mention one of our most popular sales categories.
"Should I stop selling the Yarn Spinners their favorite books because some young man, paying oodles of money to read a professor's syllabus, has an opinion about what some of my very best customers 'should' be reading?"
* * *
"I'm not saying...that this year's roster of bestselling authors will stand the test of time. But, you know, the novel itself was once considered a 'disreputable' genre; and some of the greatest books ever written--in my humble opinion--would be dismissed today as 'popular' fiction, given the literary theories of the moment. And I do mean moment, dear."
* * *
"Academia can be as changeable and trendy as the rest of society in what it decides to deem worthy, and people who go out of their way to make others feel bad about their enjoyment of a particular book, even an entire genre, are missing the bigger picture.
"At a time when fewer and fewer adults are reading anything, we should be celebrating enthusiasm, not condemning it.
"Be careful... 'My' books are good and yours are bad' is a dangerous Animal Farm game... For some people, 'erudition' is nothing more than a vehicle for hostility and arrogance; 'good taste' merely an excuse for condescension--or worse, censorship."

I just took out

Alicia, at least you finished it ;) I just didn't care for the characters and finally set it aside. Too bad, because I love the book covers!

I was a little leery of the vampire aspect too but it turned out okay. I really liked the story and the mystery was well done. You're so right about the latest development. I'm anxious to see where that goes. Great series!

I'm almost done with this one and am enjoying it. Would have been fine with me if it had turned into a "vampire" story!
