Toni (cherrycherry) | 57 comments Just finished Killer Cuts (Dead-End Job Mystery, # 8) by Elaine Viets . You'd think after so many books in a series you'd get a bit bored with it, but Viets does a great job of keeping you interested and wanting more. Love all of the twists (big or small). Plus Margery Flax is just awesome.

Rosemary | 78 comments I just finished: If Books Could Kill If Books Could Kill (A Bibliophile Mystery, #2) by Kate Carlisle It was a fun read. Her characters are fun and quirky and the story always has some interesting aspect of the world of book restoration. A good cozy!

message 2203: by Mary (new)

Mary I just finished A Killer Stitch by Maggie Sefton. Interestingly it takes place in the pre-Christmas season and the next book on my nightstand is Holiday Grind by Cleo Coyle and it also takes place around the Christmas holiday. I'm glad I am jsut reading about snow drifts and wintry temps and not having to deal with them.

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments I finishd Scones & Bones (A Tea Shop Mystery) by Laura Childs and have finally decided this series has worn itself out for me. Theo's "frenemy" Delaine is such a pill in this one that I don't think I could stand to read another page involving her.........EVER!

I'm with you on Delaine, Melodie! I wish Theo would get some backbone and tell her to buzz off, not give in and do whatever she asks.

message 2206: by Sarah (new)

Sarah I just finished "Truely, Madly" by Heather Webber, and adored it. Lucy Valentine is likable and hilarious.

message 2207: by Lis (new)

Lis Carey (lis_carey) | 1 comments I just finished Killer Pancake and really enjoyed it. The first Goldy Bear mystery I read was Dark Tort, which is much later in the series, and didn't care for it. I thought there was something there, though, and that maybe the reason it didn't grab me is because there was too much backstory I hadn't read. Turns out I was right, and I will be reading more of these.

Nell | 1223 comments I just finished Murder of a Bookstore Babe (Scumble River Mystery, #13) by Denise Swanson Murder of a Bookstore Babe by Denise Swanson. I liked it - 4 stars. It was a good mystery and the characters are moving forward. I enjoy the clever names the author gives each chapter that tie to what's happening in the story.
But who is designing her book covers? This one is particularly unappealing. Her early books had such beautiful covers then they became much plainer. Maybe she changed publisher.
My problem with the story line is the guy who won't take no for an answer. (Since others may not have read this far in the series I won't be specific.) It's really annoying me. He claims that he doesn't want to change her while trying to get her to change her mind and choose him. She's carried that plot line 2 or 3 books too far to suit me. When a guy won't take no for an answer that's not romance, it's disrespect.

message 2209: by Kris (new)

Kris (planetcaddick) I just finished Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder. I totally needed to read a cozy right now after reading all the text books for school! I enjoyed it very much

message 2210: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) Just finished Stitch Me Deadly by Amanda Lee and it's one of the better modern cozies I've read-- thoroughly enjoyed it. I'll definitely be reading the rest of the series as it emerges.

Catherine (catjackson) Kris wrote: "I just finished Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder. I totally needed to read a cozy right now after reading all the text books for school! I enjoyed it very much"

I hear ya Kris! I'm doing nothing much but reading text books too and wish I had more time to read cozies. I'm in the middle of a Masters Degree and teaching, but I'm also in the middle of Wreath of Deception. Text books just didn't cut it anymore.

message 2212: by Kimmie (new)

Kimmie (thatkimmiegirl) | 100 comments Yesterday I finished The Merlot Murders by Ellen Crosby . I really enjoyed it although I found Lucie's siblings rather annoying. I know nothing about wine so I found the subject interesting.

message 2213: by Caroline (new)

Caroline | 661 comments Okay. I've finished Dead Deceiver by Victoria Houston , Third Degree (Murder 101, #5) by Maggie Barbieri , and Sealed with a Kill (A Decoupage Mystery, #3) by Lucy Lawrence . Good books and I enjoyed them all.

message 2214: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin C (caitkom) | 199 comments Wow, good job Caroline!

message 2215: by Kristi (new)

Kristi (fiberfool) | 38 comments I just finished Dixie Divas by Virginia Brown Dixie Divas over the weekend.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. The characters were colorful and fun as I've come to expect from a lot of southern fiction. I actually made use of the highlighting function of my Kindle a few times (which I haven't done much of since I got it for Christmas). Mostly I highlighted passages that made me laugh out loud or reminded me of the relationship between myself (like Trinket) and my best friend (like Bitty).

There was no foul language and no explicit sex scenes. Though there were a few mentions of orgasms in passing, not in detail.

I did have a few complaints which I address in my review.

message 2216: by Kimmie (new)

Kimmie (thatkimmiegirl) | 100 comments After a month I finally finished Fatal Fixer-Upper (A Do-It-Yourself Mystery, #1) by Jennie Bentley . I really enjoyed it and I figured out the killer early on. The main character Avery is smart and sassy which are two traits I love. I just kept getting distracted with other good reads.

Kimmie, I love this series and am just about to start book four myself, Mortar and Murder, and looking forward to it.

Vivian Williams (a_moonlit_rose) | 12 comments I just finished A Killer Plot (A Books by the Bay Mystery, #1) by JB Stanley/Ellery Adams Killer Plot by Ellery Adams. I found this very interesting... and enjoyed the charaters!

Now starting Fruit of all Evil . I WON this copy from a giveaway! Fruit of All Evil (A Farmers' Market Mystery, #2) by Paige Shelton

This is not my favorite series, but I still read it out of habit. I just got it from the library a few days ago so it's disappointing to know it's especially annoying.

message 2220: by Susie (new)

Susie Fevella (susieinks) | 821 comments I was able to finish two today: Buzz Off by Hannah Reed and Antiques Knock-Off (A Trash 'n' Treasures Mystery, #5) by Barbara Allan . They were both pretty good ;)

message 2221: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (dolphinlover) | 290 comments the last cozy I read was The Diva Cooks The Goose it was very very good.

Susie -

Seems we must share similar interests in cozies! I just read Buzz off a couple months ago. I too thought it was pretty good. Especially for a series debut. I haven't tried the Trash 'n Mysteries series yet though.

Kristi ~ The Trash 'n Treasure mysteries have some fun characters, but the writing style may get on your nerves a little. I've learned to just ignore it ;)

BUZZ OFF got on my last nerve, but I'm glad you liked it. Makes things interesting!

Kristi and Susie: I'm glad there are others who liked Buzz Off. It felt like I was in the minority here for the longest time in liking this one. I look forward to book two.

I could see that. All the bullet point lists kind of drove me batty and I'm hoping that is curtailed a bit in any following books. It just disrupted the flow too much.

message 2230: by Liz (last edited Mar 17, 2011 12:42PM) (new)

Liz | 42 comments I just finished . Woman Strangled - News at Ten by Laurie Moore "Woman Strangled-News at Ten" by Laurie Moore. I realize the title doesn't sound too cozy, but it seems to fit. The Publishers Weekly blurb on the cover says "The marvelous first in a new romantic suspense series sparkles with Janet Evanovich-style humor". That might be a bit of an exaggeration, but there was some very funny stuff in it. I'm definitely going to be looking for the next one in the series

message 2231: by Ariel (new)

Ariel (sevenmoonlight) | 138 comments I just finished Arsenic and Old Paint (An Art Lover's Mystery, #4) by Hailey Lind Arsenic and Old Paint. It was a long wait for this 4th book to come out, but well worth it. I really enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed this book too. I liked the main character. It will be fun to follow this series as it progresses.

message 2233: by Zoe (new)

Zoe (bookwormfromathens) | 712 comments I just finished Murder at the PTA (Beth Kennedy Mystery, #1) by Laura Alden but I didn't enjoy it-a mediocre read.

message 2234: by Kristi (new)

Kristi (fiberfool) | 38 comments I finished A Slice of Murder (Pizza Lovers, #1) by Chris Cavender A Slice of Murder last night. It was okay, but I found the characters pretty flat and thus wasn't pulled into the story much. After a break I will likely give the next book a try. I usually try to give a series 2-3 books to hook me.

Now I'm torn between starting Antiques Roadkill, Murder A' La Mode or purchasing Hot Tea...

I figured if an author can make me dislike a character so much (the Mom) then she must be doing something right ;) I've pre-ordered the next one for my Kindle.

message 2236: by Mary (new)

Mary Last night I finished Holiday Grind. I did not realize I was so close to the end as the last 1/5 of the book is recipes for lattes, syrups and holiday treats. It was good and hard to put down - a good thing it did end there or I might have been up most of the night reading.
I am going to start on The Ghost and Mrs McClure tonight :-)

message 2237: by Caroline (new)

Caroline | 661 comments I just read through the three (currently released) Blackpool mysteries Stolen by Jordan Gray Vanished by Jordan Gray and Submerged by Jordan Gray . Looking forward to May when the fourth book comes out. Easy reads but enjoyable and it's kind of fun that they're sort of related to the computer games Mystery Case Files. :)

Randisi and Presence Of Mind (Wwl Mystery , No 282) by Fred Hunter by Fred Hunterwhich both seem to be kinda borderline cozy. But I'm now reading Holiday Grind (Coffeehouse Mystery, #8) by Cleo Coyle by Cleo Coyle. I really enjoy her series. If you like coffee house cozies, you might also try Sandra Balzothe first one in her series is Uncommon Grounds (Maggy Thorsen Mystery #1) by Sandra Balzo

message 2244: by Shay (new)

Shay | 408 comments I just finished Scones & Bones by Laura Childs. It was really badly structured and paced. She barely investigates through the first half of the book- just rambles about clothes, tea, dishes, etc. Not even in a charming way, in a really boring way. Feels like the author is going through the motions.
