Just finished
and liked it a lot. A little bit of foreshadowing at the very end which leads me to think the next one, Town in a Wild Moose Chase will be just as exciting. Contest for this one starts Monday. I'll put the deets on the giveaway page. Happy Sunday and happy reading!
I finished
last night. I enjoyed the characters in this book (Charlie, the teenager, is totally believable) and will look forward to reading more in this series.
I just finished reading
and absolutely loved it. I'm not one to overthink a book and this one had twists and turns when I didn't expect them. This is a great series and I look forward to reading the next book as soon as it comes out!
I just finished Sister Pelagia and the White Bulldog. Not what I expected, but basically a good read. Not sure I'll read more in the series, though.
Susan wrote: "I finished

Finished Baltimore Blues (Tess Monaghan Mysteries by Laura Lippman last night. I liked it, but had mixed feelings about the main character, Tess Monaghan.
In some ways I could relate to her (ie: losing a job you loved and struggling to find where you fit in while not feeling good at anything), but there were other aspects of her character that lowered my respect for her (ie: Johnathon). All in all I did like the book, at least well enough to read the next in the series, Charm City, which I have already started.

I just finished If Walls Could Talk. I enjoyed the writing style and the characters. I figured out the murderer early on but this didn't take away from the story. Mel just seems like someone you might know in real life trying to balance family and work. I am looking forward to the next one in this series.

I just finished Slay It With Flowers by Kate Collins. I liked this book more than the first - but still find the constant admonition from all the other characters to "stop meddling" really annoying. Makes me feel like I'm cheering on the local busybody (who is usually the victim of cozies, not the protagonist). Still, I did enjoy this one more and I'm ready to start the third after a short break.
Hi all, my contest for
posted this morning at Pudgy Penguin Perusals. Deadline to enter is Feb 17th at 5 PM (est)Open to US only You can enter there or e mail me at florida982002[at] yahoo.com Just put enter Town in a Lobster Stew in subject line.
I finished X Dames: A Lucy Ripkin Mystery by J.J. Henderson. It was almost as much a chick-lit book as a mystery but it was a quick read and the sun, sand and surf were good for a winter day.
Just finished up You May Now Kill the Bride by Deborah Donnelly. I'd read the first two in this series when they first came out and somehow never read the rest of them. This was a good read and it was nice to catch up with the characters again after such a long stretch. I guessed the killer midway through, but I still enjoyed the read.
I've just finished
, which was simply exquisite! I love Leann's writing and will read all the other books in the series, as well as
, the second installment in her "Cats in Trouble" mystery series. I really enjoyed
, which I read last year. Thank you Leann! Keep up the good work!

Melodie, I was given The Quick and the Thread in a bookswap. I glad to hear that you like the series.
Dru and Melodie - GMTA! I finished
and really liked it! I also finished
and
and enjoyed both of them. (And can't remember if I posted or not but I also read/finished
and really loved it as well as
! I've actually been reading about a book a day! Good thing I've still got a couple more to read! : )

Just finished
. It was a good read. I loved
and this has Daphne du Maurier as the main character, which I found enjoyable.
Melissa wrote: "Just finished
by Anne George and loved it! It was laugh-out-loud funny! Can't wait to read more in this series!"Melissa, I read all the Anne George books and enjoyed all of them. I live in the area so that made them extra fun. I thought she did a really good job of capturing the local atmosphere and culture.

alicia wrote: "I finished
and I loved it. One of my new favorite cozies. Going to start #2."Glad you liked Lucy's adventures! I finally read the first 2 in this series late last year and was hooked. Now reading
!
Aha! You and I are actually reading the same book at the same time, Melodie! Hahaha. I love the Lucy Valentine series. Heather does good work.
Just finished Glazed Murder by Jessica Beck. Meh. I'm not sure I'd read any more in this series - the writing felt very stiff and earnest, even though I could see that she was trying to write characters that weren't. The only time the writing felt natural to me was in the dialog between her and her mother - I really liked seeing the mother/daughter relationship portrayed with mutual affection and equal sniping. :) Her reasons for 'investigating' felt forced though and in the end it was a book I had to labor through. Anyone else here read this series? Does it get better with subsequent books? (The recipes look good, btw.)
Jennifer wrote: "Just finished Glazed Murder by Jessica Beck. Meh. I'm not sure I'd read any more in this series - the writing felt very stiff and earnest, even though I could see ..."Felt the same way about this one. I gave it 2 stars when I read it, primarily for the great sounding recipes! I read the 2nd one. It was very marginally better, but haven't read the 3rd one and probably won't unless I can get it on PBS.
Glad I'm not alone on this one. Shall put the book aside for the recipes and put the series in the back of my mind. :)
Finished reading Charm City last night. I have book three, Butcher's Hill, on the TBR pile, but am taking a break from Lippman for a couple more in vogue with Valentine's Day by Kate Collins. Okay, so there will still be murder and mayhem, but there's also flowers. *g*
I just finished Curiosity Thrilled the Cat. It was very enjoyable-pleasant characters and a well-thought out mystery.
Jennifer wrote: "Just finished Glazed Murder by Jessica Beck. Meh. I'm not sure I'd read any more in this series - the writing felt very stiff and earnest, even though I could see ..."I couldn't even finish this one, so you did better than I did ;)
Heather L wrote: "Finished reading Charm City last night. I'm listening to Butcher's Hill right now and it's moving rather slowly...
Susie in KS wrote: "Heather L wrote: "Finished reading Charm City last night. I really want to like them, but I just don't. She's a really nice, funny lady and is always great at B'cons.
Am new to the group. Just joined today. Currently finishing Murder on the Blackboard by Stewart Palmer. Great series. Also loved the Southern Sisters series.
Jennifer wrote: "I just finished on Audio The Perfect Poison by Amanda Quick. I found this at my local library to listen to on my icky, yucky, very bad commute I make two days a week...."
What? My God, I haven't looked at it in that way (BTW, Amanda Quick is usually like that), so perhaps I'll reread it (no effort at all :-) ), and I'll choose it for clue (I've some problems with certain rooms).

I just finished
Polished Off by Lila Dare. I liked it - a good mystery with lots of possible suspects and a few twists at the end. There is a romantic triangle developing and I'm rooting for the guy she did not walk off with at the end of this book. Leaves you wondering what happens next.
I just finished
and I thought it was pure genius. It's a fast-paced thriller with a few cozy elements, a true emotional journey in Dixie's world. It realy had me going through an entire gamut of emotions and reactions ( and for me, this is what characterizes good fiction ).However, I'll take a break from the series for now and read something much lighter and then I'll be back to read
.
Just finished A Killer Crop by Sheila Connolly. I have to say this series gets better with each book and I enjoyed this one more so than previous instalments. It was a bit slow-going through the first half of the book - lots of repetitive conversation between mother and daughter, but it picked up nicely the second half with an interesting story line about Emily Dickinson. I'll most likely check out the next book in the series.
Finished
and I loved the ending! Now 3/4th through
. This is the first in a new series and so far, I'm really enjoying it!
Just finished Curiosity Thrilled the Cat
. Enjoyed it very much -- and I really liked the twists at the end.
I liked that one too, Laura! I'm looking forward to more in the series and possibly more explanation about the cats. : )
Oh and I finished
tonight. It was quite intense in parts but had humor and was a good read for me. Looking forward to more from Alice Loweecey and think this was a good first book.
I finished
on audio book yesterday. Agatha always brightens my day. In this one she caught her microwave on fire, gave me a good laugh.I also finished
. I am not sure it was a cozy but it was a good mystery and I plan to read more by Barbara Michaels.-Kimmie
Kimmie wrote: "I finished

I loved all of the Barbara Michaels books, with the exception of Other Worlds, her last one. She writes as Elizabeth Peters as well, in case you didn't know and her stand alones are really good there as well. Enjoy reading her books!
