Just finished
and really liked it a lot. Julie sure knows how to keep a reader's attention!

I just finished Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder. It started out ok, but then got very dull. Would not recommend it.

I finished the last book in Nancy Martin's Blackbird Sisters book. I hear she's going to continue with the series which is good because I have some unanswered questions I'd like answered.
Kimberly wrote: "I finished the last book in Nancy Martin's Blackbird Sisters book. I hear she's going to continue with the series which is good because I have some unanswered questions I'd like answered."I always liked this series and was hoping there might be at least another one.
I finished both
and
. I think Truly, Madly was more my speed but will read the next in both series. I agree with Heidi that CCCM gets a bit boring - my fondness towards cozies is that they are entertaining and I think it kept going and going.

I sure hope there are more. I just went to her website and the next book out is in April but it is a Roxy Abruzzo one. I didn't really care for that character at all. I sent her an e mail asking if there will be more of the Blackbird sisters.
Jaimie wrote: "I finished both

I didn't read the short story that followed but I was grateful it wasn't as long as I thought it was.
Kaye, the blackbird sisters are one of my favorite series. Please let us know if you hear back from Nancy Martin and what she says about more in the series?
Jennifer-in-oz wrote: "Kaye, the blackbird sisters are one of my favorite series. Unfortunately, I can't say I cared for the character much. A little too coarse for my taste.
I finished
Tressed to Kill this week. I picked it up at a used book store while visiting family and read it on the plane trip back - which included several delays and sitting on the tarmac for longer than the actual flight. Then I left it in the limo four chapters from the end!! I ended up buying the book new at B&N just to finish it. It's a good mystery with several unexpected twists. I liked the author's descriptions of small town Georgia, but I could have done without the revisionist history - The antebellum ball with Southern belles and Confederate officers where the main character and her friends dressed as maids to the plantation owner. Duh-uh. They had slaves. Pretending slavery did not exist when the economy, lifestyle and society were built on it was ridiculous.
I finished Mrs. Jeffries and the Yuletide Weddings
last night. I hadn't read any in this series before and it doesn't seem like they have to be read in order. I enjoyed the plot and the writing, so I'll probably pick up another in this series at some point.
I just finished
and it was amazing! This is one of my favorite cozy mystery series and I love Wendy's writing style : it's fresh and funny and she always manages to come up with an interesting plot that keeps me guessing until the end. I will absolutely read the next book in the series, it's called "A Parfait Murder" and it will be in the bookstores in June 2011.

I know I would have found it disturbing. I really liked this book just as it was.

Just finished Doc in the Box and enjoyed it a lot in spite of the darker subject matter. I wish that Viets was doing more in this series. Lately it seems to be Dead End Jobs and her personal shopper series.
Recently finished Murder, She Wrote: Coffee, Tea, or Murder? by "Jessica Fletcher" and Donald Bain. I loved the television show as a kid and I plan to read more in this series.
Jaimie wrote: "I finished both

I agree that the story wasn't all that special and I usually donate all the books I've read, but I really want to try some of the recipes. I've searched, but I haven't found these online. Joanne Fluke's website only has a featured recipe, so I might hold onto this book a little bit longer... I've read a couple of her books and all of the recipes sound so dangerously delicious.

But there's a ton of space between those two extremes. We can agree to disagree about how she presented that scene or whether it was even necessary to move the mystery forward. Moving past that it was an entertaining mystery and though I had the murderer among my suspects, the ending was unexpected.
I just finished A Nose for Justice: A Novel yesterday by Rita Mae Brown. She's written a number of Sneaky Pie Brown novels in which mysteries are solved by a cat and dog, but this latest book is a new series in which Baxter, a dachshund mix, and King,a shepherd mix, solve mysteries with their humans in and around Reno, Nevada. The novel was OK, but I found too much emphasis on "geography" became boring. I know much of the mystery revolved around water rights, but enough is enough. It was a good enough quick read, just a little boring in sections. I'll probably pick up the next one just to see how she rounds out the characters.
Just finished Dead Man's Bones. I'm trying really hard to catch up with this series. But, after reading three in a row, I think I'll take a break ;)
Angela wrote: "I just finished the second Alice Kimberly Haunted BOokshop mystery. I am really enjoying these. The language and humor are great!"love this series!
I've just finished Hooked Up: A Stock Car Racing Mystery and, although I've liked their other series, I have not been hooked on this. I don't know, I didn't like the characters.
Yes, Catherine. Several of us have note liked
as well as some of her other books. I found it pedantic (and way too preachy from a political standpoint). But I loved the Stock Car Racing mysteries and was sorry there weren't going to be more of them. I just finished
and it ends up being about a "hot topic." Not too preachy but relevant to today's news. Pretty good.
The first four books of 2011 were of course all cozies. Here are the titles. I also posted reviews of two of them on my Goodreads page. The Missing Ink – Karen E. Olson
Pretty in Ink – Karen E. Olson
A Killer Crop – Sheila Connolly
A Deadly Row – Casey Mayes
I'm currently reading the first two books in Leann Sweeney's Cat and Quilt series. It's my pleasure to be friends with her through a few venues and I love her writing.

It's also fun to give them to someone and after they eat it, tell them you got the recipe from a murder mystery.
Just finished Naked Once More by Elizabeth Peters. I've read a few of the Amelia Peabody mysteries that are so popular and I have to say I much prefer the Jacqueline Kirby series. This one was fun, with an interesting plot and although it is an older book there were very few, if any, dated details that would make the book, or the story feel old. This book also ticked met the reqs for more than a couple of challenges. ;)
I whipped through Axel of Evil by Alina Adams this afternoon (while the Northern Hemisphere slept *grin*) for part of my January Theme Read. It was a very easy but very enjoyable read - I liked it so much more than I expected I would! I've always been fascinated with all things Russian, so I enjoyed the setting and the writing was very snappy.
Shades of Earl Gray by Laura Childs. I really enjoyed the Scrapbooking mysteries series so thought I would try the Tea Shop Mysteries. I love a good cozy mystery!
Hi all, I just posted the link for the giveaway of Buffalo West Wing Buffalo West Wing at my blog in the giveaway folder.
Okay. Just finished Buttercream Bumpoff and have to go back and finish Buffalo West Wing (which I know you already finished). There must be SOMETHING that I've read already that you haven't beaten me to the punch. LOL
I finished Lemon Tart last night and thought it was just so-so. Thanks for sending it to me, Susie! I just didn't like the protagonist in the book. She was too full of herself and did some dumb things that no one could get away with. The story wasn't bad, just didn't like Sadie. Some great recipes, tho!

I feel an overwhelming urge to buy it every time I see the cover and it's always coming up on the "suggested" books on my Amazon and B&N account.

I finished Buttons and Bonesby Monica Ferris this morning. I had the solution to the mystery about three chapters before the end. This entry in the series was OK, and I'll probably keep reading, but I wish the author would keep it more needlework related.
I just finished Pretty Poison by Joyce Lavene. It was a good book but I didn't take to it. Won't read another one in the series.
Just finished
and
. Really enjoyed both of them. To Have and To Kill is the first in a new series and I'll definitely look for more. Buffalo West Wing is 4th in the series and I like the way it's progressing.
Jennifer-in-oz wrote: "Kaye, the blackbird sisters are one of my favorite series. Long wait but, YAY, there is another one coming.

Kaye - that is fabulous news! I've really missed that series. It's going to be a long year, lol. Thanks for letting me know. :)
