comes out 12/7! Looking forward to it, too!

Dru - How cool! I'll be sure to keep that on my list! (And I can say - hey, I know her! LOL)
I just finished
and it was good. Pretty "tight" story - some conflicts, not too much, some good-sounding recipes (although my idea of cooking at this point in life is to stick a Stouffer's into the microwave) and characters that can definitely be developed in the next books of the series. I'm actually looking forward to the next one (although, when they put "coming soon" and basically give you the first part of the next book at the end of the current book - it has sometimes confused me when a year rolls around and I see a book in the bookstore and read the beginning and then think, "Have I already read this book?").
i just finished :Sketch Me If You Can" by Sharon Pape.It took me awhile to get into this book but it was a good read.

Finished False Impressions by Terri Thayer just after 3 o'clock this morning. Yes, 3am. I had a hard time sleeping last night due to the cold I'm still trying to get over, so when I couldn't breath (and therefore sleep), I read. Good thing I didn't have to work this morning, Because I really felt like crud.
Susie in KS wrote: "Heather L wrote: "Finished The Ghost and Mrs. McClure this evening. Loved it and wish I had book two so I could continue on with the series, but no - I only have books three and five...."Just added this series to my TBR and my next Barnes and Noble shopping list! Thanks for the recommendation!

and I loved it! The Flower Shop mysteries are some of my favorites. Good work, Kate!"I've got this one coming up soon. I always enjoy this series!
I just finished Hotel South Dakota by Kathleen Taylor. This was a well written book with a very good story. I grew up in a small town, but not as small as Delphi. I could relate to much of the story.
Just finished Old World Murder by Kathleen Ernst. This was a good book in spite of the fact that the main character is battling some very weighty issues with depression. I don't normally like my cozy mysteries to be "heavy", but the protag showed enough spunk to keep me reading what was a good, if a bit convoluted, story. I'll read the next one, but if the mood doesn't show signs of lightening up, I might abandon the series after the second one. But I would recommend this book.

WHEW! I can't wait to get to the latest one, but I am going through the series in order, like a good girl. :)
Just finished "Murder Past Due" by Miranda James.Peally enjoyed it! A great story and I loved the end.
Just finished Grace Under Pressure
. Not really sure I would read the next one, I found Grace a little...conceited. The way she handled the murder was kind of insensitive. I got the feeling she was more concerned with her job than the death. And when it came to her sister, it was more of an after thought than anything else. Why bother throwing her in there if it wasn't going to be developed into anything. Although, I guess knowing it's going to be a series, there is still time for that to come into play. Summary: this fell a little flat for me. 3 stars.
Began Trick or Treat Murder by Leslie Meier last night, enjoying this one much more!
I just finished The Ghost and Mrs. McClure by Alice Kimberly. I don't usually read paranormal or ghost books, but this one was pretty good. I thought the two main voices were a nice play on each other. The mystery was pretty tight with good clues and interesting characters. I might look for another book in this series.
Just finished Delicious and Suspicious and enjoyed it.Didn't love it but liked it. I'll probably read another by Riley Adams.
Kaye wrote: "Just finished Delicious and Suspicious and enjoyed it.Didn't love it but liked it. I'll probably read another by Riley Adams."Kaye, that's kind of how I felt about that book. I decided I will give the next one a try just to see if I like it any better.
Just finished Pinned for Murderby Elizabeth Lynn Casey. I know a few people really liked this one, but I actually thought the first two were better.
The Case of the Queently Contestant: This is another interesting case to be solved by Perry Mason. In this one, a beautiful woman with a queenly and stately air consults him to help keep her whereabouts hidden. The woman refuses to give Perry much information but Perry helps her. In the meantime, he discovers that she was once in love with a man whose father owned the largest company in her city. She became pregnant and the son is sent abroad in hopes that the romance with be thwarted. It is and she disappears, taking another name and never returning to her hometown or keeping in touch with her parents. Of course, there is a murder of which the young woman is subsequently accused of committing. It's up to Perry to discover the truth. Did she commit the murder? Did her son commit the murder? If neither did, who is responsible? Fun, quick read!
I've just finished
for the October challenge and I've liked it a lot. Now I've got to get the first books LOL

this am. To me this wasn't really a cozy...at least not like the ones I normally read. This was kind of a police procedural. I did enjoy it for the most part..especially the setting as I actually work in Hickory, NC where the main character's uncle lived. The math part I skipped over...I'm no dummy but all those numbers made me feel like one! I liked it enough to read the next in the series before I make up my mind completely.
I finished
yesterday--it was a cold rainy day so read the whole thing in one day. Wasn't as hard to read as I expected--probably because it wasn't graphic and allowed the reader to imagine as much of the action as they wanted. I'm only sorry, that though the molestation of young girls and women--as well as boys--seems to be quite prevalent in our society today, the resolution of the coach's guilt ect was too pat. Everyone dies and his wife is the one who will go through the agony of trial etc. Not, in general, the way it happens and much too easy on the coach and in some ways much easier on the victim and her family than is usually the case as well.
last night i finished Death Loves a Messy Desk
It was a fun read. I like her organizing hints, wish there were more.
Finished The Trouble With Magic by Madelyn Alt over the weekend and started (and am 90% through) the next book in the series, A Charmed Death. Really enjoying this series!
Just finished
in the Ministry is Murder series. I like Emilie Richards' books and Aggie Sloan-Wilcox is refreshing as the minister's wife who figures out murderers in their small town in OH. Definitely a good read.
Susan wrote: "I finished "Restored to Death" by Nancy Bell. I enjoyed the story and can't wait to read the next."I liked her "Biggie" series better than this series.
Susan wrote: "Shay, I really enjoyed reading the "Biggie" books also."Oh good to know! I actually just found this series on my libraries audiobook website and added the first one yesterday!

I was so sad when the series ended. I don't listen to audio books, but I think this one would be hilarious. Especially if the reader (?) manages to capture the personalities of the characters, most of whom are larger than life in a Southern way. One of my favorite humorous mystery series of all times.

I enjoy the Sara Rosett Ellie Avery series even though I don't have kids and I can take or leave that part of the books. I do like the military family setting though, after working 36 years for DoD. And Ellie runs an organizing business on the side so there are cool organizing tips throughout the book.
Finished up Trick of Treat Murder by Leslie Meier and am beginning Hallowed Bones to continue my Halloween Mystery binge!
I just finished The Unkindest Cut: A Bridge Club Mystery
. It was just okay. I am not interested in bridge and none of the characters grabbed me. I don't think I will be reading any more in this series.I'm going to start The Tale of Holly How tonight because I really enjoyed the first book in the series

I just finished Dead on Arrival by Jackie Griffey. I don't normally like to say bad things about a book, but I think this is the worst book I have read this year. There are way too many storylines to try and follow, none of which ties to the others at all. Things just seem to be thrown in for no good reason. One case in point is the garden club idea that comes up about page 130. Up to that point, no one in the book had mentioned any interest in gardening or having a nice garden. The characters are very undeveloped and a bit shallow. The main character is a brand new widow who does not appear to grieve a husband she said she loved, and then gets remarried as soon as possible to someone she just meets. I don't even think I would give this book one star. I am sorry if I offended the author, but this book was the last one of her's I will be reading.
I just finished "Death of a Witch" by M.C. Beaton. It has been a few years since I read anything by this author and it felt like I have never stoped reading them. It was a nice read.
Finished
and
. Really enjoyed the China Bayles story, and the Lucy Stone story wasn't as bad as it started out! I can now say I've read ALL the China Bayles books!
Finished Hex Marks the Spot by Madelyn Alt before bed last night. Not as good as the previous book in the series, but an okay read. I have the next two books in the series, but am taking a break from this author for a bit to catch up on other books.
