Jenny from Ukraine | 29 comments I just finished The Diva Frosts a Cupcake and Nickeled-and-Dimed to Death: A Devereaux's Dime Store Mystery
Both very good but I liked the first one better.

I finished reading The Nail Knot (Fly Fishing Mysteries) by John Galligan this evening. I admit, I had some difficulty getting into the voice of the narrator at first, but ended up liking the book more than I thought I would. If anyone is looking for a "fishing" book for this month's challenge, and you like outdoorsy-type mysteries, you might want to give this one a shot.

Mary (Biblophile) | 4610 comments Just finished How to Host a Killer Party (Party Planning, #1) by Penny Warner . Reading them out of order. This one was not as entertaining as the other two I read. It's the first, so glad I read it later.

Anne Pichette | 65 comments I just finished Bootlegger's Daughter by Margaret Maron and really enjoyed it.

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments Finished The Diva Frosts a Cupcake (A Domestic Diva Mystery, #7) by Krista Davis . Not my favorite in the series, but still a good read. Took me longer than any other in the series to finish.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Finished Mama Does Time. Enjoyed it enough to read the rest of them. :)

I need to finish that one. I started it and had too many other Kindle books to read so put it aside. I liked the beginning.

I've just finished Mayhem at the Orient Express. I've liked it, and I've found some part quite entertaining but others have had too much bantering. I'll get the next one, however, to see how it evolves.

Yay! Glad you liked it enough to read the next one. :)

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Finished Smarty Bones: A Sarah Booth Delaney Mystery last night. Probably the most convoluted, all-over-the-place book of the series, but I enjoyed it.

Zoe (bookwormfromathens) | 712 comments I finished A Sinister Sense (A Raven's Nest Mystery, #2) by Allison Kingsley -it was so-so. At least it was a fairly easy read, the language being so simple for a reader whose mother tongue isn't English.
However, I noticed a few serious grammar errors, ie "...as much of the letters as she could remember" and "have you noticed there's less people here than usual?"
Poor editing can be pretty annoying for me.

Mary (Biblophile) | 4610 comments Last night I finished Dead Renegade (A Loon Lake Mystery, #10) by Victoria Houston and Quilt or Innocence A Southern Quilting Mystery by Elizabeth Spann Craig . Liked them both, although I believe Quilt or Innocence needs a little more depth, but it's only first in the series, so hopefully there will be more to others in the series.

I want to get to that one but it is a "new book" for some reason at my library so harder to get and you only get it for a week so I may wait a month or so when it is not so new :)

If your library works the same way ours does, *every book that's a new addition to the catalog gets tagged as 'new,' no matter when it was published. It's frustrating, and I haven't been able to find anyone who knows *why it's done that way. I suspect it's one of those "That's the way we've always done it!" things *sigh*

Heidi (Seriously. Trust me.) wrote: "Is anyone experiencing some weird thing with this thread where it says a bunch of comments are new that aren't???"

It means it's time to archive this thread and start a new one. We encountered this problem quite a bit in April/May in another group (and a lot of threads there at once). According to the GR staff, popular discussions such as this one should be locked and restarted every few thousand posts. And it's not just the volume of posts, but when there are a lot of images posted (such as cover thumbnails), that takes up a lot of bandwidth, too.

I already checked out two other cozies that were released on the same date and they were not placed in the "new" book rotation so they must think the series is more popular than say the Diva series I guess. Normally only regular fiction and some top selling cozies are in the new area (like Stephanie Plum books) so i guess Kate's series is moving up in the world. No biggie. I have tons of other books to read!

Hi Heidi!

When this problem came up in TNBBC and we had no reply from the moderator, the issue was then taken to the feedback group (this topic), and that was what we were told. After a friend from TNBBC posed the question and was answered, I then asked if this was something moderators were ever told, if anything was ever sent to moderators, but never received a reply back. Which I guess is a reply on its own. : (

The person who replied back to BookConcierge actually said, "Our topics are built to handle up to 500 posts, or about 10 pages." I think renewing a popular topic every 500 posts might get a bit crazy, but I can see doing so every 1000 to 2000 posts, depending how busy the thread is. When I moderated for a publisher's message boards many moons ago, we archived and refreshed popular topics every 500 to 1000 posts, or the start of every month, whichever came first.

No, nothing like this is ever sent to moderators. In fact, *nothing is sent to moderators, ever, at least not in my experience. If a mod has a question about something, it's up to him/her to ask, then be sure to check back for an answer -- and hope the question has been answered in a helpful way!

I just sent her a message. Also, I spoke too soon (or have been oblivious today), because it is still showing ~10 messages as new that I have read already...

Leslie: Know what's funny? The first time I clicked on "new" today, it sent me to the previous page. Just now, when I clicked to see who had posted after me? It actually sent me to the correct page. However, it does show everything from yesterday as still being new. Go figure! Don't you love technology some days? *g*

Closing this thread (archiving) and created a new one you can continue in, because basically this one appears to be so full it's causing problems with loading issues.
