❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Finished reading Topped Chef last night. This book was the 'make it or break it' for this series. It was better than the first two - a LOT better - but still not great enough that I'm certain I'll continue with the series. I'll think about it a bit before bagging them up for FOL...

Lynn (lynnali) | 524 comments Stayed up late last night and finished Recipe for Treason: A Lady Arianna Regency Mystery. I would definitely not recommend the series to anyone and will not continue with it should the author write any more.

Also The Bastard's Tale (Sister Frevisse, #12) by Margaret Frazer by Margaret Frazer which is more historical mystery than cozy.

Enjoyed them all.

I'm sorry to hear you didn't like the series - I wouldn't put it in my top 10, but I do enjoy reading the books and look forward to the next one (if there is one).

I liked the ice cream series (very summery) but there were only 3 books Scoop to Kill Scoop to Kill (A Mystery a La Mode, #2) by Wendy Lyn Watson :(

message 6168: by Zoe (new)

Zoe (bookwormfromathens) | 712 comments I finished The Cat, the Wife and the Weapon (A Cats in Trouble Mystery, #4) by Leann Sweeney , a very good addition to the Cats In Trouble series and, although a few things in the plot seemed exaggerated, I really liked the way the main characters' bond evolves and becomes stronger with every book. I already have The Cat, the Mill and the Murder (A Cats in Trouble Mystery, #5) by Leann Sweeney waiting, but I'll take a break from this series for now and get back to it later.

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments Finished Trouble in the Tarot by Kari Lee Townsend . I think I need to quit this series. I just really don't like the main character and her "Granny" got on my last nerve in this one. The only really good character is Morty, the cat!

I also got this as a freebie some time ago. I loved this book and can't wait to read the next one. It was actually longer than I thought it would be, about 460 pages. Great reading for it being free.

message 6181: by Zoe (new)

Zoe (bookwormfromathens) | 712 comments I finished Let's Play Dead (A Museum Mystery #2) by Sheila Connolly and I really liked it. It seems the mystery wasn't much of a mystery after all but it was still interesting to follow Nell in her effort to help Arabella with saving the reputation of her children's museum, Let's Play. The museum setting was a plus and the new additions, Eric and Shelby are both likable characters. I'll certainly continue with this series.

Not that bad! No constant endearments, not even the dreaded "darling" every other paragraph! I never once felt like throwing the book across the room! :-)

Funny enough, I just finished the second book in the series, Steamed to Death and it was just a 2.5 star read for me (rated it 3 in the review). Don't know that I'll continue with this series. Too flat.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) I just finished Mayhem at the Orient Express and I thought it was outstanding - 5 stars.

Melodie, I didn't really care for the Pioneer Woman book. It was a little too corny for me. It seemed like all she talked about was how good he looks in his Wranglers.

The TV adaptation left a lot to be desired. I do like Jack better on the tv version though. :)
