Finished reading The Azalea Assault by Alyse Carlson last night before bed. It was okay, at least good enough I might be tempted to read book two. NOT that I need to get hooked on another series. There are too many I'm trying to catch up on now.

message 6105: by Leslie (new)

Leslie Not sure that people will consider it a cozy, more a police procedural, but little to no violence, sex, or bad language so I'll put it in... The Draining Lake by Arnaldur Indriðason
The Draining Lake by Arnaldur Indriðason Very good (4 stars)

I could see that. I found most of the characters kind of annoying, and the main character was kind of boring.

I'm a big fan of this series. I just started reading it last year and took a trip to Charleston as a result, which was a blast. I read them all pretty fast, so I stayed into it. I have Sweet Tea Revenge that I want to start reading soon.

message 6122: by Barb (new)

Barb | 1192 comments Finished The "M" Word (Bel Barrett Mysteries, #1) by Jane Isenberg early this morning. I found it a little dated, till I remembered that it was published in 1999, when "cellular phones" were still relatively new and internet searches were much harder and less common :) Once I got past that, I liked the book and will add the next in the series to my list.

message 6123: by Camille (new)

Camille | 11 comments Just finished A Witch in Time. Really enjoyed it. The mystery wasn't as straight forward as you usually get with a cozy, and was a little heavier on the romance than I usually read, not to say it was too much romance, lol, anyway it was still quite a fun read. It's the second one in this series that I've read, kinda wishing I'd read them in order now but oh we'll. :)

I don't remember much about the first one vs. the second/third etc. but personally, I love this series (although could have done without the ending of the third book....)

Sharon Michael | 92 comments Finished Scraps of Paper last week and found it entertaining. Predictable plot line but writing was very readable and characters were interesting. I did feel more of a connection with the supporting male character than the lead female character, who I found a little inconsistent somehow.

Yes Tee, much better. I had no trouble staying in this one. She corrected several issues in this one that bothered me in the first book of the series. No monotonous detail that didn't add to the story, toned down one of the most irritating, disagreeable characters to a more tolerable, believable level, characters had more depth in this one,and she nailed it on having more than just one good suspect (which I think she neglected to do in #1) and the chemistry between two of the characters was so well done that my heart actually pitter-pattered a few times. lol...I hope that she does as well with #3 in the series. Hoping for the best.

I really liked the second in this series. If the rest are like this one, then it may turn out to be one of my fav. series. I really like her writing in Due Or Die. But.....NOW I'm worried about that ending Jennifer. :)

I'm with Jennifer on the end of #3 in that series, but I'm reserving judgment until I see where she goes from that ending. I guess book #4 will be my own personal litmus test.

oooh. As much as I now dread the ending in #3, I know I have to read it to see what the issue's are. I hope they have it in my UBStore this weekend. I wish my library still carried cozies.

DonnaCarol | 316 comments Finished Due Or Die by Jenn McKinlay. I really enjoyed this one. At one point, I had a tear down my cheek and the very next sentence had me L O L. I had a few issues with the book...a few too many typo's, a couple of reactions to situations that I found to be a bit unrealistic and the book had at least three characters that were very very similar to some found in Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series.. So, that said, if you like the Plum series, you should like this one. Witty humor well done, flows nicely...fun, light and cozy.
