DonnaCarol | 316 comments This past week & weekend I finished "A Timely Vision" by Joyce & Jim Lavene.(A Missing Pieces Mystery). I'm not sure how I feel about this series yet. I bought #1 & #3 in the series(they didn't have the second one in the store) and since I believe in giving most series a chance, and I don't like to skip in sequence, I will be reading at least three of these. By that time, I will know if I will continue this series or not. I also finished "A Killer Plot" & "A Deadly Cliché " both by Ellery Adams. (Books by the Bay series) Mixed feelings on this series so far. I have had a hard time warming up to Olivia, but that goes with her character, (so far) in the book so I guess I have to say that Ellery Adams succeeded in creating a character that you had to get to know well before bonding with. My favorite character , so far, in this book is Police Chief Rawlings. I like that he is not a New York model body or California beach body type but his personality drew me to him quickly. I will read another in the series just to see what happens in his life. He is precious. A Killer Plot (A Books by the Bay Mystery #1) by Ellery Adams A Deadly Cliché (A Books by the Bay Mystery #2) by Ellery Adams .....and A Timely Vision by Joyce Lavene

Michele | 38 comments I finished the Ms. America three books (so far) in the series. They are called Ms. America Mysteries by Diane Dempsy and they are sooo good. You can read my reviews, but the plots are excellent and the characters are great and they are so funny and cozy!!! Honestly, they are delightful, all three of them!

Liora (chinquapin) | 67 comments I just finished Last Wool and Testament (A Haunted Yarn Shop Mystery, #1) by Molly MacRae by Molly MacRae. I wish I could say I enjoyed it, or that it was fun, but I cannot. I found it rather tedious and struggled to finish it.

message 6058: by Lynn (new)

Lynn (lynnali) | 524 comments I finished The Cat Next Door by Marian Babson last night. I don't see her books mentioned too often here, and that's a shame.

Valerie (vallaing) | 26 comments Just reading Death of an Old Git (The Falconer Files - File 1) by Andrea Frazer I'm almost at the end and have still don't know who done it.

Look forward to reading the next one in the series. The characters and the village are great.

Mary (Biblophile) | 4610 comments Just finished A Function of Murder (Sophie Knowles, #3) by Ada Madison . It was okay. I thought the others in the series were better.

Christina Twanged by Carol Higgins Clark. I have loved all the books in this series so far. I really enjoy some of the characters very much.

Zoe (bookwormfromathens) | 712 comments I finished Red Velvet Revenge (Cupcake Bakery Mystery, #4) by Jenn McKinlay , a highly enjoyable read.

message 6066: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 324 comments I just finished Iced Chiffon by Duffy Brown and enjoyed it. I really liked the Southern setting. I will say I figured out who did it about mid-way through and I don't usually figure them out. In this case it was just a couple of things that were said about the murderer stuck out to me and I kept thinking it was that person.

Beth | 616 comments I recently finished fellow Colorado mystery author Margaret Coel's The Silent Spirit The Silent Spirit (Wind River Reservation, #14) by Margaret Coel and loved it, as I have all of her books that I've read.

message 6071: by MaryJo (new)

MaryJo Dawson | 857 comments Today I finished Miss Pym Disposes by Josephine Tey by Josephine Tey.
Someone told me I would enjoy it, but not as much as Brat Farrar and they were right. The author's development of her main character, Lucy, was Great, though, so often very amusing. this is a book for lovers of the older type cozy, British scenario. Tey's books tend to follow a different pattern sometimes, and in this one the actual body doesn't turn up until almost the end.

I recently finished "A Deadly Cliche". I understand what you said about Oliva, but I feel she is moving towards being a more personable character. I like to read the little bits about the books the book club members are sharing. Nice touch for a book club mystery.

message 6073: by Diane ~Firefly~ (new)

Diane ~Firefly~ | 325 comments I just finished Kneading to Die (A Gourmet Pet Food Mystery, #1) by Liz Mugavero and really enjoyed. I only looked at it because I saw it posted here a bunch of times and everyone seemed to like it - so thanks everyone for the rec!

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Finished Gluten for Punishment a couple of nights ago. I gave this 4 stars in spite of a possible love triangle (gag!) and an annoying "woe is me" vibe - I'm confident that will disappear by the second book. But the love triangle...grrr

Katherine Decker | 195 comments Finished Buried in a Bog (A County Cork Mystery, #1) by Sheila Connolly in one day and absolutely loved it. I can't wait for the next adventure and plan on trying out Connolly's other series.

I've been hesitant on this one because I don't much care for her other series. Maybe I'll take a look at it again.

Zoe (bookwormfromathens) | 712 comments I finished Formula for Murder (A Maternal Instincts Mystery, #3) by Diana Orgain and I liked it but the ending was a little rushed, in my opinion. Unfortunately, there'll be no more books in the Maternal Instincts series, as Diana Orgain will start a new mystery series involving a reality TV show and will also co-write the next book in Laura Childs' scrapbooking series, entitled Gilt Trip Gilt Trip (A Scrapbooking Mystery, #11) by Laura Childs

message 6083: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 324 comments Oh no, I love the Maternal Instincts series. Boo!

message 6084: by Leslie (new)

Leslie I finished one of my Kindle freebies The Ghost Orchid Murder (Jillian Bradley, #2) by Nancy Jill Thames The Ghost Orchid Murder, which I thought was terrible! Poor writing, editing, and preachy Christianity... To be avoided :(

message 6085: by Kristin (new)

Kristin Humphreys | 3 comments I just finished Sprinkle with Murder by Jenn McKinlay. I liked the twists and turns, but I knew who the killer was practically before the body had been discovered. Jenn is a good writer and I'm looking forward to reading the next one in the series.

Lynn (lynnali) | 524 comments Just finished Sweet Revenge. It was a fairly interesting read, but I wish the author had done some more research and understood the historical scandal she picked to use. It really seemed as though she had only a passing knowledge and then tried to base a complicated plot on that bit of wikipedia information. But for the recipes alone it was worth it.

I LOVE the chocolate shortbread recipe she has in there. Yum!

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) I finished Hex on the Ex. It was much better than the last book and I'll be looking for the next one. But the killer was WAY too obvious from about the last third of the book. Oh well. Still 4 stars.

message 6096: by Pat (new)

Pat (crabpatty) | 9 comments Hi! I think this is one of my favorite Groups! I am amazed at how many really good books are available! This morning I just finished " The Strangers on Montagu Street (Tradd Street, #3) by Karen White
I did enjoy it but...come out find out that it is #3 in a series. I do plan to go back and read #1 & 2, but , I can tell you there will be a #4 because it says so and sort of leaves you hanging. Not to the point that I have to go find a copy immediately, but I will eventually! After I find and read # 1 & 2!
I have said this before but isn't it true- So many books, so little time!

I'm almost done with that one, too, Susie. I didn't like the first one, but am glad I gave the series another shot, as I've liked the others!
