Denise - I know who Bela Lugosi is, I am not that young! Kelley - I totally agree with you.

more than the other two. She probably won't jump to the top of my favorites list, but I can see picking the occassional book up as I come across it.
I am loving Jacqueline Winspear's Maise Dobbs series. I am halfway through Birds of a Feather. I think I am going to try to read the whole series!
Kelley wrote: "Denise, I agree with you about Bela Lugosi. I'll watch him and the show Dark Shadows, but otherwise I am not into vampires. I think the whole genre is way overrated and over done."I liked Bela Lugosi....won't say I loved him since he didn't do much for me, but I liked the original Dracula movie when I was a kid. My favorite Dracula is Frank Langella. And I ran home from school every day to watch Dark Shadows and ran to catch the early bus home so I could still watch it once I started high school. Reading Dracula the summer before 4th grade is what started my vampire fixation.
I'm generally not into the vampire books, but do like Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse series, as well as the series by MaryJanice Davidson, which also have mystery elements in them.
I just finished
Death by Chocolate by G.A. McKevettand I am really dissapointed! Loved her book 'Poisoned Tarts' in that book there was mystery, a good plot, great characters, and even a bit of light forensic descriptions..searching for fingerprints etc. Which I enjoyed as I dont read anything heavy on that topic. It was a nice change,So I had hopes that this book would be a similar mix..I was wrong. Long drawn out and not hard to guess 'who done it'.. Ah well on to another author or ill try another later book of hers..

I love Agatha!
I just finished Stamped Out by Terri Thayer. It was an okay read. It was the first in the series, I don't think I will read anymore of this series. I have so many others to read.
I love Agatha Raisin too !! I want to read Agatha and the Haunted house but my library hasnt got it in, Hopefully by halloween! ;)
Susan wrote: "I just finished Stamped Out by Terri Thayer. It was an okay read. It was the first in the series, I don't think I will read anymore of this series. Miki: I enjoyed Murder By the Slice, have read almost all of them just need the last one. I am just so sad that alot of the books I have been reading just are not cutting it to read more. I have about 20 new authors to read so I hope it gets better.
Susan, Susie and Miki - I actually did read the sequel to STAMPED OUT. I thought the first book was okay, the second not so much.
I finished Death of A Tart by Kate Grilley Borden over the weekend. It was the first book in the Cobbs Landing series. It was good, but not great.
I just finished Honeymoon by James Patterson and I loved the book. I gave it 5 stars. It was an easy read and it is intriguing and interesting from the very beginning. I passed it on to a co-worker and she can't put it down either. If you haven't read it, I suggest you give it a try.
Managed to finish Sink Trap before bed last night. Not a bad mystery! Am starting the second book today.

as part of the April Theme Read. :-)"Did you like it Trine? I have it on the pile and was contemplating taking it with me on vacation next month.
I really enjoyed the book, Susie. It included more information on cats than quilting, but it was a very cozy read. Would probably make a great vacation read, too - especially for people who like animals and cats in particular.
Hope you'll have a wonderful vacation, Susie. :-)
Happy Reading! :-)

For everyone that likes books on quilting I highly recommend Jennifer Chiaverini's Elm Creek Quilts series. I have talked about this series before but for all our new members I want to bring it up again. Elm Creek Quilts is not categorized as a mystery series even though some of the books have some mystery aspects (not murders), but the series is just a darn good read. The 16th book of the series called The Aloha Quilt has just been released this month. I have it on reserve at the library and can hardly wait to get hold of it.
Rosemary wrote: "I just finished Our Lady of Immaculate Deception[image error] and I did not like it one bit."Definitely not one of Martin's best. I like her Blackbird sisters a lot though.
I just finished
. Meh! Not too well written, characters never really came to life for me and it was way too easy to figure out "whodunnit". 2** at best.
I just finishe The Cat, The Quilt, and The Corpse by Leann Sweeny. I really enjoyed the book. Loved the story and the people in the book. I can not wait to read the second one of the series.

Sounds like a great series. Thanks for the reminder, Denise. :-)
I favor Joanne Fluke, Cleo Coyle, and Diane Mott Davidson's books--possibly because they all have something to do with cooking (or beverages) and I'm a terrible cook. Can't remember which one I finished most recently.Patricia
Just finished The Spellman Files. I enjoyed it, although I know some of you don't. By the end I kinda wondered if those people were so stupid they couldn't see what a mess they were making. But they were funny doing it.
Denise wrote: "The 16th book of the series called The Aloha Quilt has just been released this month. I have it on reserve at the library and can hardly wait to get hold of it.."I love her books! My husband is from Maui, so I'm looking forward to reading this one ;)
Susan wrote: "I just finishe The Cat, The Quilt, and The Corpse by Leann Sweeny. I really enjoyed the book. Loved the story and the people in the book. I can not wait to read the second one of the series."OK, you guys have talked me into adding this one to my vacation pile!
Fishished Lead-Pipe Cinch this evening, really enjoyed this series. Here's hoping we'll see much more of Georgie!
Erin wrote: "Just finished The Spellman Files. I enjoyed it, although I know some of you don't. I got a little sick of the over board parental following, and liked some parts more than others (mostly when she is with her brother or sister). But it was def. good enough to read book 2 :)
I just finished Through the Grinder. It was a bit darker than the first one--but I liked it alot. One thing I really enjoy about this series is the history of NY she puts in the books. I've started the next in the series Latte Trouble so far so good.
Well, I finished Latte Trouble and started and finshed Murder Most Frothy. Unfortunately I don't have the rest in the series yet. I've got so many books to choose from--but I really just want to keep reading about Claire:)
Finished Rita Mae Brown's Cat of the Century last night. It was okay and I gave it 2 stars. I really loved this series when I first started reading it long ago, but over the years it has become sloppy and boring. I am beginning to think RMB's cat REALLY is writing these books! I'll continue with the series, because I have so many books and years invested in them, especially since I only get them through the library. And I am almost finished with Murder on St. Mark's Place by Victoria Thompson. I really am enjoying this series. I am only on the 2nd one in the series, but I am anticipating I will read all of them.
The last cozy I read was The Ghost and the Femme Fatale by Alice Kimberly. It was just all right...definitely my least favorite in the series so far.
I have just finished Every Crooked Nanny and it was good. I liked everything except the derogatory references to Blacks. I really like the character of Callahan Garrity so I hope the next book is different on that point or I will quit the series.

However, I read a series written by a black man that has mostly black characters (NOT a cozy series) and they call each other that all the time. Why is that okay? Why would you call your friends what you don't want to be called? Makes no sense.

That would only be what 1993?
I just finished Photo, Snap, Shot: A Kiki Lowenstein Scrap-N-Craft Mystery. This ranks up there with my favorite series--although I could do without the cliff-hanger endings:)Started Carbs and Cadavers I've read some good things about this series--and have the next three already so I hope I like it!
