What Cozy Did You Just Finish Reading??? (Archive)

Currently I am reading, 'The Stories of Edgar Allan Poe'. It's a real thriller. From the small collection of stories intertwined into a beautiful piece of art, I have learned so much from a book that is supose to send shivers up your spine.
Heidi (trust me) wrote: "Melissa how was A Killer Read??"I really enjoyed it and can't wait for the next one. The story itself was great, but what I also liked was that each chapter had a line from a different mystery book and several characters had reading lists at the end of the book, so I found some more books I haven't read yet.
Heidi (trust me) wrote: "Lynne wrote: "Just finished A Vision of Murder last night. I'm really enjoying this series."Abby got on my nerves in this book but I like the series too."
I agree, Abby was a little annoying, especially the parts where she's bickering with Dutch, she acts like a petulant child.
byLeslie Meier. I liked that Lucy Stone got to take her sleuthing skills to the Big Apple! I enjoyed the story.
I finished
- one star for me. There wasn't much of a mystery; no clues, no systematic sleuthing, only a description of the hunt for antiques ( interesting, but this is supposed to be a murder mystery ). Moreover, we are informed that the heroine got herself in the middle of another murder mystery in the past and was awarded with a bullet in her thigh, but there's not much elaboration on the issue. What really surprised me was that Lucy was completely computer illiterate and didn't know how to use a cell phone. Really? Plus, in the end, she confronts the killer in the most stupid way: she faces him weaponless and simply starts screaming her head off but she manages to escape without being killed. No comment...
Just finished reading
A Fatal Waltz. Not as good as the second book in this series, but still enjoyable.

I wonder if you reviewed the book or just rated it with a one star? It sounds like you had some good comments (that the author may be able to use for future books) and there's nothing more frustrating as an author than to get a one star without comment.

Finished
, and see what you were talking about, Heidi & Jennifer. I really like this series and the characters , so am willing to give the author a pass on all but one thing (view spoiler)
Melodie wrote: "Finished

I finished
last night. This wasn't my favourite mystery. I've heard good things about this series, so I'll read the next one. Hopefully I like it better.
Biblophile wrote: "Just finished

I just finished

, which I've had on my TBR list for what seems like forever!["br"]>["br"]>

She lost her publisher, meaning they didn't think she sold well enough. Sucks!

Agreed! I loved that series!

I love this series and couldn't wait for the new one to come out! I found it less comical than the last few, but also so uncharacteristic of Mattie! I hope the next one is better.
I started with 4 of Joanne Flukes books but now I am reading DMD her books are so good I have read 3 of her books in the last 2 days. Just love Goldie Bear......
I just finished Red Velvet Cupcake murder by Joanne Fluke
it was better than the last one & i got several good recipes from it but i'm so sick of hannah. She's a judgemental uptight........ I have nothing good to say so i'll stop lol
I just finished Vows, Vendettas and a Little Black Dress
which I freely admit I bought because I loved the title. Turns out I also really liked the mystery, and I'm not even irritated to discover I accidentally read the fifth book in the series first!
Jennifer wrote: "I just finished Vows, Vendettas and a Little Black Dress

I have just finished two cozies:Before The Last Lap, book 11 in the Sharyn Howard mystery series. For me, this wasn't as good as some but was still a good read. The only thing I hate is the next book, The First Shall Be Last is the end of the series. I am so bummed.
I also read Double-Booked for Death. It was okay for a first book in the series, maybe a bit over-long but understandable as setting the stage for the characters, etc. I like bibliomysteries so I will definitely read the next one in the series, A Novel Way to Die.

I read somewhere that she'll be back with a new mystery series, writing as Annie Knox.
I've just finished Dangerous Depths
and I've liked it as the other two books. It's a pity I only have another one to read.

Melodie wrote: "I haven't read these! I need to check them out! ..."Melodie - it's a great series! I think you'll like it quite a bit! ::fingers crossed::
Christi wrote: "I started with 4 of Joanne Flukes books but now I am reading DMD her books are so good I have read 3 of her books in the last 2 days. Just love Goldie Bear......"OOOh It took me a minute to get this - There's no Goldie Bear in Fluke's books. You must be reading Diane Mott Davidson's culinary mysteries. I like the character development in this one. I stopped reading her around book 10 and keep meaning to pick this series up again.
I finished
and I really liked it. The truth is that I didn't enjoy the first book but I loved the second one and decided to continue with the series. I revel in the small town atmosphere and its coziness; the characters are likeable (of course Beth should be a little more self-confident and get rid of the guilt complex that very often rears its ugly head, but she seems to have become more extrovert and courageous due to her PTA activities ) and a new love interest seems to have appeared. I have already bought
and will soon plunge into Beth and Marina's next adventure!

From our lips to the author's ears! :)
The last cozy I read was Red Velvet Cupcake Murder, which really annoyed me with the triangle that won't end. Before that was Easter Egg Hunt Murder.
Melissa wrote: "The last cozy I read was Red Velvet Cupcake Murder, which really annoyed me with the triangle that won't end."I wonder if the author isn't aware of all the complaints about the never-ending triangle, or if she just truly doesn't care that she's making so many readers angry enough to stop reading the books?
