What Cozy Did You Just Finish Reading??? (Archive)
I started it today, but still only at the beginning. No one's been offed yet (just got to the head-lock/botox scene) and neither one of y'all are making me excited to pick it back up. ;-)
Ok, I finished Going, Going, Ganache and I actually didn't mind it as much as I was afraid I would....

One of my most recent reads was "Rest in Pizza" by Chris Cavender. (( spoiler )) Am I the only one who thinks Eleanor is getting awfully cocky, with a growing sense of entitlement? She thinks she needs to be told things that she definitely should keep her nose out of! Thoughts?

I just finished Dying on the Vine by Peter King. I did not like this one a well a sthe first two in the series. I hope the next one is better.

I agree and I hate cliffhangers as well. I'm annoyed with her for messing with a good thing - it felt like she or her editor panicked and felt the need to go the cliche'd route. BUT.... it feels like it will be short-lived, or at least comments made throughout the book make me feel like it will be.

I agree with your 100% Jennifer. I can not believe I am getting this worked over a cozy mystery! I am so attached to these characters!
I just finished Nobody it was a really good book. It had spiritual elements but kept you wondering what would happen next.
Just finished listening to
Red Velvet Cupcake Murder. It was an okay mystery, figured it out of course. Wish the love triangle was over. Almost didn't read this book because of that.
I'm trying to read through some of my stash from past freebies or cheap deals. I just finished
and liked it a lot. I'll pick up the others in this series as well.
Read Faithful Unto Death
last week while I was away. Very good mystery that was nominated for an Agatha. Also just finished
Stork Raving Mad. Great reminder of why I love this author.
Just finished
and thought it was terrific. A witty protagonist and a bunch of quirky characters made this a great cozy read.
Linda S. wrote: "Just finished

I just finished
What in the world has gotten into Tate? But I still love him. Very suspenseful cliffhanger leaving me on the edge of my seat. Mel needs to make up her mind what she wants. Can't wait for sugar and iced.

I didn't realize the second one was available!

I just finished book 10 of the Sheriff Sharyn Howard mystery series by Joyce and Jim Lavene, Last One Down. I wish more of the group would read this series. It is outstanding. Last One Down has been the best so far (I gave it a 5 star). The characters are "real" and you really get to know them over the series. Another of the Lavene's series, the Missing Pieces Mysteries, are also really good. I read the last two, A Spirited Gift and A Haunting Dream back to back. They were great. The next one comes out Oct 1 and I hate that I have to wait 6 months to read it.

Well I finally read
even with the warning of the triangle. Overall I just wanted to smack Mel (view spoiler)I did like the interaction with the magazine people and I really wonder how Olivia has time to run her own bakery when she spends so much of it obsessing over what Mel and Angie do.["br"]>["br"]>
I just finished re-reading the first three Jacqueline Kirby books by Elizabeth Peters.
,
, and
. It had been years since I read these and didn't remember that the first two books in the series are not told from Jacqueline's point of view--interesting way to tell the story. I think I enjoyed the first one the most.
Looked for the next in the series, Naked Once More, but it's not on Kindle. Must check my local library...

Agreed on all points!
I just finished Playing with Poison and was very pleasantly surprised. Fun, fun, and fun. I'll definitely read the others in this series.
I hesitated reading it for some time because "a female pool shark" but found that really she is a 52 year old romance writer who plays pool for fun and is "damn good at both".

I have to read this one too. You are ahead of me on the freebie reads Bandmama!
Finished
last night and think I'm a minority because I didn't like it nearly as much as the first one. Think I would have liked a bit more mystery and a lot less "magick".

Yep - the bit with her mom, etc. etc. was a bit of the mystery reservation....

Heidi you'll like it too and I'm only ahead in the free reads because remember when I took time off before starting my new job . . . . it was worth every penny I'm having to budget out right now but I'm waiting on the 1st of the month paycheck :). I bought Front Page Fatality on a whim some time back and I finally picked it up today. I have to say, it was excellent! A very solid mystery.

I'm reading it now, Heidi, and know what you mean! Why did she do that? She's a good enough writer that she doesn't need this way too overused and worn out gimmick.
