I've only read one of Cindy Blackburn's books so far, but I plan to read the rest. I love a book that leaves me feeling good when I put it down, and hers have that effect.

I liked it ok.. I do wish something would change with the men that Hannah dates.. But as far as the mystery goes it was pretty good. This author used to be one of my favorites but I think that the series has run its course..

I read Body in the Boudoir a few months ago and really liked it. It was my introduction to the series and I'm looking forward to reading more of them.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Finished Wave Good-bye last night. It started out so bad I put it down and started/finished another book instead. Made myself go back and pick it up and am very glad I did - ended up a 4 star read for me! Also the scene when she brings her new parakeet home had me laughing so hard tears came. :)

I need to go back and read more of these - I have read maybe half of the series... The author, Katherine Hall Page, is coming to my local library in May!

Mary (Biblophile) | 4610 comments Just finished The Twelve Clues of Christmas (Her Royal Spyness Mysteries, #6) by Rhys Bowen . I love the series.

I also just finished Frozen Stiff (Mattie Winston Mysteries, #3) by Annelise Ryan . Not sure I consider this series a cozy as it's pretty gory at times.

I've read all the Faith Fairchild series. Very well written. She's not as much a ditz as some of the women in cozies. Also, she's happily married, which is unusual

Bandmama (aka Lucy) - Claiming Mitch as mine | 121 comments I just finished Haunting Jordan (A Port Chatham Mystery #1) by P.J. Alderman and it was amazing! Thank you so much to my book pusher peeps for recommending this one to me! I've been side tracked from my usual reading pace lately with Spring Break AND I have a new job starting next week. I'm so doing the happy dance. More moola = more books, right?

Congratulations, Bandmama! :-)

Bandmama (aka Lucy) - Claiming Mitch as mine | 121 comments Thank you Zoe. I'm super excited but ready to calm back down and settle into a nice routine too if that makes sense. Even good change is stressful I guess.

This one's in my TBR and will now be moving to the top of the pile. I picked it up at a UBS because others here liked it so much.

Bandmama (aka Lucy) - Claiming Mitch as mine | 121 comments Thanks Heidi!

Nell you will love it. Very historic and sweet and home town and well, just cozy :).

I am soooo glad you enjoyed it Bandmama! Congrats on the job. I just got offered a full-time job from my employer too, and I agree: stressful even if it is a good thing! :)

Melodie - The book does alternate with present day and historical mysteries and I know you're not necessarily a fan of the historical part, but I think you might enjoy it. There's some great dialogue between the present day characters, and the mysteries were good. :)

Was it good? I wanted to get in Buried in a Bog before St. Patrick's Day but didn't make it. I've looked at this one a few times. I'm with you so it will probably be next year lol.

If you enjoy the Lucy Stone series yes it was good..I would say one of the better ones although maybe slightly more gruesome when it comes yo the murder than most

Linda Just finished The Christie Curse by Victoria Abbott and it was fabulous!

message 5580: by Melodie (new)

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments Finished Skating Over the Line (Rebecca Robbins Mystery, #2) by Joelle Charbonneau , 2nd in this series. I really don't understand why these books aren't available as paperbacks. They'd get a much wider audience. I like the characters in these books, and the stories are pretty good, too!

message 5581: by Joanne (new)

Joanne | 45 comments I just finished An Uninvited Ghost (Haunted Guesthouse Mystery, #2) by E.J. Copperman , and liked it. The only thing that threw me off was when people were cursing instead of the curse word, the author writes the word "migraine." I didn't get that it was replacing the bad words at first! I guess that makes it a great book for people who are sensitive to language, and I certainly don't want vulgarity in my cozies, but as a migraine sufferer I winced every time I read the word! Other than that, it was quite good and had a surprise twist that I didn't see coming at all!

I don't even remember that! I really like that series though so perhaps I overlooked it.

Heidi | 2446 comments Biblophile wrote: "Just finished Plotting at the PTA (Beth Kennedy #3) by Laura Alden. It was okay, but the main character needs a backbone."

I agree. I like the series but what is with some of these wimpy protagonists in cozies? I also love the Diva series but even Sophie's lack of backbone drives me batty.

Christie and Poirot are rather timeless, don't you think?
