A Burial at Sea
by Charles Finch. At least I think it's a cozy-I love this series, very Victorian, amateur detective Charles Lenox.

The only way I see her growing..."
Becky I only read the first two in the Hannah series but in my reviews I said that I felt the author dumbed the books down somewhat -- she kept repeating the obvious to me!
Just finished If Errands Could Killand was appalled at the numerous grammar mistakes. It's almost as if English were not this author's first language. The mystery itself was just plain silly. Will not be reading any more of his work, that's for sure.
Melodie wrote: "Susie in KS wrote: "I'd like to say I finished

I just finished
I got it as a freebie on my Kindle way back in June of 2011 and decided it was past time to get it read!!!
It was cute, and I'm sure I'll read more Sophie Green mysteries at some point!!
I'm still in recovery mode after knee surgery....I read all 5 of The Samantha Sweet Series, by Connie Shelton, in the past week & 1/2. Loved them.

and this isn't a cozy but I also read

Just finished
and it was a total waste of time. Nothing changes with Hannah and the mystery was tepid at best.
Dizzy wrote: "Melissa how did you like Red Velvet Cupcake Murder??"I actually liked this one, thought it was better than some of the other ones.
Biblophile wrote: "Just finished

Unless something changes BIG TIME, I don't ever intend to pick up another of these...not even for free! (I got my rant on in high gear in my review of this.)
I wonder if the author has received any suggestions to improve on Hannah's character.
I just finished Whose Body? and I have to say I've read a number of the later books and this one was really good. It amazes me how Dorothy L. Sayers'Lord Peter books are great from the very first one in the series.Sometimes when you start a series you have to read the first couple to really decide if you like the series but not a problem with Lord Peter Whimsey.
Dizzy wrote: "that's good Melissa! I plan to read that one soon. I am one of the few who like that series! =p"I used to love the Hannah Swensen books, but after 16 books they really need to be going somewhere and they have just stagnated.
I just finished Last Fires Burning. It doesn't seem like many have read this series by Joyce and Jim Lavene. This is number 7 in the series and I have enjoyed them all. One unique thing about this series as compared to many cozies is that the protagonist is a professional law enforcement officer. I hope some of you will give this series a try. (It is the Sheriff Sharyn Howard series.)
Just finished reading Rhys Bowen's newest Molly Murphy mystery - The Family Way. I couldn't put it down. Love the period detail.
Finished
and liked it! Have looked at this series for awhile and finally found it for a good price. Will be reading the other 2 that are available now!
Christine wrote: "Just finished reading Rhys Bowen's newest Molly Murphy mystery - The Family Way. I couldn't put it down. Love the period detail."I really love this series and have just started this one today.
Kari wrote: "I just finished Sunshine Hunter
It was an OK cozy."I picked this one as a freebie for my Kindle the other day.
Jennifer wrote: "Which period, Christine?"The Molly Murphy mysteries are turn of the century, early 1900s.

Thank you :)
Jennifer wrote: "Which period, Christine?"The Molly Murphy mysteries take place in NYC at the turn of the 20th century. The Family Way takes place in 1904.
Finished
and really enjoyed it. I like this series a lot. This one was a little different as Faith is remembering her wedding and the events that led up to it. Mystery part was good too.
I finished
but I found it to be so-so.Sunny is likeable but she quite often acts silly and immature. I've already bought the next book in the series, but if it doesn't improve, I'll stop reading them.
I just finished
and loved it. I love it when I get a free ebook and it turns out to be a great one! It was a nice light read that only took a couple of hours and maybe it was my headache but I didn't figure out who it was until after Jessie did!! Putting the next 2 books in the series on my want to read list!!!
Where did you get it for free, Lesley?
Jennifer wrote: "Where did you get it for free, Lesley?"Playing with Poison was (maybe still is) a free Kindle book on Amazon. Check out the topic "Cozy Corner -> Cozies on the Kindle - Free or Cheap/Special Price"

Just finished Peach Pies and Alibis tonight. Excellent read, but (view spoiler) an unexpected climax!!
Finished Love You to Death this morning. I liked it. I even went online to see if the next book (advertised at the end of the book) was available and was disappointed to see that it's not.

I actually read the first 3 in this series before I quit. She's a good writer, but I agree that she has a HUGE cast of characters that are hard to keep straight. What did me in was all the cheese talk. I am an extremely rare person who detests cheese, so all the cheese stuff nearly gagged me. I am looking forward to the new series Cookbook Nook series she has coming out as Daryl Wood Gerber.
