I read those a year apart from each other so didn't notice it but it would have annoyed me too!

Danielle (dizzy_booknerd) | 121 comments I just finished A Chili Death A Chili Death (Classic Diner #1) by Jessica Beck . I liked it a lot, not the BEST cozy I've read, but definitely good, and I plan to read the next books in the series at some point.

I love the Aunt Dimity books. Someone I can't remember on here turned me onto them. I'm on number 8 right now. I pick them up when I need a quick fun read.

Zoe (bookwormfromathens) | 712 comments I just finished The Walled Flower (A Victoria Square Mystery #2) by Lorraine Bartlett and, even though the mystery was pretty decent, the characters, except for Seth, are so unlikeable! They all seem to snap, growl, frown at each other and never be happy, content or satisfied. I've already bought One Hot Murder by Lorraine Bartlett and I hope everybody's mood improves; if not, I'll be done with this series.

I don't remember that about the book but I read it months ago. I have One Hot Murder at home too so I also hope it is good!

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Finished Chance of a Ghost last night. Enjoyed it.

message 5412: by Lynne (new)

Lynne | 86 comments I just finished A Taste of the Nightlife last night. I enjoyed it, for the most part. I wasn't too impressed with the wrap-up, but it was a decent read.

I finished it last night too! It was not the best one but still solid IMO.

The Reacher books are truly edge of your seat reads! Not cozies, but good reads!

Lorraine (saanichlori) | 418 comments I finished two books today: The Quiche of Death (great - loved Agatha Raisin) and Plum Pudding Murder (easy read).

I'll agree with that. The whole story line about her father just felt weak... But I still enjoyed it. :)

Yup. I didn't really think that storyline "fit" nor was it necessary. Oh well!

message 5421: by Louise (new)

Louise | 8 comments Just wanted to share my joy in the Daisy Dalrymple series (Carola Dunn, author). I just finished the 4th book, Damsel in Distress, and it was just wonderful. The characters are great (no back stabbing or general nastiness), well-rounded and her stories hold together so well. I have the 5th book in hand to read today, as fortunately or unfortunately I'm having a snow day again, and can't wait to start!

I discovered Daisy last year when Carola Dunn was a featured author for this group. Even though I wasn't looking for a new series to read, I couldn't resist Daisy. I've read several and also have the first two from Dunn's newer series in my TBR.

message 5423: by Louise (new)

Louise | 8 comments What is her newer series?

message 5424: by Nell (new)

Nell | 1223 comments Louise wrote: "What is her newer series?"

It's the Cornish Mystery series. I'm posting the link to the discussion when Dunn was the featured author for the group. All of her published works are listed in the first post

I love Daisy, I discover her through a challenge to read a book set in the past. Dont' remember what the challenge was but it got me hooked on her. I'm on the 4th one and pick her up when I need to escape to England. Haven't tried the newer series but will have to check into it.

I read this one not long ago and really enjoyed it. Can't wait for the next book in the series.

Karen M | 1436 comments I just finished the third No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency book, Morality for Beautiful Girls. I have to say this series is slowly but surely getting better and I will definitely continue to read these books.

MaryJo Dawson | 857 comments thanks everyone for the strong recommendation for the Carola Dunn books..... I am not familiar with her work but it sounds very worth a look see.

message 5433: by Denise (new)

Denise | 618 comments I just finished reading a couple cozies: The Telltale Turtle and A Timely Vision by Joyce and Jim Lavene (I don't know why Goodreads only lists Joyce as the author but it is by the husband and wife team).

Both were good, kind of quirky protagonists. Not too many people say they read the Lavene's books but I am finding them pretty good and a break from the main stream of authors that "everyone" reads.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Denise wrote: "I just finished reading a couple cozies: The Telltale Turtle and A Timely Vision by Joyce and Jim Lavene (I don't know why Goodreads only lists Joyce as the author but it is by the husband and wife..."

If you look at the book pages, both authors are actually listed - I'm betting on the add book/author link only her name shows up because she has "top billing" on the records, with Jim appearing as the secondary author.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Just finished Death, Taxes, and Peach Sangria. Excellent!

NB: language - not for the purists.

Leslie I finished Oolong Dead Oolong Dead (A Tea Shop Mystery, #10) by Laura Childs - only so-so. I like the main characters and the tea shop theme but figured out who and why (mostly) long before the end of the book.
