What Cozy Did You Just Finish Reading??? (Archive)

I think this one was actually better than the 2nd one. The 2nd one tied up way too easily for me.

The second book is also really good! Waiting for the next one to come out in May.

I read the first two in that series and was not impressed so I stopped. I am at a loss as to why everyone loves that series because I found it slow moving and the author kept repeating things so much so that I wanted to shout "we know!"

Ugh! I just picked this one up from the library. Why was it not a quick read??

thank you Heidi! now I feel better.

Yay! For once my pickiness paid off!

LOL . :)

Maryjo - I'm with Heidi on this one - I never much liked that series. I read the first couple and there was nothing about the books that I liked enough to overcome the love triangle that continues to irritate a lot of people.
I am tempted to buy the cookbook she put out though - sounds like a lot of people really like her recipes...

I will say I thought the murder plot in this book was truly well done - clever.

oh yes, the recipes were a plus, and I enjoy baking.

I'll let you know Kari!
Finished Night of the Living Dandelion by Kate Collins night before last -- what a fun edition to the series.

Oh dang. I just finished the Sugar Cookie Murder and was so hoping that this triangle thing is resolved soon. Sounds like no . . . .
Since I've got all of the books on my Nook already maybe I'll make this a "fall back too series" when I run out of other cozies, which, based on my growing list thanks to you all is probably never lol.

Good to know. I got that as a Kindle deal awhile back.

I finished The Cater Street Hangman by Anne Perry. It was really good. I am going to continue reading the series. I seem to be having a bit of a hard time finding complete cozy mystery series in Epub format from the library. I download library books to my nook. So I usually read cozies every once in a while. I decided to join this group to see if I can broaden my list of cozies. I am currently reading books by the following authors: Anne Perry, Joanne Fluke, Janet Evanovich, and Carolyn Hart.

Oh yeah, Maria - what did you think? I just got this in the mail the other day and it's sitting on top of the pile...

I really like this series a lot!

I read the first 4 of these and liked them. Wanted to read the 5th, but it was hard to get for awhile and then I forgot about it. I should see what I can find now.

I read t..."
Me too! I listened to the first four on audiobook but book 5 didn't have an audio version so I stopped.

It seems the authors switched publishers, from Forge to Severn House. That might have something to do with the availability. The fifth one was a bit of fun and halloween-ish (vampires!) and this sixth one takes place at Christmas time and has a very fun sub-plot about a reindeer.
It was mostly the love triangle crap that irritated me.

Cater Street Hangman is the first of a huge series written by Perry about Thomas and Charlotte Pit, as you probably already know, Vicky. I find Perry can get tedious at times, but over all this series and her others, William Monk and the one about WW1, are all worthwhile reads. Her research into the lifestyle of the times is very good.

I'm going to have to read the book if only to find out what coca-cola cake is! I'm a huge coke fan and love cake, so this sounds like a winner! thanks for the recommendation.

The Easy Rawlins books definitely aren't cozies! Especially with a character like Mouse! However, I loved almost all of them!
