It sounds a little like Walter Jon Williams Dread Empire Falls series. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/85...
Noblewoman (well, theres a twist) MC who joins the army and has a relashionship with another army guy, check. Don't remember 130 planets or her grandfather in particular being important though.
On Basilisk StationThe Honor Harrington series? She's not a princess when the series begins, though she does wind up with a title at some point during it?
Remember some giant kitties in it?
Perhaps Primary Inversion? Soz isn't a princess, but she is of the ruling family and it was her grandparents who pulled the empire together in its current state, if I'm remembering correctly.
The Star Prince is another possibility. This is book 2 in this series by Susan Grant and has the run-away princess who's managed to get her star pilot's liscense without anyone knowing it. She runs away and, yep, you guessed it, meets up with the title character, who's step-father has made him heir to their galactic type civilization.
what about the kris longknife series by mike sheperd sounds mostly right. As a marine of Wardhaven, Kris Longknife has a lot to live up to and a lot to prove in the long-running struggle between her powerful family, a highly defensive-and offensive-Earth, and the hundreds of warring colonies. But an ill-conceived attack is bringing the war close to home and putting Kris's life on the line. Now she has only one choice: certain death on the front lines of rim space-or mutiny. She is royalty and both her grandpas and father are importantMutineer

theres also vattas war series by elizabeth moon
The books follow the adventures of Kylara Vatta, a young member of the Vatta family, which runs the interstellar shipping corporation Vatta Enterprises. She had sought a life outside the family business by enrolling in the Slotter Key Spaceforce Academy, but she is forced to resign in her final year and assigned to captain an old trading ship for the corporation. Her military training is put to good use, however, during the crises she faces, first as a ship captain in dangerous situations, and later as the representative of a family under attack.
The first book, Trading in Danger, is narrowly focused on Ky and the local crisis in which she becomes involved. The perspective expands in the later books as connections between piracy and ansible attacks on the one hand and Vatta Enterprises and InterStellar Communications Corporation (ISC) on the other are revealed.

I think there's something to do with 130 planets and or a system of 130 planets.
The main character is female, that I know for sure and I think she enlists in the military of her planet or the system.
She apparently has something going on with another guy in the military or she at least has chemistry with him, I'm not sure which.
Someone in her family, her grandfather? Unified this system of planets. I think there was something about a war being started or prevented.
Oh, and I do believe this is a series.
And that's all I can recall. Any ideas?
