Can TWILIGHT get ANY MORE SICKER?

Here, here!! That is the best answer I have read in a long time. Criticize the work, give a plausible point - not a personal opinion, and if you hate the work why keep reading?

The thing is, as much as we may not like a series, it's popular for a reason with the age group and gender it was written for. I'm not entirely sure which age-group you find yourself in, but I can safely bet that you're either (a) not a part of the 13-16 year-old female age group, and if you are then (b) you're primarily hating it because you can't understand what your peers like it for.
Beyond all of the base triteness in the author's writing and the significant amount of childish fancy throughout all four books, there's one thing people who hate it seem to be missing:
If you can overlook your prejudices and "re-write" the story in your own head as you go along, it turns out to be somewhat enjoyable. Imagination is a lot of fun if you utilise it properly and even books like the Twilight series can provide you with a whole different map.

I didn't notice the supposed religious theme, either. Though I am not one to go by: I obviously missed out on the entire Satanic influence of JK Rowling with Harry Potter, too. C'est la vie.

Just furthers my belief that people can't just enjoy a book/let others enjoy a book without tearing it to shreds and finding "hidden" religious connotations.

Thank you Tara!!

HAHAHAHA! At the bookstore I work at, we used to have a Harry Potter display at the front of the store. People used to put pamphlets on the display that read, If you let your children read these books, they will worship Satan and sacrifice your dog to Devil."
I think kids are just as likely to convert to the Church of Latter Day Saints after reading Twilight as they are to worshiping Satan after reading Harry Potter!

I think book 1 is okay although the sparkling vampire is a mess. The idea is surely fresh but still does not answer the question of why would predators have sparks.
But I love the romance.
I do not find the sequels interesting for the supernatural world in them is getting worse and worse. And I find Jacob's character is the lamest character.

Oh my... Is that for real? I am so glad that in my country with all the regulations, we never consider Teenagers novels or Young adults as books that can change any of our faiths, from believers to atheists or Satan followers.

Oh, there are whack-jobs everywhere. If anything even hints at something different, someone will find a way to try to make you affraid of it. It is just human nature.
The pamphlets, when found, hit the trash as soon as we found them.

I think whenever something goods are there, they will be balanced by the bad ones.

Poor Jacob. Bad Stephenie. Jacob was a good friend in book one with jealousy. Then he gets worse and worse in the sequels. And nothing can compare the baby imprinting stuff. And Edward called him 'son'? Yuck!

I mean, what the hell is this book and why the hell is so much HYPE abou..."
much agreed.

It's obviously good enoug..."
I did - and it's a free download on Smashwords.. No fan base yet - but still - you don't have to write to be a critic.. and I thought the characters in twilight were lipid / creepy to say the least.

anyways, i agree with u , it's not written that well.. but we should still appreciate the authors work : )) !!

In Twilight, she comes to the school as a new girl and manages to make some friends on the first day. Alright, that's fair enough, good for her. But the second she hooks up with Edward, the only time we hear of these friends are on the very few occasions when Edward is unavailable.
In New Moon I think we could all agree that this is where her dependency hits an all time high. I'm sorry, but who cares if you're totally in love with your vampire boyfriend. Just because he abandons you doesn't give you an excuse to alienate yourself from society for - what was it? 4 months? Oh, and then she becomes crazy and starts having hallucinations of Edward whenever she gets an adrenaline high. Because we all jump off cliffs to see our ex's, don't we? Obsessed? Unhealthy? Maybe just a tad.
And then we get to Eclipse. My memory isn't entirely perfect, but... We all make bad decisions in life and teens are by far no exceptions, which makes Bella no exception. But there's making bad decisions and there's just being stupid. I mean they've been together for what? 1 to 2 years. So of course, why not agree to get married, just because it's a condition for Edward to turn her into a vampire. It's a no brainer.
Breaking Dawn? Well this is where she builds up a dependency for Edward AND Jacob, even though Jacob can't stand what she's going to become. Oh but no, just because it's Bella, Jacob has to be there, doesn't he? I mean fine, maybe dependency doesn't show up as much in this book than it did in the others, but still.
Anywho, to answer the question. Of course it can't get any sicker. Just the idea of Jacob imprinting on Bella's baby girl... Oh, and lets not forget what the name would have been, had it been a baby boy instead. EJ? I mean, come on. Did she honestly think Edward would just let that slide.

79-Charlie has no brains.
80-Neither does Bella, which is why Edward can’t read her mind.

I don't think that anybody would need an excuse for that? It's not like we owe society...

I did find the books to get worse, but I thought Twilight was quite good. Best book ever. No. But it was good and I enjoyed it.

Ok, maybe I worded it wrong. Let's just forget about society. It doesn't give her an excuse to just practically lock herself in her room for four months and not even acknowledge her friends and dad. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that breakups don't do that to people who are mentally healthy, even at the extreme end of the spectrum.

Wouldn't know, I gladly use any excuse I can get to do that. :D
However, I guess it does say quite something about Charlie as a father, too, that he seems not the least worried about his daughter suffering from a nervous break down and then going into hiding for several months over a simple break-up.
But whom I'm to judge that, I think people are entitled to do whatever they want to themselves.

It's not part of a group. It is linked to the book itself. You have added it to one of your shelves, so it shows.
I have had to remove books from my shelves so not to get updates on them.

Not really. In Twilight the vampire part was just a perk/added bonus. It didn't really add anything to the story. Edward could be a street thug who sparkles when he has his bling on while Bella was some rich privileged teen who never really fit in and it still would have worked.

If you like it, great. If you don't like it, then there's tons of other stuff for you to read. I don't care for trashy romance novels, but I don't go online to slander them or to criticize individuals who DO like to read them. Grow up!

@ Adam: Since you love Twilight, you surely dislike any bad remarks to the story. But you seemed to forget that there are so many readers think otherwise. And they have the same rights as you to say what they like about Twilight. You can surely ignore the comments but asking them to stop saying what they think right is totally not a mature act. I think you also need to grow up.

Adam, your post was fine. You actually make some very valid points.
I think Twilight haters (and I am talking about the haters, not just the dislike-ers) seem to have an idea that this is all we read. Not realizing that we all have varied, and often rather intellectual, reading preferences.
I dislike Nora Roberts. Fine. But I don't sit around for days posting online how horrible she is, and that her fans suck. I have better things to do with my time.

The only friends I have that consider Twilight is a good supernatural book are ones who never read any other supernatural novels and have always been romance novel lovers.
Twilight:
Romance = big yes
Supes = Awful

1-It is too copied off Jane Austen’s books. I hate that. Although JA also sucks...
2-The actors at the movies SUCK. Why can’t people get that when they’re nominated ..."
I agree with all 100 points, and more.

I don't criticize the people who like the books, I just try to not tell them why I don't like it. Cause it makes no sense to me. But there are times when I want to ask them what they like about it, see if I can figure out how other people think, because with my half of my school life being homeschooled I can't always figure out others thought processes.
These are just my thoughts anyway.

It must be how I was brought up, because I do not see the appeal of such a series.

Every reader has a point here. It does not matter if their claims are valid or not. And ugly remarks against a certain book should not bring the lovers down. If you love a book you just stick to liking it, not because of what others think of it...:)

Edward isn't a vampire, he hangs around in trees and sparkles so he must be a fairy!

As pointed out: No, it's not all the guys. And for at least one of them we can savely assume that he's having a crush on every girl he sees a chance in.
she takes care of both of her parents- I find it highly unlikely that both would be able to take care of themselves-
Not strictly true.
Obviously her father managed well enough on his own, and her mother, though easy come easy go she might be described as, didn't strike me as the type that would starve in front of a closed can of food either.
Neither is given as "incapable", they are merely unwilling - which probably is key to Bella's own phlegmatic character.
and she is one of the very few that Edward can't read or other vamp powers have no effect on...."
Admitted, it's the classic cliché.
From Bella, to Harry, to the classic Greek heroes - all of them cater to the ageless wish of being special, of standing out from the masses (but in a conforming way, please).

That pretty much sums up what I have been saying - few see it that way though.

WELL SAID THAT MAN!

Not mad about your comments. Just wondering?
DO I think TWILIGHT is the best thing ever written? No. But hey, kudos to Stephenie Meyer. She made millions of dollars following her dream. Who am I to put her down? Or you for that matter, especially when you put money down on that total.

I wonder why giving away the list can be something bad.

I'm curious - what lesson would that be? I mean, writing the Twilight books made her filthy rich, so I'm sure she really feels like she must have majorly screwed up in her writing, right?
LOL
I used to be a major twilight fan. I, like, read them all the time over and over again, but after expanding what I read I go back and realise that this book wasn't as good as I originally thought it was... The plot really wasn't that detailed or elaborate and completely predictable, the characters weren't that detailed or likeable and the writing wasn't really that good...
