Reading for me is a form of escape I read the story enjoy it for a few hours and walk away. If I don't like a book I don't read it again or think about it simples.....

Haha, I actually read these a while back and didn't notice this, BUT I noticed in the movies that Pattinson always looks like he's throwing up in his mouth when Bella tries to kiss him.

There are better hobbies out there!
You could form a 12-step program for "being addicted to hating Twilight".
Twilight is not for some people! So? Find another book to read!
Hating and obsessing about it is not healthy!

Seriously guys, these kinds of thread are hilarious and I could agree to a lot of people here. But honestly there should be an option in Goodreads to ignore certain book's new postings from coming up everyday.. I rated twilight 2/5... wish GR was more sensitive enough not to shove the book in my face again everyday.

I know, right? Haters are even more obsessed with Twilight than the fans are! Seems they never read another book or think of anything past their obvious venom for this series.
You would think that these people would just avoid any posts having anyting to do with Twilight. There are books that I don't like, and I avoid threads that have to do with those books. I don't care enough about them to warrant wasting my time talking about them.
But these people are just too obsessed. And you know the old addage: "There is no such thing as bad press." As long as people are talking about it, Twilight will be on the tip of everyone's tongue!

I think its procuctive and helpful to criticize a book in the manner of a review. To say what you liked and didnt like, respectfully to the readers out there, but sarcasm and hatred just seem useless. We need more love in the world, not hate!
People who obsess about stuff are just providing advertising for the thing they hate, anyway.
Better to forget about it, if you dont like it, and move on.

(those seem to be the most common points of view, boiled down)

Seriously, try lo..."
"Oh, careful, sweetie. A couple of your comments were a tiny too close to getting personal." ;)
But in all seriousness, I don't see what's wrong with people stating their dislike of the book. And EHHHH, yeah, I can see how some people are totally going overboard in their irrationality and total loathing of this book, but like you said, if you don't like what you see, stay away from it. If you don't like these mass amounts of angry boards concerning Twilight, stay away from it?

The only connection that comes to mind when I think about disliking a series is when I tried to read The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. I read a few chapters and then put it down. I thought it had too many similarities to the Harry Potter series. When I meet people who like the series, I say, "I've never read them," which is true enough. I can't imagine plowing my way through an entire series that I didn't like. That would seem like pointless torture. Also, it would strike me as impolite to say, "I think they're just a knock-off of Harry Potter". I can't imagine going to the book's thread and posting on there. I don't think I'm a better or smarter reader for not liking the book. I don't trumpet my dislike or wear it like a badge of honor. In fact, this is the only time I've mentioned it.
I've often thought that many of the Twi-haters use the Twilight books to define themselves, especially younger posters. Disliking Twilight means that they are 'discriminating' readers, as opposed to 'popular' readers. Look at the way they define the average fan of the Twilight books as a mindless consumer of mass culture. My concern is that to define yourself as a reader and to spend so much of your time as a reader on what you dislike (as opposed to finding books and discussing what you do like) doesn't make you a better reader. That would be like, instead of reading George Eliot or Walter Scott, I spent my time patting myself on the back for disliking John Grisham. Do yourself a favor, if you didn't enjoy it, move on. Find books you love and books that challenge you.

I can relate to you. I have posted comments on House of Night threads stating how much I dislike those books, but then I ususally move on, rarely posting another thing to them (unless someone replies to my comment). Same with Kresley Cole. I don't like her stuff, so I stay away from any threads that deal with her stuff. I just don't like to get too into that sort of thing.
The ones that define themself by something they hate is hilarious! You ask them what they do consider good reading, and a response you are likely to get is: "anything that is not Twilight." Hahahahaha!

I was making a general remark, not directed at anyone. And yes, I am aware of the irony. But, what is the old saying about the shoe and the other foot? :D ;-)
Now, to use another old saying, I'm off to greener pastures!

Knowing that I dislike the series in general, I will say that she did have some interesting takes on aspects...few. There were so many logic flaws, however, that it had my head spinning. I also (personal beliefs here) found it disturbing and rather sickening to have morman ideals shoved into my face as I'm trying to enjoy a simple (more meanings than one) book.
The series and writing in general is a bit too childish for me. And...vampires sparkling...no. But this is all my opinion.
To each his/her own.
Well, I've said my peace.
I seriously doubt twilight could get any sicker!
The storyline and general idea is OK but I mean COME ON!
jacob ends up with bella's daughter. HOW SICK IS THAT?
Stephanie Meyer either needs mental help or should just be locked in a dark rooom and taught how to use punctuation properly.
AND VAMPIRES SUCK IS WAY FUNNIER THAN THE TWILIGHT MOVIES!

i'ma out! :D

right! and i ripped all of Jacob's part on my NEW MOON book . i hate it. and come to think of it, Edward is so stupid! none of that will happen if it wasn't for him. hahahaha.

I love this list. I rewatched the movies and they totally sucked. It was like no one knew what they were suppose to say. I FUQQIN HATE TWILIGHT!

LOL. i was laughing my a** off! hahaha. what a brilliant mind you have! all in one! hahaha. i can't stop laughing with your number 10 spot. XD
i think every twilight fan should smack their heads against the wall for them to realize that Twilight is indeed, a CRAP.
and go tell your idiot bother not to mess with HUNGER GAMES because HUNGER GAMES is far, far, far, way better than Twilight! For God's sake there's nothing in Twilight but flirting and saving the famous stupid moronic bella. Whereas in HG my heart was racing because it's full of action. Don't you dare compare Twilight to Hunger Games. go tell your brother that. LOL XD

I like how you have your own opinion. I agree with you but the movie was weird.

Its the movie. The books are great and really well written but the only reason that the books got so much hype is because of the movie. It got screaming fangirls on the books (which they probably never read) and since veryone started obsessing over Rob it seriously blew up

as what i've said before, i appreciate the 1st book. that's all. nothing more.
All I'm going to say is you have a right to your opinion and so do we. If we like it then we like it, were allowed to like whatever we want. And if you don't like it then I can respect that. Anyone out there who disrespects someone based on an opinion of a fictional book is... well you know what you are...

RESPECT IS NOT AN ISSUE HERE. just don't take things personaly. ok people?
BTW, I HATE TWILIGHT. LOL :D

@Jo, how is the Twilight series copied off Jane Austen's books? Which Jane Austen books?

Basically, open forum, everyone is entitled to an opinion. But closed forums like these, you can go hard!
Enjoy! :-)

I've often felt that we're all sort of stuck at a certain place on these threads. Instead of exploring the books and getting a better understanding through discussion with others(like in most of the Harry Potter threads), we spend our time going over the same tired arguments between people who liked the books and people who didn't.
Defending Twilight is more of a duty than something that gives me different perspectives, clarifies my own views, or causes me to think and appreciate the books more. In short, it doesn't produce anything worthwhile.
Maybe the way to move beyond this standstill is to separate. Maybe we should have some different threads here or different groups. What does everyone think?

Oh, there are about 100 fan sites online for every hater site.
On Goodreads, you can just search Twilight and click on Groups.
Online, my favourite website is the Twilight Lexicon. http://www.twilightlexicon.com
Some others are: http://www.hisgoldeneyes.com; http://bellaandedward.com/; http://thetwilightfansite.net/.
Also find more at: http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/ts_fans.... Enjoy!

Jo, I agree, I really do. The only thing I have to say about SM's writing is that her next book, Host, was actually quite good. I liked twilight when it first came out, but then I read hundreds of older vampire and werewolf novels and now I cannot stand her blatant plagiarism of other's great works. I'm upset that SM's Twilight series has become such a fad and people believe every book should be written like this. Every new book on the shelves in the YA section seem to be written about vampires or werewolves. Make. It. Stop.

i agree!! i hate vampire and WEREWOLVES novel. ugh. just the thought of it makes me sick.

Bella was just annoying!!!! She moped all the time and always wanted people to feel sorry for her. Oh and she was extremely whiny! Not to mention she was OBSESSED with her boyfriend. I'm sorry but when you can't have a life outside of one guy, there's a problem. I mean I'm all for the whole head first in love thing but come on!
At first i thought Edward was so romantic and dreamy..blah blah blah then later i realized he was kind of a stalker! Who stands in someone's room and watches them sleep!?
Jacob....the most whiny character EVER!!! and the whole imprint thing kinda made me see him as a pedophile :/
And what really bugs me is every time i read Wuthering Heights (because it's one of my fav books ever) everybody asks me if i read it because of Twilight. Really!? As much as some people might like or think the whole world does NOT revolve around Twilight!
P.S. i don't hate Twilight i just hate how obsessed people are with it when it's not really THAT good.
But The Host by SM was WAAAAAAY better :) highly recommended

If there is no need to yell, why are you yelling? And so what if someone posts their opinions more than once? Politicians repeat their opinions all the time, but its not ok for someone else to do it?

Oooh, I'm with you! The book made me ashamed to think of the younger generations. We were actually raised on substance and they are reading trash!

I have been following this subject so I read some of Marie's comments. She did say that she likes the first one only.

I couldn't agree more about the trash! I'm concerned over kids not only being subject to ridiculous ideas of ending your life because you don't have a boyfriend, but also the stunted vocabulary and grammatical errors! The "story" encourages rogue behavior, bodily harm and the concept that manipulating someone's feelings is fine as long as you "love" them. It sickens me. All I can say in a positive light is that at least this "saga" has encouraged reading of other, more deserving works of fiction.

Whoa. Thanks for watching my back sister! *hugs and kisses* LOL. you a hater too? :D

LOL. read my comments. I said, "I appreciate the first book." haha

Haha it's actually spelled "grammar." :) Sorry. It just bugs me when people are so quick to correct other people, when they, themselves, have errors of their own.
