Can TWILIGHT get ANY MORE SICKER?

Shriya Hell NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! It's the worst book ever!

Prerak Kindly explain

Jade aka MrsTosh Luckily we all our own opinions and should be entitled to them. I love Twilight, I love the story and the characters and yet I get that it isn't a classic and some parts have me thinking REALLY??, but does it stop me reading it....no?!

Reading for me is a form of escape I read the story enjoy it for a few hours and walk away. If I don't like a book I don't read it again or think about it simples.....

Library Lady 📚 Besides the usual complaints, does anybody else notice that SM can't write a kissing scene? The whole thing just grinds to a halt when she tries.

Haha, I actually read these a while back and didn't notice this, BUT I noticed in the movies that Pattinson always looks like he's throwing up in his mouth when Bella tries to kiss him.

Tiffany i loved the twilight series and i agree with another poster being from CT we think the word "sick" is like good it was crazy good so that's why i opened this up but i can understand why people hate this series i personally hated the last book and im going to get off topic here for a minute--summit execs are nothing but greedy jerks why are they breaking this movie into two parts? trying to copy harry potter and make more money is why. NOTHING HAPPENS IN BD EXCEPT sex, birth, imprinting turning in a vamp and thats it! we don't even get to see a battle i will not be going to see these movies to give into this gimmick by summit! they make me sick! sorry but i had to rant because the trailers, comic con etc. all breaking dawn is doing is promoting sex and if i want to watch two people get it on i can watch porn for free. this is why i hate the movies so much because they lost the heart that i loved in the series eclipse was the best movie out of them all but this move by summit is so rid. it annoys me to no end. with that sad to those who dislike bella you can watch this youtube clip its so funny about how she is just an awful character. my fav. female is rosalie because she is strong but with that said, the movies have ruined the series. and if S.M. had been smart she never would've gave summit the go ahead Catherine ruined the first film and I'll never get over that. SM should've told them from the get go they were going to invest heavily into this movie knowing how much of a fan base it had...okay sorry guys for the rant lol but its easier to get off my chest here. you go on any website and the twilight zombies go crazy at any one tiny neg thing you have to say about. they live ina delusional world where they think they are friends w/kstew/sm/rpatz/etc. its so sad.

ضحى الحداد you're right LOL

Holly Evidently hating Twilight has become a hobby for some.
There are better hobbies out there!
You could form a 12-step program for "being addicted to hating Twilight".
Twilight is not for some people! So? Find another book to read!
Hating and obsessing about it is not healthy!

Syahira honestly, I kept coming to this kinds of "hate twilight" thread because every time I refreshes the site (to check up my local bookworm group) a new twilight thread comes up and usually with CAPS (EDWARD OR JACOB!!! stuff) that I couldnt help but venting in some threads (Twilight vs *insert book*).

Seriously guys, these kinds of thread are hilarious and I could agree to a lot of people here. But honestly there should be an option in Goodreads to ignore certain book's new postings from coming up everyday.. I rated twilight 2/5... wish GR was more sensitive enough not to shove the book in my face again everyday.

I know, right? Haters are even more obsessed with Twilight than the fans are! Seems they never read another book or think of anything past their obvious venom for this series.

You would think that these people would just avoid any posts having anyting to do with Twilight. There are books that I don't like, and I avoid threads that have to do with those books. I don't care enough about them to warrant wasting my time talking about them.

But these people are just too obsessed. And you know the old addage: "There is no such thing as bad press." As long as people are talking about it, Twilight will be on the tip of everyone's tongue!

Holly I totally agree,AlbertaJenn!
I think its procuctive and helpful to criticize a book in the manner of a review. To say what you liked and didnt like, respectfully to the readers out there, but sarcasm and hatred just seem useless. We need more love in the world, not hate!
People who obsess about stuff are just providing advertising for the thing they hate, anyway.
Better to forget about it, if you dont like it, and move on.

Library Lady 📚 I neither love nor hate Twilight. I see good and bad points to it. However, I love Twilight threads because everyone gets very passionate about it and there are great/amusing/interesting threads and points of view that come up every day. There's nothing wrong with talking about books, even the ones you don't like. I enjoy reading both sides of the arguments. Everyone has a right to say what they think, whether it's "OMG TWILIGHT IS THE BEST BOOK EVER WHEN DO WE GET MORE?" or "TWILIGHT SUCKS LIFE FROM THE WORLD."

(those seem to be the most common points of view, boiled down)

"Oh, careful, sweetie. A couple of your comments were a tiny too close to getting personal." ;)

But in all seriousness, I don't see what's wrong with people stating their dislike of the book. And EHHHH, yeah, I can see how some people are totally going overboard in their irrationality and total loathing of this book, but like you said, if you don't like what you see, stay away from it. If you don't like these mass amounts of angry boards concerning Twilight, stay away from it?

The FountainPenDiva, Old school geek chick and lover of teddy bears Hmm, I suppose it's perfectly fine to have endless threads about how Twilight is the greatest book in Western literature (just kidding, I don't think such a thread exists...at least I hope not, LOL). It's fine to have threads that gush effusive about the "hotness" of Edward or Jacob. But OMG, anyone who dislikes Twilight and says so, suddenly that's obsessive? How about it just being a case of both sides wanting to engage in a healthy and passionate debate about a book? Doesn't mean that Twilight is the only book either side will ever read.

Mickey I've often wondered why certain people who hate the books spend so much time discussing them here. What are they getting out of it, do you suppose? A fan is easier to understand. Their enthusiasm about the books causes them to want to discuss them. We've all had similar passions. But if there is no enthusiasm or love, what motivates these people to spend huge chunks of time on something they hate?

The only connection that comes to mind when I think about disliking a series is when I tried to read The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. I read a few chapters and then put it down. I thought it had too many similarities to the Harry Potter series. When I meet people who like the series, I say, "I've never read them," which is true enough. I can't imagine plowing my way through an entire series that I didn't like. That would seem like pointless torture. Also, it would strike me as impolite to say, "I think they're just a knock-off of Harry Potter". I can't imagine going to the book's thread and posting on there. I don't think I'm a better or smarter reader for not liking the book. I don't trumpet my dislike or wear it like a badge of honor. In fact, this is the only time I've mentioned it.

I've often thought that many of the Twi-haters use the Twilight books to define themselves, especially younger posters. Disliking Twilight means that they are 'discriminating' readers, as opposed to 'popular' readers. Look at the way they define the average fan of the Twilight books as a mindless consumer of mass culture. My concern is that to define yourself as a reader and to spend so much of your time as a reader on what you dislike (as opposed to finding books and discussing what you do like) doesn't make you a better reader. That would be like, instead of reading George Eliot or Walter Scott, I spent my time patting myself on the back for disliking John Grisham. Do yourself a favor, if you didn't enjoy it, move on. Find books you love and books that challenge you.

AlbertaJenn I think I may have ruffled some feathers on some individuals, and confused some others! I was not talking about those people who do post a comment or suggestion that is contrary to the held opinion. But I was speaking of those who, from the amount of posts on the topic, it is obvious that they spend many hours on the toic, often repeating the same theme again and again. How do you know if you are one of those I termed "obsessed"? have you spent a whole evening on one thread, hitting F5 just to see if someone has posted an argument to your comment, just so you can post another comment? Then I don't care if you are a fan or a hater, get off the computer and do something else! The other day, I posted something on this thread. Then I left to have coffee with a friend, dinner with a co-worker, went to work, came home and watched some PBS, and logged back on to find that some people have obviously never logged off (by the time between posts). That is just sad!

I can relate to you. I have posted comments on House of Night threads stating how much I dislike those books, but then I ususally move on, rarely posting another thing to them (unless someone replies to my comment). Same with Kresley Cole. I don't like her stuff, so I stay away from any threads that deal with her stuff. I just don't like to get too into that sort of thing.

The ones that define themself by something they hate is hilarious! You ask them what they do consider good reading, and a response you are likely to get is: "anything that is not Twilight." Hahahahaha!

Torie wrote: "AlbertaJenn wrote: "Holy hell! Wow. People call Twilight fans obsessive, but haters are just like a dog with a bone, aren't ya? You never seem to let up! Even we have lives outside of this series. ..."

I was making a general remark, not directed at anyone. And yes, I am aware of the irony. But, what is the old saying about the shoe and the other foot? :D ;-)

Now, to use another old saying, I'm off to greener pastures!

Amanda Haha rough topic. I dislike Twilight...a lot. It obviously has it's fan base, and there is nothing wrong with reading it. I hate movies in general, but normally I can at least suffer through most. Didn't make it half way.

Knowing that I dislike the series in general, I will say that she did have some interesting takes on aspects...few. There were so many logic flaws, however, that it had my head spinning. I also (personal beliefs here) found it disturbing and rather sickening to have morman ideals shoved into my face as I'm trying to enjoy a simple (more meanings than one) book.

The series and writing in general is a bit too childish for me. And...vampires sparkling...no. But this is all my opinion.

To each his/her own.

Well, I've said my peace.

message 67: by [deleted user] (last edited Aug 05, 2011 07:31AM) (new)

I seriously doubt twilight could get any sicker!
The storyline and general idea is OK but I mean COME ON!
jacob ends up with bella's daughter. HOW SICK IS THAT?
Stephanie Meyer either needs mental help or should just be locked in a dark rooom and taught how to use punctuation properly.
AND VAMPIRES SUCK IS WAY FUNNIER THAN THE TWILIGHT MOVIES!

mariebearxx c'mon i can't even stand that book. and the movie's ridiculous. but i appreciate the 1st book. the rest just jump out of nowhere. Now i'm wondering why did i even bother reading it. haha.

i'ma out! :D

Prerak truly and that JACOB part is toooooooo ridiculous? I mean what does she think her readers want to read? NONSENSE! Wow!

mariebearxx Prerak wrote: "truly and that JACOB part is toooooooo ridiculous? I mean what does she think her readers want to read? NONSENSE! Wow!"

right! and i ripped all of Jacob's part on my NEW MOON book . i hate it. and come to think of it, Edward is so stupid! none of that will happen if it wasn't for him. hahahaha.

Prerak hahahha...truly...and the main thing that pisses me off about this book is (and i have said this many times before)...it just simply drags on and on and on and never seems to be ending with its monotone boring things and ACTUALLY STARTING! i mean C'mon...we want something to happen, we didnt pick up your book to read some SICK pregnancy or delivery things, or to see how many times you THINK about becoming a Vampire or how to switch from one boy to another...c'mon its sickening!

Rachael Maybe, it just depends, if Bella stays with Edward!!!!!(: I think Jacob is right, Edward is a blood sucker!!!! And just so u no, when i read the books i pictured Edward to be handsome, not ugly, and i pictured him to be mustley, and look what Robert Pattenson has........................ FLAB!!!!!!!

LOL. i was laughing my a** off! hahaha. what a brilliant mind you have! all in one! hahaha. i can't stop laughing with your number 10 spot. XD

i think every twilight fan should smack their heads against the wall for them to realize that Twilight is indeed, a CRAP.

and go tell your idiot bother not to mess with HUNGER GAMES because HUNGER GAMES is far, far, far, way better than Twilight! For God's sake there's nothing in Twilight but flirting and saving the famous stupid moronic bella. Whereas in HG my heart was racing because it's full of action. Don't you dare compare Twilight to Hunger Games. go tell your brother that. LOL XD

Its the movie. The books are great and really well written but the only reason that the books got so much hype is because of the movie. It got screaming fangirls on the books (which they probably never read) and since veryone started obsessing over Rob it seriously blew up

All I'm going to say is you have a right to your opinion and so do we. If we like it then we like it, were allowed to like whatever we want. And if you don't like it then I can respect that. Anyone out there who disrespects someone based on an opinion of a fictional book is... well you know what you are...

mariebearxx you know what? i'f you're a Twilight lover, you can just leave this discussion. This discussion was specifically made for the haters. if you love Twilight then don't bother coming here. Haters also need a place wherein they can say or shout whatever it is that they don't like.

RESPECT IS NOT AN ISSUE HERE. just don't take things personaly. ok people?

BTW, I HATE TWILIGHT. LOL :D

Mickey Jo wrote: "100 Reasons Twilight Sucks.

@Jo, how is the Twilight series copied off Jane Austen's books? Which Jane Austen books?

Daisy Sloan I happen to like the Twilight series. But what I find interesting is how much time you guys spend writing about hating the book. If I don't like a book, I give it bad rating and let it go. Even if everyone else thinks it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Just let it go.....

Mickey Wow, AlbertaJenn, interesting links! I had no idea such places existed. Are there places similar to those for people on the other side of the fence(namely, fans)?

I've often felt that we're all sort of stuck at a certain place on these threads. Instead of exploring the books and getting a better understanding through discussion with others(like in most of the Harry Potter threads), we spend our time going over the same tired arguments between people who liked the books and people who didn't.

Defending Twilight is more of a duty than something that gives me different perspectives, clarifies my own views, or causes me to think and appreciate the books more. In short, it doesn't produce anything worthwhile.

Maybe the way to move beyond this standstill is to separate. Maybe we should have some different threads here or different groups. What does everyone think?

Oh, there are about 100 fan sites online for every hater site.

On Goodreads, you can just search Twilight and click on Groups.

Online, my favourite website is the Twilight Lexicon. http://www.twilightlexicon.com

Some others are: http://www.hisgoldeneyes.com; http://bellaandedward.com/; http://thetwilightfansite.net/.

Also find more at: http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/ts_fans.... Enjoy!

Jo, I agree, I really do. The only thing I have to say about SM's writing is that her next book, Host, was actually quite good. I liked twilight when it first came out, but then I read hundreds of older vampire and werewolf novels and now I cannot stand her blatant plagiarism of other's great works. I'm upset that SM's Twilight series has become such a fad and people believe every book should be written like this. Every new book on the shelves in the YA section seem to be written about vampires or werewolves. Make. It. Stop.

i agree!! i hate vampire and WEREWOLVES novel. ugh. just the thought of it makes me sick.

Lydia When i first read it i was a fangirl! (mind you, that was also before i had really gotten into GOOD YA books)After about a year and some better books i went back and read it again and was amazed that i had LOVED that thing! I guess the story was OK but it definitely wasn't AMAZING!

Bella was just annoying!!!! She moped all the time and always wanted people to feel sorry for her. Oh and she was extremely whiny! Not to mention she was OBSESSED with her boyfriend. I'm sorry but when you can't have a life outside of one guy, there's a problem. I mean I'm all for the whole head first in love thing but come on!

At first i thought Edward was so romantic and dreamy..blah blah blah then later i realized he was kind of a stalker! Who stands in someone's room and watches them sleep!?

Jacob....the most whiny character EVER!!! and the whole imprint thing kinda made me see him as a pedophile :/
And what really bugs me is every time i read Wuthering Heights (because it's one of my fav books ever) everybody asks me if i read it because of Twilight. Really!? As much as some people might like or think the whole world does NOT revolve around Twilight!
P.S. i don't hate Twilight i just hate how obsessed people are with it when it's not really THAT good.
But The Host by SM was WAAAAAAY better :) highly recommended

If there is no need to yell, why are you yelling? And so what if someone posts their opinions more than once? Politicians repeat their opinions all the time, but its not ok for someone else to do it?

Ashlie The reason I hate Twilight so much is because I have to hear about how freaking amazing it is EVERY DAY! And if I say I don't like it then I get called a "hater". I hate it because all the people obsessed with it hate on anyone who didn't like it.

I couldn't agree more about the trash! I'm concerned over kids not only being subject to ridiculous ideas of ending your life because you don't have a boyfriend, but also the stunted vocabulary and grammatical errors! The "story" encourages rogue behavior, bodily harm and the concept that manipulating someone's feelings is fine as long as you "love" them. It sickens me. All I can say in a positive light is that at least this "saga" has encouraged reading of other, more deserving works of fiction.
