His tunes are all fucked up and he needs your help.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments iTunes is a terrible mess. Looks like he's got to uninstall it. If he does, he might as well use a different programme for playing his music. Something that plays FLAC files.
He's pissed off he'll lose a lot of his cover art, too.

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments That's the problem with iTunes, Patti. That's why I stopped using it.

Suggest Foobar 2000 to play his music and use Monkeymote to automatically update the cover art. Once that's done, use MP3tag to mop up the ones that Monkeymote missed.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Thank you!

I'll tell Dave now.

message 2361: by Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (last edited Nov 09, 2015 02:17AM) (new)

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments You can also skin Foobar, so you can make it look any way you like.

I'm not saying there won't be some pain, but using the above method significantly reduces it. Monkey mote also converts FLAC to APE and back. It also converts to MP3 for playing on other devices.

For creating FLAC files use EAC (Exact Audio Converter) and download the FLAC DLL. I can email it to you if needs be.

Use Medieval Cue Splitter to split existing FLAC into individual tracks.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments He says thanks so much.

He's playing with Foobar now. I'll let you know if he gets stuck.

message 2363: by David (new)

David Hadley I also use Foobar and EAC, both excellent programmes.

Just downloaded Medieval Cue Splitter, been looking for something like that for a while.

I've looked at Winamp and I much prefer it to Foobar. Is there any reason Foobar is preferable?

Yep, it doesn't crash.

Used Winamp in the past when it was owned by AOL (Distant). It got progressively worse, so I looked for alternatives. Foobar was the answer.

Once you get used to Foobar, there really is no going back, especially if you have a large music collection.

Good point, well made.

Perhaps copyleft would be better.

I use Winamp as well, not as nice as Foobar, but it does take up less room on the screen, which I like.

I also use Spider Player http://spider-player.en.softonic.com/ the Pro version is now free.

David Hadley Geoff (G. Robbins) (The noisy passionfruit) wrote: "Dark One V4 is my skin of choice at the moment. Very pretty."

I don't tend to use skins. I like them to take up as little space on the screen as possible, tuck them away in a corner out of my way, but still accessible when I forget what a song is called.

Think yourself lucky. I once demonstrated to my wife the difference between MP3s and FLAC over several songs.

For some reason she still hasn't thanked me.

Oh, I dunno. Dr Hook were one of the best gigs I went to back in the day.

message 2398: by Marc (new)

Marc Nash (sulci) | 4313 comments just not my thang :-)

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments Dr Hook were much misunderstood as a band. Their first single, Silvia's mother was thought to be a comedy song as it was written by Shel Silverstein, a very popular comedy song writer, and whilst they were humourous in their style and delivery, they were capable musicians.

An antidote for Joy Division, I would suggest.

message 2400: by Marc (new)
