What was the last... `Tune` that you played ?

Anyone else know that story?"
I've also heard it attributed to Keith Moon.
I always thought it was down to John Entwistle. Currently listening to Richard Thompson's latest, an acoustic album of past hits. It's a bit lazy in its execution, but in a way that makes it more enjoyable.
I'll have to tell Dave about that album Andy. Probably he already has it.I'd ask but he's busy snoring at the moment.
Archie, Marry Me by the Alvvays. Can't get enough of it at the moment. Very American for want of a better term, but great lyrics.
Mrs E had never listened to either Carol King's Tapestry or Marvin Gaye's What's Goin On. That's the choons sorted for our car journey today!
Marc wrote: "My 15 fave cover versions http://sulcicollective.blogspot.co.uk..."Fantastic call on the Stranglers' Walk On By. Shatner also did a great cover of Rocket Man (as did Kate Bush, although at a different end of the talent spectrum).

My 13 year old son and I had an argument. Well, not exactly a "you don't understand me, I hate you! argument. More of a lively debate. He reckons that he doesn't like "old music", by which he means anything with a 19 in the date with the honourable exception of Bohemian Rhapsody. So I said I could come up with ten songs all from the pre-computer era with a fair chance that he would like at least one of them.
This is what I came up with:
Simon & Garfunkel - sound of silence
Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven
ZZ Top - Legs (I'm hoping that the video might appeal!)
The Kinks - Lola
Beatles - Hey Jude
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama
Rolling Stones - You can't always get what you want
Eagles - Hotel California
Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run
Fleetwood Mac - Albatross.
His challenge over the remainder of the school holiday is to yoofchube them (the only way he access music). I defy him not to like at least one.
What do you think? Anything else you would add to the list for a boy who thinks that it ain't music unless it's techno dubstep monstercat? Or something like that.
Wow, had to dig deep to find the music thread! The theme song for The Vikings. Fricking brilliant!

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Endless-River...I have just listened to the new Pink Floyd album "Endless River".
I was actually pleasantly surprised. It goes back to really early Pink FLoyd. Bold instrumentals, slightly surreal and in fact very well prodiced.
If you don't like Pink Floyd you will not like this album at all.
If you liked Echoes this is going to press all the buttons.

Apparently ;-)
Safe as Milk album, Captain Beefheart!! Always a surprising mix, from beautiful ballads and blues to hard rock, for those that haven't heard it!
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Love-Affectio...Joan Armatrading - Love and Affection. A welcome blast from the past. Great Sax in the middle!

Ageless.
15 songs actually - my music chart for songs on the theme of Warhttp://sulcicollective.blogspot.co.uk...
Perhaps not everyone's cup of tea. But the new Charlatans album is superb. I got a pre release copy. On vinyl. Signed by the band. Delightful.
I've been tinkering with a bit of Halestorm recently; jolly good modern rock with a hint of classic rock thrown in - very palatable.
I saw Will's request for suggested listening for his son and that set me wondering. A few offerings for the next holiday:Pink Floyd - Money
Fleetwood Mac - The Chain
Chris Rea - God's Great Banana Skin
Link Ray - Rumble
Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication
System of a Down - Chop Suey
Richard Thompson - Beeswing

Chris Rea - God's Great Bana..." How about Autumns Child by Captain Beefheart on Safe as Milk. Surely one of the most beautiful and haunting tracks of all time.
Listened to Crime of the Century this evening by Supertramp.I cannot believe its over 40 years old. I also cannot believe going to see them in concert when they had released it. Yikes.
First concert I went to was Weeley '71 ! It was so long ago that is where the word Wally came into being (Guy called Wally gets lost in the crowd on the way back from the loo, mates start the chant 'where's Wally'. Even after he turned up we were still shouting it and after it went to Wally Wally, Wally, Oi Oi Oi, I guess it was set in bedrock!!Amazing festival with T Rex (complete with Marc Bolan), Faces, load of others...... Often listen to T Rex now.

I was, but they hadn't developed long playing records and I couldn't stand singles.
Currently enjoying the stylings of Father John Misty. Particularly his tune "Chateau Lobby #4". Radio 6 giving him lot of airplay and I bought the album on the back of it. Did I mention I saw The Who on their recent tour? Big box ticked there.
Just been listening to Led Zeppelin 1. As you may know they have been releasing super high quality versions of the first 5 albums. The quality is fantastic and there are loads of live tracks too.Still sounds fresh even after all theses years.

I could fancy some of that. I think they've been releasing them on vinyl too, easy present if someone could alert the wife.
