I'm listening to Thin Lizzyhttp://www.amazon.co.uk/Greatest-Hits...
I might just chill out on the Settee this afternoon.
Or....
Any second now I start singing "The Boys are back in Town"
Getting my folk groove in by investing into the 2010 re-release of Mike Oldfield's seminal Ommadawn. The world's number one proponent of hanging metallic pipes tinkered with the original masters so that some of the instruments that were lost in the 1975 mix have been moved to the foreground. It's not entirely successful, bit it's nice to hear such a clean version of one of my favorite albums of all time.Included in the not quite deluxe release is a remaster of the original version which is what shows what a remarkable piece of music it is (especially the final eight minutes of part one). They've also unearthed a work in progress version, where Mr Oldfield begins telling "I say I say I say jokes" halfway through.
I'm listening to the soundtrack of Jekyll & Hyde. I'm really enjoying it, same it's not on WestEnd anymore

We caught them in Harrogate and they actually did part of Ommadawn as an encore. Impressive to see such a complex work rendered by two multi-instrumentalists and a bit of sample and hold pedalling.
Pixies new single - Bagboy. Brilliant stuff. Great to hear new music from them and really hoping they'll be a full album somewhere down the line, (Kim) Deal or no (Kim) Deal. See what I did there ...?! :-)

As the sun is out and I have somehow arrived home from work early (it is Poets' Day after all), I'm in the garden blaring out Dusty In Memphis as a public service for the neighborhood.
You know, I really don't rate Bette Midler. I don't even know who she is but I don't like listening to her unfortunately she is on 2 of my compilation CDs
Just googled her, she's more famous than I expected and there are other things she is in that she sounds better in. To be more specific I don't like her singing the 2 songs that she sings that I have on my iPhone.
I've been listening to a song from way back, 1983/4 called Suzanna by V.O.F. de Kunst, known as Art Company here in UK. I listen to the English version.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xsia-k...

Try her version of Beast of Burden. For me, she's best when she's singing the blues, not those horrid ballads her management convinced her to try.
It's 70s Sunday, so am getting my groove on to some Stones (Exile On Main Street and Some Girls), and Television's sublime Marquee Moon. Not arf!
Amy Winehouse only made three albums - that surprised me....http://www.amazon.co.uk/Back-To-Black...
Anyway, Saturday morning with Amy Back to Black!
I've recently been knocked out by a type of dance called Shuffling:www.youtube.com/watch?v=Or9TTP6LCFE
So I've been practising. And am consequently addicted to this:

The teenagers that hang around the old band stand (which is not some weird art thing) in town always attempt to do this and i've always wondered what the hell it is. i feel educated
I've been getting my fill of 2cellos all afternoon. I do enjoy a good instrumental. My favourite I think is either The Resistance, Orient Express or Technical Difficulties.

It's a six minute tutorial by a sixteen year old kid called Emerald Supernova. There are only two basic moves:
--The running man
--The shuffle
Let us know how you get on ;-)

I'm going to a wedding at the weekend. Every man over fifty will be dancing like that.... But a bit slower I expect.

I honestly cannot dance to save my life!
The sun's out so am sitting outside being harassed by monstrous gulls in an otherwise lovely park in the centre of Canterbury. My soundtrack is Kate Bush's very summery "Aerial" album. The presence of Rolf Harris on its second side is slightly uncomfortable. Should unpleasant revelations regarding a performer's past make us reappraise his or her work?
I've been doing the running man in nightclubs for years it was me and my pals signature move, we called it the little girl dance. I'm so cool I'm ahead of the kids
Jud (Disney Diva) wrote: "I've been doing the running man in nightclubs for years it was me and my pals signature move, we called it the little girl dance. Then I have to practise coming seamlessly in and out of the moves ... and then video myself for feedback. ...
Jud (Disney Diva) wrote: "I don't think I've ever tried it backwards but I'm out tomorrow night so I'll give it a go."Fantastic. It's quite hard, so your first attempt should be in public.
Really enjoying listening to a few tracks from the band "London Grammar" (they were on Simon Mayo's show yesterday, and have recorded a session for Dermot O'Leary). Definitely one to watch/listen to.
Jud (Disney Diva) wrote: "After a couple of Jägerbomb's and in a pair of high heels what could possibly go wrong"Liking your style ;-)
Andy wrote: "Really enjoying listening to a few tracks from the band "London Grammar" ..."Well, how fitting that you mistyped the link there, Andy ;-)
This is it: www.londongrammar.com. Wow. Listening to "Strong." Beautiful.
I know I'm a bit late but... Memento Mori by Kamelot. Question is, does anyone else know the song..?
