Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments Sadly, Kevin Ayres died earlier this week. He was that most unusual of singer songwriters, one that was not that bothered with fame and more interested in enjoying himself.

Probably his most significant "discovery" was Mike Oldfield and a number of other greats played with him over the years.

He will be sadly missed.

It is a shame. Just managed to bag a couple of tickets for Tubular Bells for two (a duo of Australians playing the whole album live using over twenty instruments). Nice way to mark the 40th anniversary of a classic.

'The Incident' - Porcupine Tree's masterpiece. Can't get it off the turntable (metaphorically speaking)

Also, Deep Purple in Rock - played for first time in ages. Raw, exuberant, still astonishingly good 40+ years later ...

which Pink Floyd Geoff? Barrett era madcap psychedelia? The drug-haze indulgence of Meddle or Obscured by Clouds? The angst-ridden musical virtuosity of Animals/ Wish You Were Here? The multi-media high concept of The Wall? Or the post band fall-out of albums thereafter? :-)

Thanks Geoff!

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments I would suggest that it is mostly the post-Barrett era, but they are not beyond performing Julia Dream.

The guitar style has a lot of Gilmour influence.

My pleasure Simon. Which one did you get?

I had the pleasure of seeing Pink Floyd just after they produced Dark Side of the Moon. The album had charted but not become a monster at that point. They performed Echoes as an encore - all 20 minutes of it.

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments Listening to Ogden's Nut Roast by the Small Faces. Enchanting.

Yes, I listen to Little Feat too, Patti. But you expected that, didn't you?
