Sadly, Kevin Ayres died earlier this week. He was that most unusual of singer songwriters, one that was not that bothered with fame and more interested in enjoying himself.Probably his most significant "discovery" was Mike Oldfield and a number of other greats played with him over the years.
He will be sadly missed.

It is a shame. Just managed to bag a couple of tickets for Tubular Bells for two (a duo of Australians playing the whole album live using over twenty instruments). Nice way to mark the 40th anniversary of a classic.

Anyone ever heard of Harry Chapin. He is singing 30,000 pounds of bananas - I have no idea how he got in the house!
Oh, all right then.'The Incident' - Porcupine Tree's masterpiece. Can't get it off the turntable (metaphorically speaking)
Also, Deep Purple in Rock - played for first time in ages. Raw, exuberant, still astonishingly good 40+ years later ...

Yup.
I'm listening to Mostly Autumn at the moment. I'm thinking of going to see them in concert at the start of may. If you like Pink Floyd, you should give them a listen.

The angst-ridden musical virtuosity of Animals/ Wish You Were Here? The multi-media high concept of The Wall? Or the post band fall-out of albums thereafter? :-)
Had a £2 mp3 voucher so just downloaded some 'Mostly Autumn'. Very Floydy....That night in Leamington......
Thanks Geoff!
I would suggest that it is mostly the post-Barrett era, but they are not beyond performing Julia Dream. The guitar style has a lot of Gilmour influence.
My pleasure Simon. Which one did you get?
I just heard Hugh Laurie singing After You've Gone from his Let Them Talk album. He's got an amazing voice. Very bluesy.
I've currently got a playlist consisting of Lindsey Stirling (a very good violinist), The Piano Guys, some of the Les Miserables soundtrack and Phil Collins on the go! Eclectic mix but it got me through the train ride home and some revision :)
Dave and I had a music marathon last night. Took turns choosing songs.Hard work as we have so much music.
Thought Dave was the only person on the planet who listens to Little Feat.I gotta get Dave to Tollesbury.

The drummer was especially amazing.

I had the pleasure of seeing Pink Floyd just after they produced Dark Side of the Moon. The album had charted but not become a monster at that point. They performed Echoes as an encore - all 20 minutes of it.
