I have lots of classical music at home, just that I don't have enough space for it on my iPod, so can't play it at work :(.And I've had my culture chip re-inserted.
I'm now listening to a Chopin piano recital, which includes the Minute Waltz and the Revolutionary Study.
I'm listening to the Poulenc Organ Concerto. Stirring stuff! and one of my favourite classical pieces.
When I was working in Wiltshire I used to go to a lot of classical music concerts as the local music society used to have monthly concerts. I really miss them.
Geoff, you have inspired me to listen to something classical. Two of my favourites Moonlight Sonata and Memories of the Alhambra.
Geoff (G. Robbins) wrote: "That sounds lovely Gingerlily. I will have to look that up."The organist gets a great work-out, but the rest of the musicians have very little to do!
Dave's brought a stack of his new CDs for the drive. We're listening to Jethro Tull Songs from the Wood now.
I asked him if he was bringing his iPod and he said there was no point, so no.
Hehe. Don't forget to bring the thingy tonight, Simon.
I brought my iPod so I can listen to MY music on the way back to Barry! Yay!
Chris wrote: "Listening to Louis Armstrong Christmas CD - "Christmas in Harlem".Not classical, but a classic..."
Excellent Chris. Satchmo had the most wonderful voice, to say nothing of his trumpet playing.
Now it's Josh Grobin - his Ave Maria is one of the best - does that sound a bit like a line from a Two Ronnies' sketch?
I'm listening to Tchaikovsky's Ballet Music. Very relaxing. Many years ago I took Linda to see the Bolshoi in Birmingham as a birthday present. This was when it was still the USSR and they received their full funding. It was truly spectacular with their full 120 person ensemble.
My wife has Tony Bennet's 'Duets' album for Christmas. I bought it for her (apparently, can't remember doing it though...). Very more-ish. Now I'm listening to Lady Gaga (and Tony), Amy Winehouse (and Tony), so really branching out (and diversifying in age groups!).
Dave seems to have got 50 - something new albums this holiday. Can't be bothered to list them all....

Maybe one or two will bubble to the surface as good (or at the least bearable). Let us know which ones they are (if any!).
Lol, ain't that always the way.I was listening to CCS on the way home tonight, with the wonderful voice of the late Alexis Korner. If you don't know who Alexis Korner is, then it is time for some serious education - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexis_K...
Do the names The Rolling Stones and Rod Stewart mean anything?
'The final cut' Pink FloydWhen the missile went off it scared the c**p out of me - on my new cd player.

Are you aware that the picture on the back cover with the army officer with a film can under his arm and a knife in his back is supposed to be Alan Parker, the director of The Wall? No animosity there then.It was so acrimonious that when the film came out there were two seperate parties for the film people and Pink Floyd. Roger Waters at his most controlling.
That explosion is one of the best on CD (if there is a top 5 of musical explosions!). Do you have 'Pulse' the live album? I think it's the finale, then end of 'Run like hell' - that's my number 1 musical explosion - let me know what you think.
La Marcellaise by Marcel Dadi.Dadi died when N93119, the Boeing 747 on TWA Flight 800, exploded off the coast of Long Island. 17 July 1996.

Me too Simon. It amazes me how much vitriol she generates among comedians and 'celebrities'.
Drowned out the drunken yobs on the flight yesterday by listening to Dido.Bit of Enya as well. I adore Enya.
I watched it. Really enjoyed it. Must have been a recent concert because she talked about the death of Amy Winehouse.

I love Enya too, but her sister Moya Brennan is even better!
I was listening to the radio via iplayer & think I'll have to give up on it - the sound is terrible. Tried some of my CDs (easy job as I have only a few) & it is the speakers that seem to be iffy. I will have to see if the radio I want to listen to is on DAB (it wasn't - that is why I started listening on t'internet)
These will give you a flavour of her.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWNbKn...

I'm now listening to all the Moya videos I can find. Very relaxing and beautiful.... I'm floating away...

In the pub today, kindle at the ready, fired up Dirk Gently for group read, extraneous noise from customers, TV, juke-box: no problem, earphones squeezed into lug-holes: 100 classic masterpieces switched on, volume too low: can still hear the outside world - turn up volume to full blast - Panic! - still too low! - is my kindle (just over 1 year old) broken? Pub clientele giving me strange looks! Remember to plug earphones into kindle - Ow! TOO LOUD.
Sunny Side Up, Paolo Nutini (up really loud to drown out the storm outside!) Just can't believe that voice comes out of that boy
Listening to Brahms' Violin Concerto in D, Opus 77. I'll miss all this classical music when I'm back at work.
