Just finished Julia's Room. I found this to be a gripping account of a day in the life of a 70s Fleet Street journalist. I gave the book five stars on my blog.

Do you know, I don't think I've seen any midges in Aberdeen!
Thinking about giving up onDead Until Dark. I know my grammar is atrocious but I am 100% certain that even I could write a better book than her. At least, I would only keep in text that was related to the story and I would not describe a person (living or dead) as having a mashed up face! In her case it was a living person. Really don't want to give up but I might have to.
Just finished the hugely entertaining Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal?, Jeanette Winterson's autobiography. Brief 5-star review here.Just started Pompomberry House by Rosen Trevithick.
Finished Dead Until Dark (finally) it is horribly written (I firmly believe that even I could do better and that is saying something). Not sure if I will ever read any of the others in the series or not. Have started Last Full Measure, I bought it for hubby but it's the most expensive unread book on my kindle so I thought I may as well read it myself and get my money's worth cause he isn't ever going to read it.Got the next 19 books lined up after this in descending price order.
Year of the Celt: Imbolc by goodreads author RobGodfrey .. AND i've done a review .. see blog here >>> http://www.goodreads.com/author_blog_...
Just finished Vernon Baker's Slow Boat to Purgatory - Extremely good - I must read Book 2 - and add the review to my blog. Got the annual visit from son today and for the next couple of days so I might be pushed for time!
I finished reading The Secret World of Fluffy Ratbag last night, it did have me giggling several times.
Now I'm reading Donna Fasano's book which is on sale at the mo, The Single Daddy Club: Derrick, I'm already half way through and enjoying it - it's sweet and soppy.

Finished Potter, and Dave Wailing's Copy, and just started DMA's Serpent in the Glass (easy reading in the green room...)
Finished A Memory of Light , the final Wheel of Time book, now back to A Cavern of Black Ice and The Blinding Knife . Check out my review of A Memory of Light.href="http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
I finished Last Full Measure, it was surprisingly good although they are going to make me buy the next one to find out if they found the Xindi or not. Not fair. Ah well, £4.99 down £59.70 to goGonna start Good Tidings next :o)
I've finished reading
by Jamie Ford last night. I really loved this book! Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet is a beautiful, fascinating, tender and moving story from beginning to end. Like the title suggests, the story is such a bitter-sweet tale, heartbreaking at times and so warm and sweet in others. All the characters were vivid, well-developed and realistic. I really loved the characters of Henry, Keiko and Sheldon, and really cared about what happened to them. I found it really hard to put this novel down and I look forward to reading more from this author! I gave this novel 5 Stars! My full review is here:

Now I'm a few chapters into
by John Steinbeck.
I've just finished David Haynes' The Boy Who Kissed The SkyI really quite enjoyed it. Not quite what I thought - but better.
Finished & reviewed Steve Berry's The Amber Room. The first of his I've read, and I recognize a kindred spirit.Working on Michael Connelly's The Drop audiobook.
I've finished reading all three of the books in Donna Fasano's Single Daddy Club series - enjoyable light relief.
Now I'm reading Cabal which I've had on my kindle for two years, couldn't get into it when I first started to read it back then - started again from the beginning, and after a slow start for me as I couldn't warm to Zen, it's now turned into a gripping and intriguing story.

I finished Good Tidings I loved it! Think this will become one of my favourite series, I will definitely be buying the rest in the series but I'll have to wait till I've caught up on some of my other paid for books first.Started Excession which has me a bit confused so far (only read the first chapter) confused in a good way though, I want to know whats going on.
Finished The Serpent in the Glass last night and started Excession (I'm on Chapter 3, Jud, and so far it's like 3 different stories...)
At last finished The Legacy of Eden, a rather tedious read. On to the oldest of my TBR pile, Appalachian Justice, which I originally 'sampled' 2 years ago and liked.

I wish I'd said the same :-(
he he. But you did manage Kafka. So many lovely books I still want to read. I haven't entirely given up on tackling Proust but my French has rusted somewhat. (that sounds like a bad translation!)

Kafka is the master! No managing to read about it, he sweeps you along like a magic carpet you don't even realise is flying
Marc wrote: "Tedious? You want to readAmerican PsychoStill I'm almost through it now"Try proofreading books about eliminating waste in the construction industry. This will give you a whole new view on 'tedious.'

no one was paying me to read American Psycho. I undertook the trial of my own misguided free will!
Jud (Disney Diva) wrote: "Just think of the service you have done for the rest of us Marc, who now know to avoid it."don't get me started, none of you would probably have anything left to read at all :-)
I finished reading Cabal last night, which was very good and very well written, but I didn't enjoy it much. I never grew to like Zen and I was depressed by all the corruption and dishonesty around - I'm sure it's true to life though!
Feeling a bit rough today so I'm comfort reading, re-reading The Railway Children which I've read several times before - but I love that story, and the film that was made from it. So it's just right to light the woodburner, make a cup of tea, and curl up with!

Comfort reading is good :)
PS The Railway Children was filmed near where I live.

I've just finished Killer Instinct, there were a lot of formatting issues, but will read the second to see. Going to read my paperback for the rest of the weekend
Just finished Charles Middleworth by Guy Portman. I enjoyed it. The writing was a little indified but the story was intriguing. Reviewing soon. Got to have a yawn and a scratch first!
I'm revisiting my childhood.
Finished The Railway Children yesterday (I've already read it several times) and loved it.
Today I am re-reading The Wombles!

Marc wrote: "have reviewed it if you want :-)"Ooh, what a tease. I've just had a look. Latest review is yesterday. Maybe it's not moved through the Goodreads system yet? ... Would you post here, Marc?
Marc wrote: "here you gohttp://www.goodreads.com/review/show/..."
... I am convinced. I shall not be adding this to my TBR list ;-)
It's already on my TBR list. Marc, where were you with this review when I downloaded the book a year or so ago? ;)
Jonathan wrote: "It's already on my TBR list. Marc, where were you with this review when I downloaded the book a year or so ago? ;)"not on GR that's for sure :-)
Hi all,Just finished The House of Silk: A Sherlock Holmes Novel. I am a bit Conan Doyle fan so I wasn't convinced this wodl be any good but it really is. Horowitz captures very nicely the settings, language and feel of the original books so it doesn't feel like you're reading an interpretation of Holmes. The plot is full of twists but didn't feel contrived to me and the relationship between Holmes and Watson felt just right. Well worth a read.
I've just started And Then There Were Nonewhich is shaping up nicely. You know what you're getting with Christie and this is drawing me in nicely so far.
Just finished Pompomberry House by Rosen Trevithick (Five star review).Just started Fun Home by Alison Bechdel.
Has finished Priced to Move - Ginny Aiken. Now I think I am going to read Destined to Feel - Indigo Bloome.
