Just finished - just started
You sign an "intent to join uo" at 65, at which time they take a DNA sample, then at 75 you join for a 10 year term, at which point they give you an enhanced "20year old" body which they made from your DNA sample. Downside is they declare you legally dead and ship you off to the other side if the galaxy. You can never go back.
this week so far, I have finished the first True Blood omnibus Dead Until Dark
Living Dead in Dallas
Club Dead
and Daisy Dalrymple bk 15
Gunpowder Plot
all of which qualify on my Challenge (which I will update later)
Ooo I'm a few books into the True Blood series. I like it but don't love it. I'll be interested to hear what you think Kath
i think my overall thoughts are best summed up with the fact that i am toying with the idea of paying full price for the next omnibus book on kindlethey are very easy to read... bit short though but enjoyable nonetheless - a few things annoy me but on the whole they tick the box of enjoyable escapism
and they are better than the tv show :)
I don't overly love them but I agree they are good escapism novels. The later ones aren't meant to be as good though so I doubt I'll ever finish the series
Really. My friends really rave about it, I always thought they were a little mindless. I guess this proves it ;o)
Just finished the most recent group book! Seemed fitting that it be the first book finished on the new Kindle!!!
I didn't enjoy all the stories but there were some serious gems in there!! Definitely found an author or two I want to read more off!!
Yesterday I finished reading
by Kate Alcott. I really enjoyed this novel. It was very hard to put it down. I loved all the historical details about the Titanic and its survivors. I liked this unique take on the Titanic disaster. Not many books about the Titanic sinking feature the aftermath of it and how survivors try to deal with what happened and move on. I gave it 4 stars! I'm also about to finish
by Janet Evanovich and make a start on
by William Peter Blatty.
Finished No Escape, set on the isle of Wight, good story but abit slow.starting Trouble Comes to Town: A Hailey Hanson Mystery.
Just finished one of Donna's latest books.

Finished Trouble Comes to Town: A Hailey Hanson Mystery, pathetic, lots of sighing and freaking out.Starting One, Two ... He Is Coming for You.
Just finished The Horologicon: A Day's Jaunt Through the Lost Words of the English Language - not quite as good as its precursor, but still fun - and now starting The Banned Underground.
Just finished State of Wonder which, to my surprise, was shortlisted for the Orange Prize in 2012. The story was a brilliant idea but I found the actual writing a bit pedestrian. I was easily distracted from it!Just started The Super Spud Trilogy by Michale Diack.
just started Revenge of the Tide well, about half way through - so far i have found it to be not quite as good as Into the Darkest Corner but it is keeping my interest nicely...
finished Revenge of the Tide a pleasant few hours of distraction - well written and kept my attention throughout - end didn't disappoint now started The King of Terrors cos i enjoyed Max and have been meaning to read more of his stuff
Just finished my first book of the year, Someone to Watch Over Me: The True Tale of a Survivor Haunted by the Demons of AbuseVery harrowing book and shows the impact abuse has on so many aspects of life. Am 60% into Only the Innocent
Jane wrote: "Just finished Swarm a really good sci-fi book. Just started Magyk"Cool, I'll give that a go :)
EEEh, I forgot about this thread! I've finished The Screen Conspiracy by Maxwell Black. Good thriller/conspiracy theory story. Also Backup and Copy by David Wailing. Both rather jolly good!
Now reading Ruler's Desire by David Staniforth. I read Fuel to the Fire recently which is the first in this series. Very nice fantasy.
I've had a run of reading several books by Marcia Lynn McClure who writes very soppy, sweet romantic romances.
Now I'm reading one of the group books, The Jungle Book which I am enjoying very much.

Finished Only the Innocent, enjoyed it so much I gave it 5 stars. Not sure what to read next, not overly keen on my a - z selection so might start my series challenge
I finished Charles Dickens: A Life and actually really enjoyed it, Dickens was not the kind of person I expected him to be. I also finished Copy and Maureen goes to Venice (both excellent) and I have started Murder on the Links to go towards my Agatha Christie challenge
I just finished reading
by William Peter Blatty. The Exorcist is an engrossing, gripping, disturbing and well-written supernatural tale. I really enjoyed this novel. I thought the author's writing style was excellent. I found it very hard to put this book down for long. I just had to know what happened next even though I've seen the movie half a dozen times! It didn't frighten me to death but it did scare me a good bit! Even though the book is over forty years old, except for a bit of seventies slang here and there, it really isn't dated at all. The Exorcist is one of the best horror novels that I've read in a long time. Even if you've already seen the movie a hundred times I'd recommend reading the novel as it's a lot better than the movie! My full review is here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Now I'm about to start
by William Landay.

Kath wrote: "Marc wrote: "started American Psycho for my sins"i've got that on my tbr - will be interested in your thoughts!"
Ok. I've resisted it since it came out in 1991, but got a free copy at a reading last year and currently broke so finally gave in and picked it up.

i got it on kindle for 20p one of the price match things i guess - figured why not!
Just finished The Elephant Vanishes by Haruki Murakami, another fantastic collection of short stories. I wasn't overly impressed with 1Q84, so this was great to read. Still haven't read all his books yet, though.American Psycho is one of my favourite films, and Bret Easton Ellis one of my favourite authors. The book, however, is a slog to get through but still brilliant.
