DisturbancesThe Crucible - for Sarah!
I've finished a number of books while I've been away -I read Peril by Ruby Barnes - this man is such a good writer. I couldn't warm to it quite as much as The Crucible because I didn't like the main character - Couldn't fault the writing though. I must read his other book, The Baptist.
I also read Jenny's (of course!) and started The Choiring of the Trees which I got while away - it was a Kindle Daily Deal. Long but I'm 16% in now and enjoying it. Stopping for a bit of proofreading though so don't hold your breath!
Thanks Sarah ♥Just read and reviewed Escape by M K Elliott, I couldn't find it listed on Goodreads and it wouldn't let me add the book for some reason. Might be temperamental internet connection this end though. I'm dipping into a DTB now by my favourite author Karen Rose Scream For Me
Read Bonfire Blues short but very well written.Then wallowed in a poetry book Elle recommended A Few Figs from Thistles: Poems and Sonnets which was a lovely thought provoking read.

I'm half way through Natural Causes ,but I stopped to read Filthy Shades of Gray,made me laugh out load a couple of times but didn't make me want to read the original.
That's pretty much how I felt about Filthy Shades Lorraine. I thought it stood up well on its own and actually became dark and thoughtful towards the end. I don't know if he meant it to be that way?
I've just finished Alien Chicks In Citrus Bras And Stalkers From Beyond The Stars. It was totally bizarre, but a lot of fun to read. I have just started Shadows of the Past. So far the characters and plot seem good.

Just finished Natural Causes,just starting the next in the series The Book of Souls,which was also free.
Started Hawke's Tor by E V Thompson. Enjoying it so far.
Finished The Imperfect Tense now off to find something a bit meatier. Going to start Silent Voices - I really enjoyed the Crow Trap, so high hopes for this one.
Finished Mark of the Dragon Queen last night. Started Flower of Scotland, which so far is a fun collection of dark short stories.
Just started The Rose of Blacksword I'm quite interested in the plot so far but the hero's 'powerful torso' keeps getting in the way of the story. I've had to put it down for a minute because the author has just launched into ANOTHER loooong description of the hero's muscles!!! Enough already!!! He's buff: we get it!!! On a similar note if I'm told one more time that the heroine has an impossibly slender but incredibly curvy frame I will shoot myself!!!

EDIT ... just checked, Judith Kramer's book isn't on kindle, and it's too dear as a DTB :( so it will have to wait. Dreadful title though. You need your best teeth in to say it.
I just finished Flower of Scotland - a nice but slightly hit and miss collection of short stories (both the Twitter stories are very well-written, engaging and witty, but they're also pretty much identical). Just started rereading my own book, in preparation for overhauling my various blurbs and product descriptions.
Started and finished A Brave New Hope and Olympic Game: The Story of the Great Dorando and the Great Pretender, both enjoyable short reads.I'm 70% into

Just finished Hawke's Tor By E V Thompson.I really enjoyed this one. Yes, I worked out who the murderer was but that did not detract from the story. It had plenty of twists and turns, and a bit of romance. Karen (Kew) you will enjoy this one I think.
A very pleasent read. I gave it 4 stars.
Finished The Crucible took me much longer than usual as This book gives the reader so much to think about regarding so called progress of underdeveloped countries both from a health and environmental perspective.A chilling read as it is a bit too close to the truth for comfort.Now back to some light relief reading!
It's good isn't it Sarah - but extremely thought-provoking.

I've finished reading The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen this morning and now I'm about to start I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith.
I have now finally finished The Lacuna i really should have read it more often and not just when I was in the bath... Have started The Constant Princess as my next DTB need to have it finished by next week so my MIL can read it when she comes over to visit!!
Just finished the excellent Ann Cleeves' Silent Voices and have started Crime in the Community, thanks to your recommendations! Think it'll be a bit of a contrast with the Cleeves.And now I've got to add Strictly Murder, Death of an Old Git, and Crucible to my TBR pile!

Just finished The Choiring of the Trees which was a daily deal last week. Stonkingly good book, based on a true story.Just about to start The Baptist by Ruby Barnes. I have enjoyed both his books that I've read so far so I'm looking forward to this.
I've just finished [[ASIN:B006PNXK2G Shattered (Donna Harp Series)]] - I found it hard going in places due to the very graphic scenes and language, but the last 30% really got me hooked and I read the last 30% in a couple of hours. I did suspect who the murderer was about 70% in though. Would be interested in reading a sequel, as I liked some of the characters. Am now doing some beta reading
Just finished Churchyard and Hawke by E V ThompsonThis is the third in the series. I read the forth book first which was a pity. All four books are a very good read. The beginning of the police force detective branch set in Cornwall in 1865.
Finished up Zo White and the Seven Morphs. Fun and funny quick read. Sort of a comedy mystery. Haven't picked up a new book yet as I'm trying to finish one of the other 4 I'm reading. :)
Just finished short story Dragon's Tears by Rosie Cottier. OKPrey by D A Boulter Interesting would like to read more of these characters.

Just finished The Baptist. This is a great book - ex mental patiernt who stops taking his medication. Great thriller and a breathtaking ending.Just started Gaspar The Thief which I've had hanging around on my TBR for a while.
It's been brilliant seeing the Peter Grant books take off for Ben Aaronovitch, even if it is a bit odd seeing him described as a new novelist when I bought my copy of the Doctor Who: Remembrance of the Daleks novelisation in 1990!

Death in The Fishing Net Which was a terrific fast paced thriller.
I started Rosen's On the Rocks last night - am 87% through now, and will finish it at lunch. I was never a big fan of shorts pre-kindle, but find I read more of them now, they can be handy for a quick read after a long book.
Just finished The Hangman's Daughter. Now onto The Prisoner of Heaven by Carlos Ruiz Zafon.Edit: Audiobook versions.
Just read Jackie Luben's A Bottle of Plonk. A nice short novel - a good evening's entertainment! Just bought (and hope to read soon) Nick Wastnage's Death in the Fishing Net
