I'm so ignorant about seasons in other countries. You must be on the same schedule we are. Autumn is showing her colors here, too, in Michigan, USA. We have been told our winter is going to be especially bad this year. I'm dreading it.

glenda (ayngelwing) Hi all! I'm Glenda, and I live in Cloverdale, British Columbia, in Canada.
I just discovered this group, and I'm sooo excited! Stephen King is my absolute, number one, top of the heap, 'king' of the hill, best of the best, cream of the crop, etc, etc, etc, favourite writer of all time.
I really look forward to reading books that he has enjoyed and recommends, and to getting to know you all.

Welcome Glenda,

I have the same feelings about King. No one can compare.

Hope to "see" you in our recent discussion of Fieldwork.

Hi, I am Alice and I just followed Glenda here. I am thinking about reading Pet Sematary which I have never read before. My favorite SK book is either The Shining or Salem's Lot.

I am currently impersonating Lady Alice Rowhedge for Halloween. She is a Norah Lofts character.

Pet Sematary
Norah Lofts

Thanks Glenda! I do like a good scare around Halloween. it seem to add something to the lovely dazzling fall color.

Speaking of that first-time feeling... have you pre-ordered your copy of King's new book 11/22/63? It's being release 11/8/11. I can't wait to get mine in the mail! Amazon has it for a decent price for a new hardcover.

message 164: by glenda (new)

glenda (ayngelwing) Ooooo, no, Debra, I haven't, but I'll soon take care of that, thanks! ;O)

message 165: by glenda (new)

glenda (ayngelwing) Ok, I'm back, book ordered, (you're right, it was a good price!) Now, I guess I'll call in sick and sit in my cozy chair till it arrives... (Theme from Jeopardy plays in background...) LOL

LOL, too funny! I'm getting my own cozy chair soon. I wanted a recliner, but this one has an ottoman, so I think it will work just fine. It's free and a pretty shade of pale blue. It will look fine in my library! Lol... that's the spare room.

Speaking of library. I have an extensive Stephen King library. I think I'll start a discussion group to talk about Stephen King's books that we own and treasure!?

Hey Scarlet!

I've been watching the count daily, as I'd set a goal we'd be at 300 by the end of the year. Today, we ARE!!! Yippee!! Wonder if I should set a new goal!

Michael Selmer (michaelselmer) | 17 comments Hello everyone! My name is Michael Selmer and I've been a Stephen King fan since I read Carrie in 1974. The Stand is my all-time favorite, but there are many that are tied for a close second. I've read a number of books in the past that SK recommended, but I'll have to find the list to help me remember them. I've just finished "The Ruins" by Scott Smith and I suppose that's how I found this group. I'm here looking for interesting discussions and horror/suspense/thriller fans to friend me.

Hi Michael:

I really enjoyed reading The Ruins and would like to read more by the author. Hope you enjoy our group!

Welcome aboard!

I enjoyed it also and I'm glad I read it, but it didn't live up to my heightened expectations and I thought it could have been so much better. The author does have a way with words, though, and I would read more from him.

I can see how it didn't live up to its hype. Great concept, though. Characters were a bit stereotyped. Still, it held my attention.

Welcome aboard, Brett! Thanks for joining. We are reading The Passage right now, as it was recommended by Stephen King. The group read ends January the 31st, so you have plenty of time to join in on the discussions.

Kim (kimmiky) Hi all. I'm Kim, a SAHM to 3 little ones who loves to read and escape the everyday humdrum through various works of literature. My boyfriend turned me on to Stephen King 10 years ago and I have never looked back. I thought this would be a good group to join in expanding my reading horizons.

message 198: by Helen (new)

Helen Hello everyone, I'm Helen, horror-addict (sounds like I should be standing up in a support group!), I read tons of King's books in my teen years then got side-tracked by other horror writers, but I've recently rediscovered why I liked him so much in the first place with 'Full Dark, No Stars'. I'm always on the lookout for potential new reads, so thought having a nosey around here would be helpful. Not that I should really be adding to my to-read list, but can't help myself!
