Philip Whiteland - the man behind Josiah and Archibald (which makes it sound like we're in a queue!)
Juggling the stories for the new compilation "A Kick at the Pantry Door" due out soon. I keep having this recurring nightmare in which I realise I've put some stories in that I've already published. Very worrying!
Gingerlily (or Cyberlily..) wrote: "How many times have you checked it?"Not as many times as I'm going to, I suspect. We are talking about the book I take it?
Gingerlily (or Cyberlily..) wrote: "Well the book or your thang, as required..."We'll go with the book, I think ;-)
Really pleased to have had two very encouraging reviews:http://www.amazon.co.uk/review/R29UFE...
and

Gingerlily (or Cyberlily..) wrote: "There's an 's' missing on the end of that. Sorry..."I just thought you were rationing me ;-)
Gingerlily (or Cyberlily..) wrote: "No, not at all. Have another few congratulations. I have plenty!"I wouldn't want you to waste them.
Have just updated Steady Past Your Granny's. To be honest, it's been on my list of things to do for some time. I've sorted out all of the glitches and the formatting, added some pictures and included a working Table of Contents. It's just grinding its way through the Amazon publishing process at the moment.
Just in case you're thinking "well, why didn't he do this before?" I would say, in my defence, that this was the first book I ever uploaded to Amazon and I was slavishly following a particular style guide which told me there were a load of things I couldn't do (like include pictures, page breaks and so on) that I now realise you can do. In addition, it would appear that some different fonts had crept in over time, although quite how this happened, I don't know as the original file is fine.
Gingerlily (or Cyberlily..) wrote: "Hope Granny is happy with her makeover."I believe she has a spring in her step, which must make walking difficult. BTW, the new version is now available.
The old girl managed to collect two 1 star reviews yesterday. Not one of her better days. On another point, I gather that if you go into the 'Manage my Kindle' page on Amazon you can set it to accept automatic updates whenever something you have bought has been revised. Didn't know that.
David wrote: "I enjoyed that little snippet Philip!"Thanks, David. In my opinion, all recorders are works of the devil in the hands of children. Adults, maybe not so much...
The old girl finally hit 5,500 sales, since publication (just in case you think I've had a hell of a day), today!
We didn't have a 'wreck', we had 'the stream' which we were forbidden to go near as there were rats. (never saw one, so how did they know?)
Gingerlily (or Cyberlily..) wrote: "We didn't have a 'wreck', we had 'the stream' which we were forbidden to go near as there were rats. (never saw one, so how did they know?)"Well, I guess you're always supposed to be only so many yards away from one, so it would be a safe bet!
In North Manchester, in my mum's day, they had Red Recs. The surface was that sort of rec composite stuff. It's funny the way you construct a word through hearing it.

I'm chucking a bit of bread to my ducks! Crutches For Ducks is reduced to 99p in the UK (and 99c or equivalent everywhere else) until Midnight GMT on Friday, 8th March. 249 pages of 5 star chuckles for just 99p? I must be certifiably insane...mind you...
Guess who forgot to change the price yesterday? It's in progress now, so if you're seized by a desire to grab a duck for just 99p/99c, you'll have to move quickly ;-)
Gingerlily (or Cyberlily..) wrote: "That sounds like a fair ground game!"That was the only fairground game I could ever win at! Always used to be either a goldfish in a bag (poor little devils) or a 45 that no-one wanted.
I can't remember every actually winning anything at a fairground. Except at the candyfloss mnachine...
Gingerlily (or Cyberlily..) wrote: "I can't remember every actually winning anything at a fairground. Except at the candyfloss mnachine..."Don't think that counts ;-)
BTW, the window of opportunity re Crutches For Ducks appears to have closed. However, even at £1.99 it's still great value for 249 pages of reminiscent chuckles!
What do you mean, is he still here? Yep, me and the duck and the granny are waiting up a side alley with a sock full of wet sand, ready to nab you when you're looking for your next book ;-)
