Philip Whiteland - the man behind Josiah and Archibald (which makes it sound like we're in a queue!)
Philip, in post 800 you say you would like me to do the 'hero'. I am interested to find out which of the 2 characters (ie. the 2 love interests) you deem to be the hero. (I will admit here that I only read the smaller of the 2 synopsis's so far so maybe my question would be answered if I read the longer one). If it is one of them then we will have 2 army characters on the cover, does this matter?

However, Major Rhodes thinks he's Agnes, so that should distinguish him.
I thought he was to be honest but wanted to check! The character i have uploaded here then as Agnes may be better suited to Captain Richard tbh. I may do Max as well actually as there is quite a lot of comedic imagery there! I will have a think and a play around anyway!
I am currently working on the Judge. May even have him with a judges wig on but carrying gardening tools. Again, I will have a play around :-)
Emma wrote: "A very rough drawing of Judge Garden. Thoughts please :-) http://www.goodreads.com/photo/group/..."I like the face. Not sure about the wig, though. Although the country is not specified for the book, it does rather sound like the USA, doesn't it? Wigs aren't really their thing. Let's see what everyone else thinks.

Yep, that makes sense. Will have a play :-)
4000th copy of SPYG sold this afternoon! Quite remarkable. Well, obviously, else I wouldn't have remarked on it ;-)

Are you suggesting that I'm in need of some decent jokes? ;-)
BTW, I wonder if anyone who has been kind enough to read Steady Past Your Granny's would be prepared to give me some feedback on the story "Departure Point"? The reason for this is that I'm putting another story together using the same characters and in the same style and I wondered what you thought of it.
If you want an idea of the content of
, take a look at http://www.sagazone.co.uk/blogs/detai... where I'm posting the 'It Started With A Snore!' saga that you can find in the book.

Thanks for this, Emma. I've just been re-reading the plot of 'Jambalaya' (it's been quite a few years since I last looked at it) and all I can say is that I must have been on something pretty powerful at the time ;-)
Ok. So it seems that the drawing of the cartoons was the easy bit!! Am p laying around with layouts and background colours at the moment and have 2 (out of about 10) layouts that I am happy (ish) with. Will email them to you as soon as my computer plays ball (it won't open outlook at the moment!!). I can upload them here as well if you want everyone's opinions!

The first for me, Nicer balance. 2nd next, and I personally did not like the layout for the next two.The reason I chose 1 over 2 is the 'Belle' in No 2 looks to be more important than the remainder of the cast. If she is then thats fine. Just MHO.
Number one has the nicest arrangement of the cartoons, I think.I don't care for the background colour nor the font. :)
Yeah, I have already changed the background colour! It looks really green which is didn't on my laptop!
OK. Now this one is my favourite (I apologise for posting yet another piccie!). Again, not sure about font. Any commentshttp://www.goodreads.com/photo/group/...
Hmmmm.Still don't like the font. How about comic sans?
Don't like that washed out yellow background either. Could we try that orange from the medallion on the pimp and the colonel's medal?
Love that arrangement of the pics and I'm really enjoying this!
Yeah I like that arrangement best too. I am really sorry Patti but I absolutely refuse to use Comic Sans (My Graphic Design background will not let me!!!!)
Will have a play with some fonts and colours. Maybe a dark background with white writing. Just having dinner and will have a look x
I'd like to see what the lighter blue is like with the white print.Just for comparison.
I'm liking the blue the best so far, I think. What do you lot think?
Phil, can we decorate your house when we're done with this? ;)

Erm, have a guess ;-)
Yay! Great! It'll be terrific fun.I'll start gathering swatches.
Curtains first, I think. Yours seem a bit tatty for some reason...

Wrong guess! As for the curtains...
When the dust has settled and we've come to a conclusion re the cover, I'll post it on my blog and see what reaction it gets.
OK. Over much deliberation I have settled on a font!!! I have uploaded 2 covers. One has a creamy background (which I admit to being my favourite as I feel it looks more professional!) and the other is blue (at the moment but is subject to change and is really to show the white text on coloured background). Once we have settled on a colour to try out I would really like Philip to upload both the cream and the coloured to his blog and see which is preferred, if he doesn't mind :-)http://www.goodreads.com/photo/group/...

Thanks all x
You're right. The cream is better, I think.Font is good. I pinched it down as much as I could but it's still bigger than thumbnail.
I would like to see it thumbnail size. Any chance of that?
and I STILL wanna know WHAT IS WRONG WITH COMIC SANS?
No clue how to do thumbnail but have uploaded a low res piccy of my computer screen with both covers showing (a bit crude but you will be able to see both)And Comic Sans is like asking a Michelin Star restaurant to serve you a Pot Noodle. Tacky, cheap and not very nice :-) xxx

It is amazing at how different these colours look on my iPad compared to my Laptop. 2 more colours, What is on my computer a warm salmony colour looks orange on my iPad http://www.goodreads.com/photo/group/...And a lighter (nicer blue) again is paler on my Laptop!
