paula (paula_) | 212 comments I'm one of those people who rarely re-listens to a story, because I am usually on the lookout for something new. Every once in a great while though an audiobook will just pull me back and I find myself even more taken with it the second time.

Would love to hear about any that you can't help but re-listed to & love even more the second time around!

Here are mine:
One Summer
Honor's Splendour (actually on sale at audible right now for $5.95)
Sinful
To Beguile a Beast
The Immortal Highlander

Melinda (melindaparmer) | 123 comments I have listened to SEP's entire library (except the last 2 recent releases) at least 3 times all the way through. I feel another re-listen coming on.

Also, Outlander 1-4 at least 3 times by audio.

Lea's Audiobooks Hensley (leahensleysaudiobooks) All of SEP's Chicago Stars series (It Had to Be You, Heaven Texas, Nobody's Baby but Mine, Dream a Little Dream, This Heart of Mine, Match Me if You Can, Natural Born Charmer) and Kiss an Angel.

Karen Robards - One Summer

Linda Howard - To Die For & Drop Dead Gorgeous, After the Night, Death Angel, Dream Man

Josie Litton - Dream of Me

Lisa Kleypas - Blue-Eyed Devil

J.R. Ward - Lover Awakened

Sandra Brown - Envy

Sherry Thomas - Private Arrangements

and finally...Books 1-4 of Diana Gabladon's Outlander Series.

I'm a big relistener and I'm sure there are more!

Melinda (melindaparmer) | 123 comments I feel like I missed a memo, but where does one get an audio of One Summer?

And to stay on topic, Linda Howard's After the Night is another frequent-listen for me.

D.G. | 1329 comments If I really like an audio version of a book, I re-listen parts of it but so far I've never re-listened a book. Although I have Perfect Chemistry still on my iPod with the idea of relisten to it one of these days. (I just loved that book.)

Now, I usually like to listen to books I loved that I liked in print. I've never listened to After the Night but I have it on my list in the library to download it one of these days.

MaryK | 168 comments Melinda wrote: "I feel like I missed a memo, but where does one get an audio of One Summer?"

Luckily for me, my library had it. I've been trying to find a copy to buy. The last one I saw on ebay was $200! If I owned it, it'd definitely be a relisten.

After the Night is another favorite of mine. It and One Summer are my idea of romantic suspense. :D

I have very few relistens at this point because I'm just getting around to my first listens in Romance.

message 7: by Kelli (new)

Kelli (oddiophile) I re-listen all the time but the only criterion is that I enjoyed the book; it doesn't have to be my favorite ever. I usually only re-listen at work so that if I become distracted or have to concentrate on something I don't lose track of the story. I'll pick new-to-me books for the rest of my listening time.

The exceptions have been Gabaldon's Outlander series because there is so much going on (and they are just that good) that a re-listen brings new things to my attention and 3 books that I restarted as soon as I finished them:

Tamora Pierce's Terrier
C.E. Murphy's Heart Of Stone
Nalini Singh's Slave to Sensation

message 8: by Krissie (new)

Krissie | 224 comments I've relistened to Jeaniene Frost, my stuff, Outlander, Mine Until Midnight (a lot), Beast, Proposition, ..
In fact, I relisten to:
Jeaniene Frost
Lisa Kleypas
Judith Ivory
Sunshine by Robin McKinley
Not sure who else I'll relisten to, but those are sure things. I listen at night, and when I finish a book (or get tired) I switch to something familiar to fall asleep by (setting my iPod to 30 minutes).

message 9: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Audiobooks Only | 631 comments I too re-listen regularly, but rarely to the entire book. I've either bookmarked the sections I like to hear or made chapter breaks at those points. Too many to list but I'll raise my hand for One Summer

Even if a book doesn't have my full attention on a re-listen there are scenes/lines I wait for, ones that have grabbed me either by content or by the way the narrator has delivered them.

One Summer has a lot of those which I imagine is the reason it's showing up here often. :) Since I'm into examples this morning here's one that's a favorite in One Summer because of the voice/delivery. Kate Flemming/Anna Fields rocks this book.....

.... Rachel turned her back on the source of her annoyance and started for the door. She could feel his gaze on her, and the notion that he was watching her made her suddenly self conscious. On her teetering heels she could not help but sway.

Just as she reached the door, he made an odd sound that caused her to glance back at him, startled.

"Rachel," he said in what was scarcely more than a husky whisper, while his eyes drilled into hers, "don't sleep with him. Sleep with me instead.

Oh yes, I do that too. If I need my own personal "don't let 'em get you down" motivational speech I'm prone to listening to Raudman read this snippet from Ilona Andrews' Magic Bleeds:

“Some of you know me. Some of you have seen me fight and some of you are my friends. Have your vote. But know this: if you come to remove me, come in force, because if you try to separate me from him, I will kill every single one of you. My hand won’t shake. My aim won’t falter. My face will be the last thing you’ll see before you die.”

Brenda Audiobooks Only | 631 comments MaryK you did it! I just noticed the PANSY icon you added, I love it! I'm going to laugh every time I see you've posted from now on. :D :D

message 12: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Audiobooks Only | 631 comments Kelli we were typing at the same time ... I love listening to Raudmann in that scene too but I hadn't thought about the motivational value, good one! :)

Wow. Now I want to read this...that is an awesome quote!

Brenda Audiobooks Only | 631 comments Kelli ... In Magic Slays Kate says Curran gave the best "smack-down" ever at one point. It was good, but for me, your Kate quote above is the best smack-down in the series so far!

You know, I can't say I always like Raudman's narration *ducks and takes cover from thrown tomatoes* but wow does she deliver that part pitch perfect.

message 16: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Audiobooks Only | 631 comments Seeing the spot that Raudman placed in the Favorites Poll I'm beginning to think I'm the odd one out by being one totally addicted to her voice with this series. :)

I need to figure out how to do the "spoiler" thing so I can hide a different section of the story to ask what you thought of the delivery. My HTML skills are sadly lacking and I need to be working (self empolyd but still I need to get to it) so I'll have to check out the how to later.

message 17: by paula (new)

paula (paula_) | 212 comments Just did re-listens of Eternal Rider and The Darkest Secret & enjoyed them both even more the second time.

Nope - I'm with you on that one.

Re-reads for me - Most of Nora Roberts books. I find how her words flow in audio is perfectly paced for when I'm doing data entry at work.

Kate Daniels and Mercy Thompson are re-reads, as are the In Death books. Particularly 1 & 2.

message 19: by Susinok (last edited Sep 18, 2011 05:47AM) (new)

Susinok I have listened to the Simply series by Mary Balogh, narrated by Rosalynd Landor multiple times. Simply Love and Simply Perfect are my favorites.

I've also listened to the Wallflower series multiple times.

And I've got every Jane Austen on audio and have listened to them multiple times, and Room with a View by EM Forester.

I plan to start over on the In Death series at some point, too.

message 20: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Audiobooks Only | 631 comments Nice to know I'm not alone on Raudman Tania. :) I agree that Nora Roberts is easy / enjoyable listening.

I haven't listened to all of the In Death books yet. I switched to the audio version about mid point in the series, then went back and listened to the first couple but never followed through with the rest but I want to, preferably back to back ... someday.

message 21: by Vic (new)

Vic (vicaet) | 494 comments I regularly re-listen to audios. I do this while working if I'm doing stuff that I can listen to but will sometimes tune out the audio so I'm not lost when it gets my attention again. I also like to fall asleep to audio and I never do this with a new book. Sometimes, I just can't get in the mood for something new and I re-listen to an old favorite. Series/Books I revisit (no particular order):

* Kelley Armstrong - Otherworld (mostly listen to the stories about Elena and Clay)
* Nalini Singh - Psy/Changling (good to fall asleep to) ;) and Guild Hunter
* Patricia Briggs - Mercy Thompson and Alpha & Omega
* Anne Bishop - Black Jewels
* Ilona Andrews - Kate Daniels
* J.D. Robb - In Death (I've listened to this series back to back a few times and still not tired of it!)
* Diana Gabaldon - Outlander series (Haven't revisited lately - may be time to pull it back out)
* Christine Feehan - Ghostwalker and Leopard series
* Jane Austen - Pride & Prejudice and Sense & Sensibility
* Julie Garwood - Honor's Splendour
* Keri Arthur - Riley Jensen series
* Stephanie Meyer - The Host
* Suzanne Brockmann - Troubleshooters series
* Jim Butcher - Dresden Files and Codex Aleria
* JK Rowling - Harry Potter

message 22: by Krissie (new)

Krissie | 224 comments Great list, Vic. I listen to books when I go to bed, too, though I do listen to new ones. But when I start falling asleep I'll switch to an old, safe favorite (or one of mine).
I just bought a new ipod nano and I can't find a sleep option like my ipod classic has. Do any of you know which mp3 players have the sleep option?

message 24: by Krissie (new)

Krissie | 224 comments Mine are often stuff I've listened to but managed to sleep through. But books I almost know by heart are:
MINE TILL MIDNIGHT
SUNSHINE
OUTLANDER
A KISS AT MIDNIGHT (though WHEN BEAUTY TAMED THE BEAST will probably join it)
DEATH ANGEL
ALL THE QUEEN'S MEN
And, er, some of mine. What can I say, I love my books.

message 25: by Carrie (new)

Carrie | 296 comments I've listened to all the Georgette Heyer books available on audio more than once, as well as all Jane Austen's books. I love the language both writers use.

I've also re-listened to:
Several SEP Chicago Stars books, including HEAVEN, TEXAS and THIS LITTLE HEART OF MINE.
CARNAL INNOCENCE by Nora Roberts, narrated by Tom Stechschulte.
CINDERELLA DEAL, ANYONE BUT YOU, and CHARLIE ALL NIGHT by Jennifer Crusie
DREAM MAN by Linda Howard

message 26: by paula (new)

paula (paula_) | 212 comments A few recent "awesome" re-listens:

Dream of Me/Believe in Me
Dragon Bound

message 27: by Ancientpeas (new)

Ancientpeas | 301 comments I definately have "comfort listens".

I have relistened several times to:

Halfway to the Grave and One foot in the grave by Jeaniene Frost (I love Cat and Bones and I really feel those two books have to be put together to get the full story)

Branded by Fire and Kiss of Snow by Nalini Singh (I love those two changling wolves and Mercy *heroine of Branded by Fire* is one of my favourite female characters ever)

and of course, J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (the only one I own but I love the whole series- Jim Dale is a genius)

I've only really been buying books for my Ipod for the last year or so before then most of my audiobooks came from the Library so relistens were difficult.

One Summer is one of my rereads but I've not heard the audio version.
