Its all about the curb appeal. You're not really going to pick up a book with a plain or ugly cover. Once you get past the initial attraction, its the blurb and the first page that need to hook me enough to buy it. The first page is as far as I read if I don't like the writing style. Yes. I buy books if the writing is really good, even if I'm not hooked on the plot yet.
