I bet they'll look all whitey as well. ROFL.
Shelleyrae, I did wonder what happened to you :(

I enjoy the balmy heat of summer. Today we are expecting 27C (I don't even know how to convert that 85-90F?) and I say bring it on! Because, well you know,
Winter is coming! and then it will be -27C (which is really cold!)

This year, we're mostly doing fans @ home (only low 30s C so far, but running @ 90% humidity......ugh!). We have heaters to drag out in the winter...but can really empathize with you, Sandra! We need to send you a bunch of kairo's (little warming packs that you can hold, stick on your back, stuff in your socks to warm your freezing toes....) and such! Winter seems to last forever, but it's truly short (and for you, too, right?) Hope it moves on to nice weather soon!

27C is 81F. My handy dandy time zone doodad can also do the weather around the world.

Thanks Judithe ;)
What do they use inside the kairo packs. I have seen little packs made with wheat & a bit of lavender which you can heat up in the microwave.
And you're right winter doesn't last all that long here either. Thank goodness!

I have no idea what's in them, but just give them a few good shakes, and they're toasty warm for the next several hours! I'd send ya some, but they've been replaced with the cool-gel neck scarfs...pretty sure that's not on your "Want-right-now" top 10 list!
Enjoy the coolness, Mary!

It's been in the upper 90's - lower 100's for a couple of months already. Still have August and September to go. We won't cool off a lot until mid October or even later. Unfortunately, the AC at work isn't working correctly (AGAIN!!!). I have a small fan at my window, but when I'm dispatching I'm a drenched mess!
January and February are our coldest months. We occasionally get snow (just a little every 4-5 years), but mostly just cold weather.

That website is essential so I can keep track of people on here. LOL. It comes in very handy.
Judithe, they sound more high tech than I was thinking. If you only need to shake them it must be some sort of chemical reaction. Thanks for thinking of me but I don't think the postal service would like them going through the mail :D

Alternatively, maybe I should just go get some sleep and forget about the whole thing! Temps have dropped and theirs a nice breeze winding it's way through the house!

Definitely have hot water bottles & elec blankie. I love my elec blankie. LOL

It totally makes sense...it just took me by surprise. :) I used to live on the Oregon coast and would laugh when people from Portland would come to the beach to escape the heat. It was usually only 3 or 4 degrees cooler, but at the beach there are no A/C units anywhere. It would only get hot for like one week a year so what was the point, right? Same thing, just flip the temps from where you are. I must be more used to the cold since it just seems really weird to not have heat.
I hear ya on the heat bills though! A big section of my house has those 20+ foot vaulted ceilings and they make my house the pits to heat.
Oh well, I have my books to keep me warm! :D

My husband is the a/c junkie, so on my days off from work--unless it's crazy humid--I leave the windows open then hurry and close them and crank the air about an hour or so before he gets home from work. Lol. But he works in the heat, so he just wants to freeze his ass off at then end of the day, after sweating it off all day at work. ;)

Hubby said there's another major typhoon heading our way; supposed to hit Sunday. He gets all excited like a kid hoping for a snow day. Hope I don't lose power before BSB shelf announcement! Just in case, modmates, if you don't see the shelf announcement here say by noon JP time on Sunday, something's up and I'll need one of ya'll to post it for me.
Yeah, A/C bill is a killer here.
@Sandra, LOVE that site! I use it all the time to calculate time zone differences.

Where are you in Chicago? My brother lives on Ontario at Lakeshore. I'm "across the pond" in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We've got some serious heat coming this weekend. Enjoy your AC!

I have 2 good friends that live in Grand Rapids. :)

*confused look* Uh, Steph, this weekend is only the 16-17th. Or do you expect to be out of the loop a whole week if it's bad....:(

But I'm glad we caught it, because, you know, eager beavers are chomping at the bit to start this round...

We've got the same Dana, with fans on poles for summer.

Me too!
Glad you caught that Christina, I had a confused look as I was reading it too!

*blush* Yeah, ok, thanks for airing my addiction to the world. LOL! >;) I just can't live without ya'll!

I can imagine. "Wait! What??"

Yep, I was. hahahahaha

I'm not really in Chicago, Kristen, I'm in the suburbs, about an hour southwest. But it's just easier to say Chicago around here--then people know the general vicinity of where I am. If I said Monee, IL, people would ask, "Where is that in IL?" If I say Chicago, they know. :)

Yep, I was. hahahahaha"
Knew it! ;)

*Looks at all the 'eager beavers', points wand at them* It's actually not too bad yet. Last time, Steph had to like start the game as soon as she could cuz there was some mad pacing going on. I think everyone might make it this time without going crazy.
*continues skipping around, waving wand, and throwing confetti* Bingo! Bingo! Bingo! Tra-la-la la-la la-la.....

Hey! You forgot the booze...
Well, after last time, maybe I should abstain???

*starts a blender up* Magarita time!"
Ok. Who's driving me home??

I'd never forget the booze .... LOL. I always have some on hand, didn't need to get extra ..... though if you're all coming to the pacing I might have to revise that. ROFL

Now off to do a little practice pacing so I don't injure myself when the date gets closer!
