My youngest cousin is being raised Catholic even though his dad is a somewhat lapsed Catholic and his mom is... Methodist? I think? They alternate Sundays.. one week at the Methodist church, one week at Catholic, etc. And he used to go to Catholic school but he has really severe learning disabilities so I don't think he does anymore.
(I went to Catholic school and loved it.. but that's one thing I don't like about Catholic schools.. they don't usually have the resources to handle students with any sort of disability or developmental delay.)

So, having parents with different religions can work, but it's probably a lot easier growing up in a house with one religion

It's definitely a discussion people should have before they get married, particularly if they're very different--like Jewish and Baptist or Catholic and Methodist. Sometimes those differences cause people to get a divorce and if there are children involved, that would make it even more painful. It definitely can work, but Lynn is right, it's easier growing up with one religion.

However, as someone's kid who wants to be a different religion than my parents, it's difficult to deal with because I don't feel I can have a good dialogue with my parents about it.
