Angela (blonde_chick120) | 51 comments Hi Im Angela. I just happened upon this group & thought it looked like a great group. I am a true lover of books. I could spend hours in a book store. I read a little bit of everything although what I read depends on my moode. I have been stuck on general fiction/novels for a long while now.

I just wanted to introduce myself & say that Im looking forward to being a part of the group.

Linda | 887 comments The no gas thing here is such a bummer. I was planning a road trip to a used bookstore in Nashville. Put on hold for now.

Sherry Books are like jello, there's always room for more!

message 18: by Angela (new)

Angela (blonde_chick120) | 51 comments lol Sherry. Exactly! I was very excited though. I found a book I have been searching for forever! One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest by Ken Kesey. Now I just hope after searching for it for so long that its not a big let down! Has anyone read it?

Angela, its one of my all time favorite classics. I havent seen the movie, but really want to since I liked the book so much!

message 23: by Sherry (new)

Sherry Lori,it's a must see! Jack Nicholson is at his best and the native fellow(can't remember his name or his character's name) was awesome!

message 24: by Angela (new)

Angela (blonde_chick120) | 51 comments Im just the opposite. Ive seen the movie (I actually own it & its one of my favorites) & have never read the book, but have always wanted to. Yea, I cant wait to start reading it!

message 25: by Marsha (new)

Marsha I loved that book. I read it after seeing the movie when I was younger. I didn't find it disappointing at all.

message 26: by Angela (new)

Angela (blonde_chick120) | 51 comments Thanks to all! Leppaluoto...Better late than never! haha Now if I can just get through the book Im reading now I'll be doing good. I have not been able to get completely into the book (The Ballad of Frankie Silver by Sharyn McCrumb.) I think it was just bad timing as I have bought other books since starting to read it & would rather be reading something else (like One Flew Over...)

That makes me wonder? Has anyone ever had that happen to them? Reading what is a pretty good book & suddenly you have a book in your hands that you have wanted to read for a long time. Then you find yourself not wanting to finish what youre reading currnetly? Or maybe its just a reading quirk of mine...

message 27: by Angela (new)

Angela (angelamclaughlin) Welcome Angela, I am another person from Tennessee and also, I was a very near neighbor of yours growing up.

message 28: by Angela (new)

Angela (blonde_chick120) | 51 comments Hi Pumpkin, thanks for the welcome! Aww, a near neighbor.

message 29: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 1000 comments Yes, Angela, I have done that. I'll be reading a perfectly fine book and then purchase another book and lose all attention and concentration I had for the other book. That mostly happened when I had summer reading in high school and then that July one of the Harry Potter books would come out!

message 30: by Linda (new)

Linda | 887 comments Had that feeling about an hour ago. Came just this [ :] close to buying Shantaram, but since I am on the verge of starting one more book of four and they are all new, had to resist. Especially since that one is a real doorstop. So, I left B&N got home and put my head down to take deep cleansing breaths. But I keep hearing that voice (oh where have I heard that voice before) -- I am Shantaram, Linda, come back and buy me. This is beginning to sound like something out of Stephen King.

message 31: by Sherry (new)

Sherry I might think about it,even dream a little what it might be like to indulge in my book lust for another book but in the end I'm a one book woman. :)

message 32: by Angela (new)

Angela (blonde_chick120) | 51 comments Being in this group makes me feel so "normal"! hehe Sherry...I am like you, one book at a time. Unlike Leppaluoto I could never read more than one book. I would probably get the stories all mixed up or something. lol

However I do know that if I dont pick The Ballad of Frankie Silver back up & start reading Im never going to get anywhere. I havent picked it up in 2 days just b/c I want to be reading something else. lol I know Im not getting anywhere fast by reading nothing though! Oh, the pressure! lol

message 33: by Sherry (new)

Sherry The grass is not always greener in another book!Hang in there!

message 34: by Angela (new)

Angela (blonde_chick120) | 51 comments OH MY GOSH! I am not allowing myself around any book sections in any type of store untill I finish reading Frankie Silver! I went to a local thrift store today. They have a pretty big selection of fiction books (the majority of the people that go there are there for clothes & other things, not books.) Of course the books are dirt cheap. Needless to say I came home w/ a bag full. Which I am so excited about b/c I found several books I have been searching for for a long time (yea!)& havent been able to find anywhere. Others I now own thanks to GR & this group. haha I got...

Paper Moon-Joe David Brown (been dying to read)
The Hotel New Hampshire-John Irving
The World According To Garp-John Irving
To kill A Mockingbird-Harper Lee
Deliverance-James Dickey
The Cracker Factory-Joyce Rebeta Burditt
Fancy Strut- Lee Smith
Sinister Gardens-Willo Davis Roberts
Peyton Place-Grace Metalious
Return To Peyton Place-Grace Metalious
The Bridges Of Madison County-Robert James Waller
Cry Me A River-T.R. Pearson

I just couldnt resist! They were all so cheap! I am for sure still reading One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest after I finish my current book (if I ever finish), but after that I HAVE NO IDEA!!! To many choices!!! No more books for me untill I get through at least half of what I purchased today. Im really afraid to go through all my books & see exactly how many books I need to read.
