For the Fantasy Paranormal shelf, I'm going to go with The Sea of Monsters. It's on the list, but I think it's on page 3 or 4. Does that matter?

Suzanne, as long as it's on the list, it doesn't matter on which page. My two choices were shelved by 1 or 2 people and I don't even know which page they are in! :DI use Steph's method to check which shelves they are in.
Lol, Suzanne. I'm reading Halfway to the Grave for a book club thing. We're doing 2 chapters a week. So, for this Wednesday, we'll be discussing Chapters 5 and 6. I've already read them, and it was really hard to stop at the end of 6. It's a lot fun. I think next time I start reading it, I might not stop when I'm supposed to. Lol.

Good Job!! :D
- **** - Fantasy Paranormal ShelfI've finished The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan! This book was very entertaining and a good follow up to the first one. I was trying to remember my Greek Mythology while I was reading it, and I liked how they retell the stories in a new light and voice! I'll definately read the next one!
For 'fantasy-paranormal':
Title/Author: Last Dragon Standing by G.A. Aiken
Date finished: 13 September 2011
Rating: ★★★★
Review: I really enjoy this series, they're just so easy to read! Tbh, due to all the other stuff going on in this book, there wasn't as much focus on the main couple as with the previous ones however I do love seeing Gwenvael again. He cracks me up. I would have liked there to be a bit more closure between Keita and Ragnar but maybe we'll see that in the next book which I'm looking forward to reading :)
I'm changing my pick for Supernatural from Breaking Dawn to Beastly. It's on the shelf, but it's not in a "series." Does that matter?
Title: Goddess of the Sea by P.C. CastDate finished: 13 September 2011
Rating: ★★★
Review: This was my first book of P.C Cast even though she was in my radar for a couple of years. While I liked the premise of the book, I felt the execution lacked. (view spoiler) The ending was expected (duh). All in all, this book helped me a little from recovering my book funk and New York to Dallas completed the whole recovery with extra energy to spare. I love Roarke :P Anyway, I might continue with the series if I'm in right mood. But I won't go looking for it, though.
- *** - Supernatural Shelf This was a cute book that I borrowed from the library. I wanted to read it because I was interested in seeing the movie, so I'll be able to compare and contrast the two. I'd recommend it somebody if they were looking for a cute and sweet classic love story.

Good Job!! :D
Suzanne, I've seen the movie, but haven't read the book. Have you seen the movie yet? I'd be interested to hear how they compared.
Steph wrote: "Suzanne, I've seen the movie, but haven't read the book. Have you seen the movie yet? I'd be interested to hear how they compared."I've read the book and seen the movie. The things that I noticed were different was how the characters looked and the time frame. That's all I can remember right now.
Thanks, Alyssa. I saw the book at the library on base. I may (eventually) read it. But for now, the movie was enough. :)
Title: The Darkest Night by Gena ShowalterShelf: Demons
Date finished: 16 September 2011
Rating: ★★★
Review: The premise is unique with the twist on the Pandora. The setup does seem to be similar to BDB. As protagonists, Maddox and Ashlyn are good. The backdrop and setup make me want to know about the other Lords. The big eyeroll was the insta-lust/love. Why doesn't it happen to me? (I meant, mutual). All in all, a fun read. I'll be continuing the series.
Wow! I'm so behind! I went back to work last week and I've been swamped!!! Finished:
Review: This was an exciting novel! I love the Kitty series and they keep getting better. I'm enjoying the relationship between Ben and Kitty. I wonder what will happen when Cormac gets out of jail.
Stars: 5

That worked out well, Suzanne. Have you seen the movie?
Nope, I normally enjoy the books better than the movies anyway so I like to read them before I see them.
I think I remember hearing from someone that they watch the movies before they read the books, since almost always the books are better than the movies. That way you maybe enjoy the movie more, I guess.
I was looking for 'read-in-2010' on

Hey everyone! I've gotten a little behind in my reading - I've got a new job that's taking up a lot of my time and energy - but I'll try and catch up soon! Lots of great choices for the last two shelves but I don't know what I'll read for them yet.I've been in a "finish some of your series" mood lately, so I'm refraining from starting new series which is VERY hard! Let's hope I can do it!
Happy reading to everyone!
Kristen, since I just finished Archangel's Blade and currently reading Archangel's Consort, I will definitely say, Archangel's Kiss!! :D Seriously, you can't go wrong with that series. Nightshade is on my TBR though..
I finished
today for the Read in 2010 shelf. This is the first re-read for me of this book. The one thing that I remember irritating me was that there was too much sexorring in this book. I wanted some more action, more happenings, more emo stuff. During this re-read, I still noticed the too much sexorring a bit since I was expecting it but didn't bother me that much. Wonder what that says about the books I read in the interim?! The Guild-Hunter series still ranks among my top UF (I consider it UF, somehow and not PNR) series with the action, plot and the amazing world-building. I'm really looking forward to the next book. ★★★★ 1/2 (went up 1 star) for this book.
This is for the 'read-in-2010' shelf.
(although I read and liked the UK edition
)Title/Author: Unwind by Neal Shusterman
Date finished: 19 September 2011
Rating: ★★★★★
Review: This was a pretty amazing book but like Cindy said (and probably many others), it is so disturbing. Similar to all good dystopians, it begins with a completely unbelievable idea (e.g. The Hunger Games - come on, children killing other children for reality TV??).
When you start the book, the premise seems ridiculous and unrealistic (plus I was confused how 'unwinding' actually worked) therefore it makes you feel safe, makes you feel like this is never going to happen, so it's ok. Society would never allow this, and maybe it wouldn't. But what if it did?
And there it is. The thought that you could never 100%, entirely, absolutely rule it out. That is what books like this play at. The what-ifs. Exploring society, the actions and consequences in desperate situations.
It's fair to say, this book deals with some meaty issues (unwanted children/teens, pro-life vs pro-choice, the choosing of sides, souls, death, consciousness, religion, to name a few) and yet it still has characters you root for. It's so addictive because you need to know what happens to them (I'm completely in love with Connor and Risa btw).
Also this book contains the most horrifying scene I've ever read. It makes another scene a while before it which I found pretty tragic look like a picnic. That's all I'm saying about that.
So basically everyone should read this book. It will literally keep you on the edge of your seat and is one of those that stays with you even after you've finished.
