Greenland? Are there enough people even living there for one to be murdered? ha

Seriously I bet the annual crime rate there, is comparatively low.

message 1166: by Thomas (last edited May 07, 2019 03:46PM) (new)

Thomas (tom471) | 428 comments I don't know how much crime there is in Greenland. The author is a native of Denmark who has lived in Nuuk for several years. However, I wouldn't be surprised if the references to child abuse/rape of native Greenlanders by outsiders is based on real incidents. I believe Nuuk has about 20,000 people.

Gail (gtauber) | 4 comments I've spent the summer reading mysteries, and one non-fiction novel. It's been that kind of summer.

Right now enjoying The Poison Will Remain, an Inspector Adamsberg mystery by Fred Vargas, who btw is a she. The series is whacky, quirky and superbly written. No typical mystery genre here.

I also read 3 Montalbano mysteries by Andrea Camilleri.I've read about 8 in all? Camilleri just died and all of the books in this series are free for a time on Cloud Library. If you haven't read any of these you're in for a treat. Great characters, offbeat plots... and he loves his (Sicilian) food.

message 1173: by Anna (new)

Anna Klein | 2 comments Your news about Andrea Camilleri is so sad to me. I know he was in his 90s but his writing has always been strong. I am waiting for his last book at my library. I have read all of the Montalbano series and a few non series books. Loved all the characters. I actually listened to more than half of this series on downloadable audio books. The narrator, Grover Gardner was so funny and a joy to listen to. I probably know a lot about Sicily because of this series, especially the food. Gail, I also love Fred Vargas's books too.

Saswati Chakraborty | 1 comments Hello Everybody,
I have lately been reading This Dark Town by Marguerite 0’ Callaghan. Just finished it a day before and still feeling the hangover. This is a trilogy series and has been continued in 3 series, culminating in the third installment.
I have posted my reviews of each one and giving the links below. Kindly go through the reviews to know more about the story, but one thing, readers should patiently read the three stories one after another, like watching a web series. I am sure they will enjoy it and cringe for more!!

Doug Wilhelm (doug_wilhelm) | 2 comments I just finished Olin Steinhauer's The Cairo Affair -- loved it, posted a five-star review today -- and am most of the way through Yangsee Choo's The Night Tiger, a complex and somewhat slow-building mystery set in 1930s colonial Malaysia. It's a very well-constructed, interesting book that shifts between the viewpoints of two Malaysians, a young woman and a boy -- and though it isn't pulling me along as strongly as I'd hoped (I feel like I keep having to take a deep breath and dive back in), the narrative threads are coming together and I can see a very strong finish coming up. Hope so!
